@@MikeyTheMacaw I have a bird peeta she is a budgie. When we first got her the pet store sadly clipped her wings. :( so when she bonded to me enough, I decided to start helping her build wing muscles. So she likes these mirror I have in my room so I began bye putting her near the mirror and letting her step up and down from my finger to it. (Yes I'm aware mirrors can cause aggression I only used it for training) then i started going further and further to build up we wing muscle. Then i started going downstairs were i placed her cage farther and farther away so she could fly to it. I have had her for 10 months now and she is now a year old, she looks SO much happier and healthier and now is able to fly, loop, curve, and even dip her flying all around the house! 😊
The dedication of never giving up. Mia has completely changed. Seeing every step of Mia from being completely scared to complete confidence is amazing.
So so soo happy that Mia has achieved her goal!! Her first year of life must have been very stressful considering the fact that she was in a small budgie cage. For her to have her freedom taken away from her by her previous owners, losing her confidence to fly, to then being injured after regaining that confidence to fly and then be able to still feel like a true bird is amazing. She truly is an amazing and strong bird.
im a bird noob, so no idea how long different birds need to regrow/molt feathers. i do know there are different types of clipping. My GF has 2 lovebirds, 1 older and totally wild(gotten from a random pet store), 1 hand raised, super cuddly n trusting etc, that was a replacement partner for the older after her x comitted unsupervised jailbreak and a cat incident occured:(((( (new cage that they cant learn to open as long as we dont leave lockpics around)(ps, the bird got a nice grave, the cat that killed him died shortly after in a car related confrontation and got burried close by:S ) now, we live in NL where perma clipping is illegal and rightfully so, but she did get her bird's flight feathers shortened once early on so they could still sort of fly but not for long n had no problems with controlled descent. her vet suggested it as a training tool so they would be more reliant on her.. she accepted for the new, tame youg bird, but only hesitantly for the wild one, figuring if she cant fly properly n lands on the ground, the last thing she will do is come to my GF for help( my GF used a stick instead of her hand and the wild bird would eventually happily step up onto that n be ferried back to her perch/the cage). given they r lovebirds n the type of clipping, it lasts 2-4 weeks before the feathers are replaced or compensated for or whatever. its basically just making flight more energy intensive. im still categorically against any sort of willful disabling of the birds, but given it was vet advice etc and it was only done to the young tame lovebird, it may???? have worked out ok? he def got his strength up and training step up, walking recall and a nice spin trick were easier. he also got super strong and learned that flying in a straight line is super cool, but being able to turn and avoid things may also have its place. given he can only fly inside the house, the extra workout may have done him ok. he is now a total show off acrobat a year on. he loves flying around the house, and were in the process of teaching him how to do a barrel roll(my GF's task) and how to military march with feet up every step while walking (mine) and he loves the attention. again, i am categorically against clipping, just sharing my experiences when i had no say in the matter with a totally different breed PS. recently, the older bird(Min) keeps following the tame bird (Plus) around. Plus knows no personal boundaries. he(dont actually know his sex yet) will happily land on u, strut over ur arm/shoulder like he owns the place, n if u let him by opening your mouth, he is a living toothpick. he is also hyper curious, if he is around while were cooking, he is right there. i was cutting up vegs the other day, he landed on my shoulder, insta walked down my arm onto my wrist/hand n wanted to try everything i was cutting up. i put him back on my shoulder, within a few secs hes back on my hand... had to watch out with my knife, he would have put his neck between the blade n the block just to check out what was happening:P

Awesome done by your human parents and you Mia, I am really happy for you. Seeing you fly like that is wonderful and I am glad your humans and you didn't give up after that one horrible experience.
Oh know full well Mia's story is literal and courageous and mommy human and daddy did a lot of hard work to make it happen for her. It's Also a wonderful metaphorical story, getting flapping and inspired to get to learn free flight! Lessons learned: don't quit no matter what! Have someone around that does what you want to be able to do, with graceful skill, have people in your camp that "egg" you on, celebrate your every small or large accomplishment (and comfort you on days when you feel you've failed) and love you no matter how you're doing on the chosen skill! Eventually you will be soaring high! Mia, Mikey mommy & daddy human...you've brought me to tears & I've been watching for years already
Congratulations to Mia!!! And happy birthday☺️ so happy to see her flying once more! Bless you two for taking the time and patience to train her to free flight and provide a loving and welcoming family 😊

Do it in a wide open area like birdtricks youtuber dont be irresponsible and try to teach a bird to free flight bird in the city. These people lose there birds more times than anyone iv ever seen and are very lucky a bloody face and a few overnights is all thats happened...
Footage, script and music for a story starring a beautiful bird with a happy outcome - thank-you. Both of the human members of your family and your musician deserve all the superlatives.
Awww thanks so much. This really was such an amazing journey to put together.
MIA HAS THE SAME DATE OF BIRTHDAY LIKE ME
Hehe, well don't eat too many pizzas or you may not live as long as Mia does! 😉
Haha yay
@@MikeyTheMacaw Yep, and you could be in your eighties before Mia takes flight for birdy Heaven.
Aw bless! When Mia got hurt I was so terrified but you guys persisted and kept going..I personally would’ve been too scared to carry on...
It was such a hard decision to keep going after that but we are so glad we did. It was so worth it.
*2019 is an amazing year*
well for birb peoples :>
Haha yes it is.
You guys are amazing! Both Mikey and Mia live amazing lives! Thank for for rescuing Mia ❤️❤️ I hope to free fly train my bird one day. They are so beautiful when they fly
Awww thanks. Free flight is a lifestyle so do keep that in mind. Once you start, you can’t stop.
Mikey The Macaw & Friends Yeah! I have a feeling I won’t stop free flying them once I start! Haha!
6:55 made me cry so hard

Awww thanks.
I love you and your wife! you are trueily extrodinary people that have taken the responsibliity, time, love, money, and patience to truely give these extroinary birds the qulity of life they deserve as your friends....this was so touching I was in tears....How anyone could take the flight away from any bird is beyond me....even my sweet little budgies flying around the house, their is something amazing and magical about them....thank you again for sharing mia's journey.
Aww thanks so much for such a lovely comment.
This is one of the best videos on UA-cam...
Awww, she did so well right.
This was so amazing and inspirational! I’ve been following your story with Mia since the beginning and it is so touching. You guys are honestly the best people Mia could have gone too and you never gave up on her. I hope to see more amazing videos in the future ❤️.
Awww thanks so much. It was such a long journey but so worth it and so so rewarding.
Incredible, just incredible. Mia has some such a long way and seeing her fly is just. Such a reward to even just watch. You did an amazing thing for her.
She loves it so much too
So happy to see Mia fly again, like a dream come true!
It really is. We smile every time.
This is so beautiful, sad, and emotional 😍😭I’m so happy for Mia. Thank you mommy human and daddy human.
Aww thanks. So many ups and downs but we finally got there. We are so proud of her.
You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this
Haha aww hope you enjoyed it.
Great work you all! Your patience, love, persistence and encouragement really paid off! Proud of you guys!
This video made me cry. My eyes betray me! I tried so hard not too, but my eyes just watered and over flowed with happiness and fright when you two had found her beaten on the face. You two are amazing bird owners, and I hope to espier to be the same. I've been wanting to get a bird for so long now, but will not until I know that it is time, that I have everything ready, and have learned everything that I can without them first...thank you, even if you hadn't even meant to become youtubers lol, I cant wait for the next video.
Awww thanks so much. It was such a long journey for us filled with emotion but we are so glad we persisted. It really made it so worth it.
The best video I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you for sharing your journey with Mikey & Mia with us!
Awww thanks so much.
I'm only 3 minutes in and I'm tearing up. All birds deserve the gift of flight, whether indoors or outdoors. You guy are incredible.
Awww thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the video.
A human taught a bird how to fly. You are really something out of this cruel world. You, the type of people you are is what animals need. Really made me cry, thank you so much. ♡
It was really so rewarding. She is so happy now.
Awesome done by your human parents and you Mia, I am really happy for you. Seeing you fly like that is wonderful and I am glad your humans and you didn't give up after that one horrible experience.
It was a hard one to continue but now she has a lifetime of free flying
That was so beautiful.
Thank you for caring for her.
God bless you and your wife.
I love to see tge videos you have.
They are beautiful birds.❤❤
Its two years down the line, I can't believe the amazing job you did with Mia and Mikey. You guys are stars thanks for sharing.
Yea it’s crazy how far she has come.
Aww thanks so much. It’s so rewarding to see how happy she is now.

I know right. Not even a year yet.
They are so beautiful in flight.
Mia looked so happy with herself when she landed except the first free flight where she looked a bit panicky mixed with a bit of relief. Good job you two, amazing watching your birds grow along side you. 💕
Thanks so much. Yes she is so happy
#80👍Oh my goodness such a wonderful, inspirational story of two beautiful hoomans enhancing a beautiful bird’s life to her fullest👏😘🦜👱🏻♀️👨🏼🦲‼️

Fantastic journey with Mia and Mommy Human! Your voice over daddy human is huge bonus! “As she took to the skies like the queen she was” Who writes the script? Congrats daddy human!
