A beautifully elegant Rover P6 2200TC with just 42,465 miles from new.
    EQUIPMENT
Main body of welded steel construction, aluminium alloy bonnet and boot lid, underbody protection, 2200TC wing badges, front and rear quarter light openers, quad beam headlamps, front side lamp clusters with top prism, rev counter, gauges for engine temperature, oil pressure, ammeter. Factory options; Front headrests.
    EXTERIOR
Boasting the accolade of winning the very first European Car of the Year award in 1964, the all new and innovative Rover P6 was a ‘clean sheet’ design and replaced the aging P4. This stunning 2200TC model is finished in the original colour of Mexico Brown, (Code ACC), as denoted on the Factory Record Certificate issued by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. The deep lustrous shine to the paintwork looks incredible and boasts a beautiful uniform finish. All panels are in outstanding order with clean seams lines and factory spot welds that positively separate this car from the usual patched up and bodged examples. There is a very light long scratch to the lower rear nearside wing, not very noticeable. All factory chrome has a bright mirror finish with only light aging and the trim sections and rubbers are in excellent order. The boot lid and front wing Rover and 2200TC badges are near perfect but the front Rover emblem is crazed and discoloured.
    INTERIOR
The lavish interior is typical of this era of Rover and remains in outstanding original condition commensurate with the low 42,465 miles covered. The factory coverings to the box-pleated double-corded brushed nylon seats in Sandalwood are in excellent condition and are free from damage or significant wear. The matching door cards with wood veneer cappings and the headlining are immaculate and the beautifully ornate steering wheel and switchgear are a delight for appreciators of the bygone era. All functions and controls operate including the original LW/MW radio. The carpets are clean with a few very isolated and small areas of thinning to the main touch points. The huge luggage area boasts a neat custom made and removable false floor to hide the spare wheel as opposed the original vertical mounted arrangement.
    ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Powered by the factory fitted 2200TC specification engine, this four-cylinder unit with aluminium alloy head and twin S.U.HIF 6 carburettors produces 115bhp and 183Nm of torque. The engine breathes through a stainless-steel exhaust and performs brilliantly, is surprisingly swift and a real pleasure to drive. The unmolested engine bay is beautifully clean and displays factory stickers, labels and the inner wings both have the original chassis number stamp. The four-speed gearbox has synchromesh on all forward gears and operates brilliantly.
    WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Full width easy-clean polished stainless steel trim covers are in remarkable condition and look superb, and the matching classic style tyres of size 165/80 R14 have masses of tread remaining. Factory fitted with Girling disc brakes front and rear and featuring servo assistance, new discs have been fitted to the front and the braking system overhauled.
    HISTORY FILE
This incredible example was registered new on 17th January 1974 to a Mr Veal by Rover Main Dealer, Mann Egerton Limited in Norfolk. The Factory Record Certificate issued by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust confirms this example as a factory RHD car for the UK Home Market with the date of build being the 6th December 1973. The exterior colour of Mexico Brown is recorded along with all vehicle identification numbers that match that of the Factory Record Certificate. There are just five former keepers in total one of which known well to KGF Classic Cars, Mr Berridge, a retired Mechanical Engineer and Draughtsman of esteemed seniority. The car was kept in the highly talented Mr Berridges large garden workshop where he also made from scratch incredible scaled down ride-on Land Rover’s for his Grandchildren, fully working with electric motors!
The large history file supports the genuine 42,465 miles from new and includes the original Passport to Service (service book) and the Rover 2200 owner’s manual. A comprehensive file of invoices and MOT certificates date back to the early 1980’s and service records date back to the PDI and running in service carried out in 1974.
    HPI clear.

Beautiful, why on earth a 1980’s or 1990’s Ford goes for multiples of this amazes me. I would rather this any day

It always amazes me how these old Rovers are such good value to buy. The P6 was one of the best engineered cars ever, with ride & handling way beyond anything else this side of a Jag XJ.

Wow I do love the Rover P6 range, they were lovely cars built to a high standard & built well ahead of their time as well! I like the dashboard, switch gear & original working pushbutton radio & that interior looks very inviting even though it is cloth & not leather.
This example is absolutely outstanding & whoever has bought this car now please look after it & keep it garaged as did the previous 2 owners of the car.
My late grandfather had the 3500 V8 version which had power steering & leather interior, a lovely car that was painted in Custard Yellow bought brand new in 1973.
Keep up the good work KGF Classic Cars.

Such a lovely car. Nice colour, nice interior, lovely period design. You just can't go wrong with one of these. Sensible price too and puts into perspective how ludicrously overpriced those RS Ford's are.

Oh I am so envious of the lucky so-and-so that gets to buy this! When I was a kid my dad dragged a very late 3500 S out of a scrapyard, and did a full nut and bolt ground up restoration. I was stunned when he replaced it wih an SD1. Don't get me wrong, I really like the SD1, but nothing compares to a P6 to me.

Great looking example, I had dozens of P6 models in the late 70s and 80s, some with the Touring Kit. The spare could be carried inside, or on the boot with that option. You can easily tell those with it fitted, they have a round chrome Rover badge on the boot lid, covering the mount point when it's not in use.

Lovely car. Shame you didn't slam the doors - no car has ever sounded so good as the P6. Best designed interior of any car of its day, except the stupid wooden panels. I had a white 2200TC, wrapped it round a lamppost on the A30 on an icy Christmas Eve. Went out with the insurance money and bought a 3500S.

Picture the scene. 1981, aged 18. Me in my Granada 2500 (L reg) and my mate Si in a Rover as above (M reg) total value of both cars about £800. We could afford cars like that in those days….. The rover was more luxurious but the old granny never lost a race up Hamble Lane …. But I think that was due to wreckless stupidity rather than power …
