    Moja rodzina też miała działkę, chociaż nie ROD i była ona większa, z przeznaczeniem na ogród warzywno-owocowy. To była dla mnie nauka co to znaczy praca, bo działka była dość duża i roboty było wiele. Okazało się np., że jedziesz do roboty w sobotę i zakładasz, że jak już zrobisz to co miałeś zrobić czy miałeś zaplanowane, to spadasz i zaczynasz weekend. Ale zawsze może okazać, że może być coś jeszcze konieczne do zrobienia. No, i trzeba to zrobić... Trochę u Dziadka na wakacjach pomagałem w gospodarstwie i to było coś podobnego. Ale jak na to patrzę z dłuższej perspektywy, to uważam, że to było bardzo fajne (np. dlatego, że rodzinne) i później w życiu przydatne.

    The idea of an Ogród działkowy - allotment garden comes from the UK. The first were created in Birmingham (1732). An allotment (British English), or in North America, a community garden, is a plot of land made available for individual, non-commercial gardening or growing food plants, so forming a kitchen garden away from the residence of the user. Many "community gardens" founded in the United States began as "victory gardens" in World War II, and later evolved into community gardens. Such allotment gardens also operate in the USA. Although there are few of them now. Allotment gardens operate in many other countries.

    Great video! I first learned about the concept in Germany in the '90s. How would one go about finding a ROD garden for sale? Is there a website where these are listed? If you live there, how do you show that you have a primary residence elsewhere? Thank you!

    • @anamericaninpoland
      @anamericaninpoland  Рік тому +1

      You have to have a primary residence such as an apartment or house to be eligible purchase an allotment and you aren't officially allowed to live in the gardens so you cannot use it for residency purposes especially as a foreigner with TRC. Typically allotments are advertised on apps such as Facebook marketplace or OLX but sometimes you can check the community bulletin board at the garden and people will advertise a plot for sale there. Some gardens will require that your primary residence is within a close distance to the garden as well, the reason for this requirement is they don't want people to let the garden to become destitute because it's too far for them to travel to.

    • @anamericaninpoland
      @anamericaninpoland  Рік тому

      @@karolak9983 it could be done privately as well. The reason I say government is because state and federal land can be used. The problem with it being done privately is land value and taxes on that property in most states are so high that it would make it cost prohibitive. If government lands were used those costs could easily be so but completely removed.

Growing up in the USA I've seen community gardens but it's usually a small garden where each person gets a percentage of the yield from each crop depending on how much time they put into the garden. • @anamericaninpoland
      @anamericaninpoland  Рік тому

      I'm not sure to be honest. I think part of it is because the traditional use of the property is for vegetable gardening and the structures on the plots near/in the cities tend to be very minimalistic. So it's a public welfare situation. There has been some conversation throughout the government about the situation but it's a very contentious topic for some reason. I think in the not so distant future the rule may change but it's hard to say for sure.

    "Ogródki działkowe" for my generation brought up in the city, in the concrete desert (I was born in 1979). In the 90s it was a perfect place for partying and barbecuing (for us as teenagers ). You just had to remember not to trample the beds of cucumbers or other tomatoes, because that generation of our fathers and mothers had some ambition to have something that grew on their own, I think it was a hobby, because it was no longer about feeding the family like, no I know 30 40 years ago.

      Most of these properties are sold in cash transactions from my understanding banks will not give a loan for the purchase of a ROD. The best advice I can give is search on OLX or Facebook for a rod property in the area you are looking for. Be prepared if the garden is close to the city it can have a smaller parcel size and greater restrictions on what can be built and how often you can access it with your car. For example one garden in Gniezno only allows gardeners to enter the garden with their car on Wednesday each week and the parcel size is about half the standard size.
