Ken Zuckerman - Sarod & Ustad Zakir Hussain - Tabla, Raga Durgeshwari

Raga Durgeshwari is a beautiful evening raga and is the creation of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan's father, the legendary master, Ustad Allauddin Khan. It has both elements of ragas Durga and Rageshri, as well as hints of other ragas. This recording is from a live concert in Switzerland in the early 1990's.
I have been very fortunate to receive immeasurable help and guidance during almost 50 years of studying Indian Classical Music. Not only did my guru, Ustad Ali Akbar Khansahib, tirelessly share his "ocean" of knowledge with all his disciples, but other maestros who also taught at his College, like Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, were like elder brothers to me and were incredibly generous with their encouragement and support. I have also been very lucky to be able to perform with them many times over the years, which has always been both inspiring and instructive. I will always cherish and be grateful for all their guidance and love.

As per 'sath sangat' is concerned Zakir Bhai is all time suitable with everyone and all format of music. I had an opportunity of touch his feet for four to five times from 1995 to 2005. Once again I am tendering my heart-felt respect to this legend.

I was privileged to have witnessed Ustad Zakir Hussain perform at The Painted Bride in Philadelphia several times around the turn of the century and yourself at Swarthmore College around the same time.
