I currently have the G3C as my carry and while I agree that the trigger is nowhere near as good as the one on the GX4 that is easily remedied with a Keeptinkering Pseudo-Backstrap replacement trigger shoe. It is like 36 dollars and comes with a new spring. It eliminates the double strike feature but also removes 70 percent or more of the take-up and over-travel and repositions the break and reset further forward in the guard. For those with larger hands like Hicock45 it would allow for a much more comfortable and natural feeling shooting experience. I put one in my buddies G2C for him because he has rather long fingers and hated the trigger and it made a huge difference, I also polished all the fire group components so it made for a spectacular improvement in performance. I like my G3C it is great for a fall, winter, and spring EDC but I am getting the GX4 for a summer carry due to reduced mass, which means less printing under lighter layers of clothing. For what it is worth you shouldn't have to choose between the two because you can own both for the cost of a single H&K VP9. If you put a Keeptinkering trigger and a Lakeline LLC stainless guide rod and striker guide sleeve in the G3C for around 85 dollars total you have a winner of a subcompact and still come in less than a Glock 19, M&P 2.0 SC, or even the Canik Elite SC for that matter. I look at it like this there is no true do all pistol out there and when you have a brand that produces very affordable, yet reliable products that permits you to own more than one for the same cost as a single premium manufacturer unit that is going to be the way to go then you have choices that will suit any occasion. That is why Taurus has become my choice. You definitely get a good bang for the buck 😉😉.

I will give it the same polishing treatment that I did my G3C and that should make that trigger like butter and possibly drop the weight of the pull to mid or high 5 lb. area. Let us know your experience with it. My limited time at the rental range was above expectation so I would be curious what your find.
5x is quite a number! I've never had a carbon fiber holster. Kydex holsters are widely considered to be much safer way to carry striker fired pistols than leather. That being said I prefer a nice leather holster to a hard kydex one also. I have several leather holsters for hammer fired handguns. Thanks for watching!
They have the g2c in 40, and in March they slipped out the g3c 40. I upgraded the g2c trigger with keep tinkering SA and that travel is gone, great gun now. I have the gx4, added the 2rd base plate and spring from taurus and with 13rd the pinky gets a grip. I'm pleased with all 3.
I don't know about perfect, but I try to "keep it real"... I think about what I'd like to know and what might create well meaning thought and conversation, and give you that instead of wasting everybody's time trying to be cooler than I actually am. One thing I do like about the G3 & G3C trigger is that it has restrike capability. It's a SA/DA without a hammer drop lever. That feature is probably why the trigger feels different.

Haven't shot the GX4. However, I am having some hand issues and just the size of all micro 9s makes me cringe thinking of shooting them. Love my G2c and the 'terrible' trigger as my edc. My wife has the G3c for her home office and edc. She is not a fan of micro 9 handguns. I'm not sure that many here will worry much about the trigger pull if they get into a situation where bullets are buzzing their ears. Only at the range will they have bragging rights.
Micro 9's in general are not pleasant to shoot. Perceived recoil is greater than with something G2C/G3C sized for sure. Adequate training can overcome most trigger related issues. The shooter of a G2C with a terrible trigger that is frequently trained with will more than likely out perform the guy with a custom shop trigger that never trains. You can't buy skill. It was hard to find GC3 holsters set up for the Veridian laser. I ended up making a Kydex press after watching a lot of DYI holster videos on UA-cam and now have made 4 perfect fitting holsters.
Trade off with putting laser. There isn't much of a market for making a kydex holster for it from a business standpoint. I have a P80 G19 Gen3 build that I couldn't find a holster for it. I made one like you did. It came out lighter than usual and fit great. I don't know why people want to get smaller guns and put lasers, optics, extended mags, etc on them. It's too small a platform to have all that and still be "compact". These guns are niche items, and not do-it-alls. Aside from the thumb safety, I can deal with my G3C. I had it removed. I don't feel the GX4 gives enough to replace it as my EDC.

The G3C only has a long trigger take on the first shot due to the double action. However, the follow-up shots are short and crisp. You did not show that.

I've seen some decent prices online recently (picked up a complete Mlok 9mm upper for $299 the other day). I'm actually working on a budget/ entry level/ poverty tier/ economy/ EDC video using the G3C. I'm hoping the GX4 will settle in around $300-$340 range. The G3C is more than likely going to maintain a lower price point than the GX4. The two platforms are going to draw a different fan base to a degree. I like them both but for very different reasons. Why do you want a lighy on your carry gun? A home defense gun, I agree a light is useful. Unless you know the laws of your state, a gun light on your edc can make for a possible bad day in court.
Huge Plus for me is that The G3c will also accommodate Sig P226 Mags. That was a Determining Factor for me. I replaced my trigger for $25 with a carbon fiber one and the Take up issue is gone

I held both at store before buying the G3C....Im a heavy guy with short fat fingers and i couldnt get the 3 finger grip i wanted on the butt of the GX4. That was a deal breaker for me. A proper purchase for good control means infinitely more on an EDC for me than a refined trigger does. The G3C however gives me just enough length on the butt for that pinky finger which allows me to retain a tighter grip, giving me more control with my dominant hand and enough real estate for good positioning with my support hand. In a situation where I'm relying on that gun to save my life, Im not going to be thinking about how many pounds the trigger is or how short the reset is.... they'll be enough adrenaline pumping through your body to easily deploy a 12 lb trigger without even noticing it. My first thought is going to be getting the proper grip on that butt right out of the holster so I can release the safety and be on target without having to wait for my support hand to help reposition the firearm in my dominant hand. CONTROL IS EVERYTHING. Yes you can get the GX4 and BUY 3 extended 13 rnd mags, but then you're overall $200 more than the G3C and its 3 stock 12 rnd mags that are just long enough to begin with. Best $250 I ever spent, Sig, S&W and Glock can all kick dirt. Thank you Taurus.

Well if I wanted a gun specifically for Carrie I would pick the gx4. But if I want a gun that I can carry and when I get home I could throw a light on it so that way I can put it on my dresser for home defense I would pick the g3c cuz it has a picatinny. Now because of them both being under $400 I would just go ahead and pick up both of them I got my carry I have another gun that I can carry so that way I could switch them out a little bit here and there and when I do carry the gx4 when I get home I can put that in the safe pull out my g3c and there goes my home defense pistol.

IMHO, the GX4 wasn't intended to compete with the G3C. It's aimed at the P365, Heck-Kitty, Max-9, Shield Plus. The G3C is still a good gun. I own both. The GX4 has become my go-to gun for concealment. I'll probably sell my G3C and EC9S. I've been there and done that with aftermarket triggers on both my SD series guns. It was fun but I'm over it and have better things to spend my money and time on (a weapons-grade-cute granddaughter for one) than modifying triggers on $300 guns.
It looks like the GX4 with the pinky extension is still shorter in height than the G3c with it's standard pinky rest mag base plate. What is the height difference between these 2 set-ups? Again, a well done video. Thanks.
I haven't had a chance to measure it yet but it is a little bit shorter the pinky extension is kind of a halfway length between the flat base plate and the 2 round extension. Thanks for watching!
I know a lot of 1st time or newbies that won't buy a gun without a safety. Folks that hate safeties tend to go to the high-end. I don't see the GX4 lasting around longer than the G3c/G2c.
Under duress fine motor skills tend to go out the window. Safeties can be hard to manipulate when your shaking and your pulse is racing. They certainly have their place, but I think Taurus made the right call leaving it off of the GX4. THANKS FOR WATCHING!
@@JayLewisFarmStyle Using a manual safety is no big deal folks make it out to be. Just practice and train with it. Folks learned to use it or not before there were pistols without manual safeties. Just because its there does not mean you have to use it. Maybe Taurus will come out with a manual safety version and an optics version for the GX4. As for inconsistent chamber support, I think Taurus will fix that problem and the trigger problems (some triggers are not working properly) some are having with the new design after the newness of the GX4 wears off. I have never owned a Taurus that did not have chamber support. Lack of chamber support compromises the safe function of the pistol and make no mistake the risk of a blown up pistol is greater regardless of the ammo used. It can happen with factory loads as well as reloads. That is a fact and should not be taken lightly like Glock does who is now facing a class action law suit for it and blown up pistols. I have a G2c and its a great pistol. May or may not get a GX4 down the road but time will tell.
You know that there are many other pistol 🔫 😏 that has about the same amount of Take-Up it's not 👎 just taurus pistol I hate when people say that because Evidently they don't spend enough time with them
Yeah I got the midnight bronze version, the slide is a little too smooth but it's such a beautiful little gun. Palmetto has a special on em for 300 right now with free shipping.
I think you’re being a bit unreasonable about the laser battery life. I don’t have any experience with Viridian but something being dead or nearly dead after a month should be expected, it’s been a whole month lol
I also got the Viridian laser when I got my G2C. It died sitting in my range bag. Contacted the company, zero response. I even registered the laser with them when I got it. They don’t give a sh*t. Glad it was just the battery, but they aren’t simple to change. I sold the gun recently, didn’t even mention the laser since I didn’t think it was a decent product.
Liked and subscribed! Enjoyed your no frills fact filled review! I have a Taurus G3C and was considering purchasing the GX4! I came across a video Taurus GX4 trigger Problems. A guy purchased the GX4 and had a issue at the range! He mentioned he is a tall guy whose hands really swallows up the GX4! He mentioned how his trigger finger being long uses middle of index finger pulling the trigger! He admits not good could affect accuracy! But after shooting 40 + he pulled trigger no bank. He didn’t clear his GX4 went to put it in his holster and gun goes off nearly hitting him. He seemed to feel that while he had his finger off the trigger on the slide! That the slide somehow initiated the striker! Taurus asked him to send back to them because there have been some similar issues with the trigger! Check out his video and I would like to hear what you think!
I am not having the same Viridian battery problems with my GC3 but shoot better using the iron sights and probably would have not purchased it had i waited until fired a couple hundred rounds thru the handgun.

10 or 11 pound ???? Trigger on a G3c ???? My scales say 6.5 lb .. but the take up has alot to do with the felt pull … 🤣 PT111 , G2C , G3C share same mags & they can use the 15 & 17 round G3 Also you can buy flat base mags for the G2c & G3c , I actually trimmed the pinky extension off with a dermal … 🤣 I look at the G2C/G3C size wise as a Glock 26+ … or now a Shield Plus … Im personally going to look close at a GX4 as my next purchase.. when the honeymoon stage is over and they roll out with a stainless steel slide .. and prices drop bout 75 to 100 bucks … To me .. I will never pocket carry any 9mm pistol …. So any of these new mini double stack 9s will be carried OWB or IWB The Shield Plus is a G3C size-wise so it doesn’t count as a mini double stack 9 At this time on Gunbroker you can get a P365 for 75 to 100 bucks more than a GX4. Great comment! Bear in mind when I said the trigger felt like 10 or 11 pounds, I was referencing the 2nd strike mode, not the normal trigger pull where the striker is preset in the ready to fire position. If you get a chance put your trigger pull gauge on the trigger in the 2nd strike mode and pull it a couple of times and see what it reads in relation to the normal trigger pull. Another thing I will add as it comes up frequently in these subsequent GX4 series videos that I made, is at the onset of this project I set out to compare the GX4 not only to other 10 + 1 (or greater) micro 9 of similar size but also to 10 + 1 subcompact 9 mm pistols that up until a couple of years ago were what you had to contend with if you wanted that kind of carry capacity in a 9mm. I say that with the caveat that yes I realize Keltec made some little high capacity micro 9 years ago, that what I recall from 1st hand experience was they were very painful to shoot and had what I consider to be a really bad trigger on them. They were to a degree groundbreaking but I believe they are a design that never really caught on for good reason. I actually thought about flattening the base plates on my G3C magazines also! Lol! I just chose not to because I don't see myself carrying in a capacity where it would be necessary. Thanks again for watching!
I've got the G2c and the G3 for myself and bought a G3c for my daughter. Hers will not chamber or shoot flat tipped 147 gr ammo where mine will. I probably would have bought the GX4 instead of my Hellcat OSP had I known about the GX4 mainly because I'm frugal (another way of saying cheap). I can't compare them because I don't have access to the Taurus. I'd like to see a comparison between the G2c and the GX4.

I PERSONALLY just don't like the MICRO-COMPACT (just to snappy & difficult to hit your target unless it's 5' or closer) the G3C is the PERFECT SIZE for EDC "IMO" for like the summer months & G19 for Fall/winter months

The Gx4 is selling like hot cakes finally found one in stock at my local academy waited forever for them to stock them again it’s an awesome pistol 400 rounds fired out of it with no issues so far.
If you mean an external manual safety then no it does not. It does have a trigger blade safety like many other striker fired handguns. Hope that helps.

Taurus should have done away with the second strike capability with 9 mm ammo you hardly ever need anything like that then they could have put a good trigger on that gun

Why are carbon fiber holsters so popular they are so uncomfortable. Leather is 5x better.

You can replace your slide on the Taurus G3C for a Taurus G3C toro slide. It cost $150 and it comes with the plates. Sold at Taurus.

The G3C only has a long trigger take on the first shot due to the double action. However, the follow-up shots are short and crisp. You did not show that.

I have the GC3 which is my EDC and am very happy with it. Coastal Farm and Ranch has the GX4 under $350. I am waiting for it to drop closer to $300.
I've seen some decent prices online recently (picked up a complete Mlok 9mm upper for $299 the other day). I'm actually working on a budget/ entry level/ poverty tier/ economy/ EDC video using the G3C. I'm hoping the GX4 will settle in around $300-$340 range. The G3C is more than likely going to maintain a lower price point than the GX4. The two platforms are going to draw a different fan base to a degree. I like them both but for very different reasons.

Why do you want a lighy on your carry gun? A home defense gun, I agree a light is useful. Unless you know the laws of your state, a gun light on your edc can make for a possible bad day in court.
Huge Plus for me is that The G3c will also accommodate Sig P226 Mags. That was a Determining Factor for me. I replaced my trigger for $25 with a carbon fiber one and the Take up issue is gone

I held both at store before buying the G3C....Im a heavy guy with short fat fingers and i couldnt get the 3 finger grip i wanted on the butt of the GX4. That was a deal breaker for me. A proper purchase for good control means infinitely more on an EDC for me than a refined trigger does. The G3C however gives me just enough length on the butt for that pinky finger which allows me to retain a tighter grip, giving me more control with my dominant hand and enough real estate for good positioning with my support hand. In a situation where I'm relying on that gun to save my life, Im not going to be thinking about how many pounds the trigger is or how short the reset is.... they'll be enough adrenaline pumping through your body to easily deploy a 12 lb trigger without even noticing it. My first thought is going to be getting the proper grip on that butt right out of the holster so I can release the safety and be on target without having to wait for my support hand to help reposition the firearm in my dominant hand. CONTROL IS EVERYTHING. Yes you can get the GX4 and BUY 3 extended 13 rnd mags, but then you're overall $200 more than the G3C and its 3 stock 12 rnd mags that are just long enough to begin with. Best $250 I ever spent, Sig, S&W and Glock can all kick dirt. Thank you Taurus.

About the red laser, I had the same issue is it’s called, a parasitic draw. I contacted the company and they send me a replacement.
Yep that is exactly what it is. Did the replacement work as intended?

Well if I wanted a gun specifically for Carrie I would pick the gx4. But if I want a gun that I can carry and when I get home I could throw a light on it so that way I can put it on my dresser for home defense I would pick the g3c cuz it has a picatinny. Now because of them both being under $400 I would just go ahead and pick up both of them I got my carry I have another gun that I can carry so that way I could switch them out a little bit here and there and when I do carry the gx4 when I get home I can put that in the safe pull out my g3c and there goes my home defense pistol.
It's always better to have more guns! Lol

IMHO, the GX4 wasn't intended to compete with the G3C. It's aimed at the P365, Heck-Kitty, Max-9, Shield Plus. The G3C is still a good gun. I own both. The GX4 has become my go-to gun for concealment. I'll probably sell my G3C and EC9S. I've been there and done that with aftermarket triggers on both my SD series guns. It was fun but I'm over it and have better things to spend my money and time on (a weapons-grade-cute granddaughter for one) than modifying triggers on $300 guns.
I concur, it's not a fair comparison. 2 different classes of pistols.

It looks like the GX4 with the pinky extension is still shorter in height than the G3c with it's standard pinky rest mag base plate. What is the height difference between these 2 set-ups? Again, a well done video. Thanks.
I haven't had a chance to measure it yet but it is a little bit shorter the pinky extension is kind of a halfway length between the flat base plate and the 2 round extension. Thanks for watching!

I know a lot of 1st time or newbies that won't buy a gun without a safety. Folks that hate safeties tend to go to the high-end. I don't see the GX4 lasting around longer than the G3c/G2c.
Under duress fine motor skills tend to go out the window. Safeties can be hard to manipulate when your shaking and your pulse is racing. They certainly have their place, but I think Taurus made the right call leaving it off of the GX4.

@@JayLewisFarmStyle Using a manual safety is no big deal folks make it out to be. Just practice and train with it. Folks learned to use it or not before there were pistols without manual safeties. Just because its there does not mean you have to use it. Maybe Taurus will come out with a manual safety version and an optics version for the GX4. As for inconsistent chamber support, I think Taurus will fix that problem and the trigger problems (some triggers are not working properly) some are having with the new design after the newness of the GX4 wears off. I have never owned a Taurus that did not have chamber support. Lack of chamber support compromises the safe function of the pistol and make no mistake the risk of a blown up pistol is greater regardless of the ammo used. It can happen with factory loads as well as reloads. That is a fact and should not be taken lightly like Glock does who is now facing a class action law suit for it and blown up pistols. I have a G2c and its a great pistol. May or may not get a GX4 down the road but time will tell.
You know that there are many other pistol 🔫 😏 that has about the same amount of Take-Up it's not 👎 just taurus pistol I hate when people say that because Evidently they don't spend enough time with them

I think you’re being a bit unreasonable about the laser battery life. I don’t have any experience with Viridian but something being dead or nearly dead after a month should be expected, it’s been a whole month lol

I also got the Viridian laser when I got my G2C. It died sitting in my range bag. Contacted the company, zero response. I even registered the laser with them when I got it. They don’t give a sh*t. Glad it was just the battery, but they aren’t simple to change. I sold the gun recently, didn’t even mention the laser since I didn’t think it was a decent product.
I've actually got a brand new laser sitting on my kitchen counter that Viridian sent me as a warranty replacement. Video update will be out soon.
LakelineLLC has better pinky extensions.
That’s where I got mine, stippled and a lot better grip.
Lakeline extension is superior to factory offering.
Liked and subscribed! Enjoyed your no frills fact filled review! I have a Taurus G3C and was considering purchasing the GX4! I came across a video Taurus GX4 trigger Problems. A guy purchased the GX4 and had a issue at the range! He mentioned he is a tall guy whose hands really swallows up the GX4! He mentioned how his trigger finger being long uses middle of index finger pulling the trigger! He admits not good could affect accuracy! But after shooting 40 + he pulled trigger no bank. He didn’t clear his GX4 went to put it in his holster and gun goes off nearly hitting him. He seemed to feel that while he had his finger off the trigger on the slide! That the slide somehow initiated the striker! Taurus asked him to send back to them because there have been some similar issues with the trigger! Check out his video and I would like to hear what you think!

They do sell a extender besides the pinky extender. Based on what you showed us, pinky extender is not going to help me

I am not having the same Viridian battery problems with my GC3 but shoot better using the iron sights and probably would have not purchased it had i waited until fired a couple hundred rounds thru the handgun.

I bought my wife a GX4 to carry and I've come to like it so much that i am going to trade in my G3C for it
I prefer the GX4 also. Palmetto State has the two tone model for around $320. That way you can tell them apart!

PT111 , G2C , G3C share same mags & they can use the 15 & 17 round G3
Also you can buy flat base mags for the G2c & G3c , I actually trimmed the pinky extension off with a dermal … 🤣
I look at the G2C/G3C size wise as a Glock 26+ … or now a Shield Plus …
Im personally going to look close at a GX4 as my next purchase.. when the honeymoon stage is over and they roll out with a stainless steel slide .. and prices drop bout 75 to 100 bucks …
To me .. I will never pocket carry any 9mm pistol …. So any of these new mini double stack 9s will be carried OWB or IWB
The Shield Plus is a G3C size-wise so it doesn’t count as a mini double stack 9
At this time on Gunbroker you can get a P365 for 75 to 100 bucks more than a GX4.
P365 all day in my book , proven design

Great comment! Bear in mind when I said the trigger felt like 10 or 11 pounds, I was referencing the 2nd strike mode, not the normal trigger pull where the striker is preset in the ready to fire position. If you get a chance put your trigger pull gauge on the trigger in the 2nd strike mode and pull it a couple of times and see what it reads in relation to the normal trigger pull.
Another thing I will add as it comes up frequently in these subsequent GX4 series videos that I made, is at the onset of this project I set out to compare the GX4 not only to other 10 + 1 (or greater) micro 9 of similar size but also to 10 + 1 subcompact 9 mm pistols that up until a couple of years ago were what you had to contend with if you wanted that kind of carry capacity in a 9mm.
I say that with the caveat that yes I realize Keltec made some little high capacity micro 9 years ago, that what I recall from 1st hand experience was they were very painful to shoot and had what I consider to be a really bad trigger on them. They were to a degree groundbreaking but I believe they are a design that never really caught on for good reason.
I actually thought about flattening the base plates on my G3C magazines also! Lol! I just chose not to because I don't see myself carrying in a capacity where it would be necessary.

I've got the G2c and the G3 for myself and bought a G3c for my daughter. Hers will not chamber or shoot flat tipped 147 gr ammo where mine will. I probably would have bought the GX4 instead of my Hellcat OSP had I known about the GX4 mainly because I'm frugal (another way of saying cheap). I can't compare them because I don't have access to the Taurus. I'd like to see a comparison between the G2c and the GX4.

I PERSONALLY just don't like the MICRO-COMPACT (just to snappy & difficult to hit your target unless it's 5' or closer) the G3C is the PERFECT SIZE for EDC "IMO" for like the summer months & G19 for Fall/winter months
They're not for everyone.

Does the GX4 have a safety on it?
If you mean an external manual safety then no it does not. It does have a trigger blade safety like many other striker fired handguns.

Gx4 is a micro 9 thats y its smaller but the internals on the gx4 is better then any other taurus 9mm idc wat nobody say the gx4 is better then a glock 43 n sig and also you can get a 30 rd drum and 50 rd drum for the gx4 i got the brown n black gx4 with glock 43 glow in the dark sights 👌🏽🔥🔥i live taurus i got a 357 taurus too nasty lil revolver

Taurus should have done away with the second strike capability with 9 mm ammo you hardly ever need anything like that then they could have put a good trigger on that gun
