So poignant because it isn`t just Finian saying goodbye to Sharon and all his Rainbow Valley friends, it`s also Fred Astaire`s farewell to a beautiful 35 year career in films. Thank You Fred for all the wonderful, magical memories you gave to us.
Lorraine
Only farewell to musicals. He continued to act on screen.

My dad always loved the song and movie ..rip my angel father
Old folks like myself love this when I sing it along with Look to the Rainbow. There is a richness here, and every kid on the planet should see the musicals to see the decent side of life.
Warren Pugh God it makes me cry!Follow the fellow who fallows his dream.
Some arrangers do such a splendid job that you can easily sense the feeling without the lyrics.
Warren Pugh Yeah but when Gipp Harberg was in the drivers seat[''Cabin In The Sky''-ironic-here]you took off into the atmosphere
Warren Pugh You're never old;20 sometings are finding this musicand it's new-yong- to them. They kept and restored L.P.s!
ever time time you look to a Rainbow, there is always a beautiful world below.
It's like one of my dreams I've had❤
My favorite scene of this movie was at the beginning when Petula Clark sings Look To The Rainbow and How are things in Glocca Morra. There was such beautiful scenery at the beginning.
Petula Clark, nice woman, great singer
💖
If you're ever in the republic of Ireland, you must stay at Gloccamora B&B, they inspired their B&B by this song. The two hosts are just the most kind people you'll meet.
Where is it?
Jack Kennedy Used to Play this tune Over And Over To Remember His Sister Kathleen Who perished in A plane Crash In 1948.
Still love it in 2020 ❤️
theory: glocca morra was the place in heaven for irish travelers and wanderers. kudos to the cast and crew.
I fell in love with that leprechaun when I was 9 years old - funny I ended up married to an Irishman haha!
good on ya,may the sun always shine on your back.
My favorite Irish songs
You could do worse! Congrats!
And I married an Irish Lady in 1981. This June we will have our 40th anniversary.
A wonderful film indeed! I had the pleasure of meeting Don Francks on two or three occasions in Toronto and was saddened by his death earlier this year. A lovely and kind man he was.
poltallach Sad to hear of his passing.
It was sad Thomas. I believe it was kept quiet.
one of very favorite movies! A beautiful song with the wonderfully graceful Fred Astaire
The song “How are things in Glorra Mocca” was really a popular touching song! It’s so attractively popular was mainly due to its rapport feeling of rhythm, especially its main melody of voice like the important person who have not been seen so long to appear suddenly & unexpectedly, and he/she greets to you deeply & sincerely to make you so touching to weep out......
Maravilloso 😅
I've always had extremely high regard for "How Are Things in Glocca Morra" and maybe even higher regard for Petula Clark's face.
Younger readers may be interested to know that Burton Lane, composer of the music from Finian's Rainbow, is credited with discovering 13-year-old Frances Gumm, shortly afterward to be known as Judy Garland. (My memory says she was signed to an MGM contract the day after discovery.)
Sang this when I was in 8th grade and always loved it. Never saw the movie. Love it tho!
I hope you will rent or buy Finnian's Rainbow 🌈 some day. Well worth the time and money!
i share your appreciation of this movie - to me there was great humanity, acting and singing all in one.
goerizal1 Coppola got the perfect cast here.
+John Inman I "liked" the film but the ending was a bit sad, Fred looked sad as he left. Top star as he was. Slán
ONE OF MY FAVORTE MUSICALS
My favorite ending score to a musical.
Thank you so much ‘Alex Soleta’ for the lyrics to this beautiful, passionate song! Just love the movie, “Finnian’s Rainbow”. 🥰👍
I hear a bird, Londonderry bird,
It well may be he's bringing me a cheering word.
I hear a breeze, a River Shanon breeze,
It well may be it's followed me across the seas.
Then tell me please
How are things in Glocca Morra?
Is that little brook still leaping there?
Does it still run down to Donny cove?
Through Killybegs, Kilkerry and Kildare?
How are things in Glocca Mora?
Is that willow tree still weeping there?
Does that lassie with the twinklin' eye
Come smilin' by and does she walk away,
Sad and dreamy there not to see me there?
So I ask each weepin' willow and each brook along the way,
And each lass that comes a-sighin' too ra lay
How are things in Glocca Morra this fine day?
Love Fred Astaire! They're all great in this though;Tommy,Petula,Don,Keenan etc..Love it!
Saw the movie as a kid and that song has always stuck with me. Movie was directed by Francis Ford Coppola, interestingly enough.
Nicholas Cage is his son.
I see Fred Astaire's picture in the foyer at one of his dance studios every week and it is sunshine on a dark night. What an inspirational guy.
Love this movie finians rainbow
I wish to God I could have seen the animated version of this musical that was never finished. Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong were all going to do voice-work on it. If only.
What's wrong with this Fred Astaire was still dancing at his age try doing that
Watched it with my Nan as a kid. Always makes me warm and fuzzy xxx
That song keeos running through my head quite oftren
Fabulous film! I watch it every year!
one of my mum and dads favourite songs :)
Well this brought a tear of nostalgia.
There's a trivial pursuit question about this song. That's the reason why I'm here.
Glocca Maura is on the way to Tipperary from Cork , there wa an Inn there called the Gloccamaura Inn and we would sing passing it in the car on the way to visit Grandparents in Clonmel, long time ago..
Fred Astaire Showing Off Dance Moves At His Advanced Age.
Chuck and Bill are right there in Glocca Morra. Tentega
Always think of my beautiful mam with this song
The Mantovani Orchestra instrumental version is so soothing and relaxing. My favorite version ever.
EXCELLENT 💚FABOULOUS 💚AWESOME 💚🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
My favorito scene
Classic. Get a grip john. You must have had no childhood. Never to late kid enjoy the innocence.
. . . because it's a great song.
1:58 Some of those comments you people put in are pure GOLD !, seriously.
So I have learned that ( later on, Sir Thomas Hicks born in 1936) had been the first British Pop Star after the War as Tommy Steele - here also credited under the name.
But because of a haevy stage accident among the to hysterical fans Steele turned to more serious Stage Work and Musicals that is why he got the role here as the Leprechaun hunting after Finian and his daughter for his pot of Gold
Fun Fact: In the War Hicks had been a Navy Officer in the Trade Navy.Se the man was much miore as just some Singer as some Newspapers once had called him.
And then the VW-Käfer in the final scene, learned this also from your comments. Never really had sawn it but reasonable back in the late Sixties and early Seventies the VW Company had done a big advertisement push in the English spieaking Nations to sell it´s cars, like with sponsering the Disney movies about HERBIE - THE LOVE BUG.

I often wonder if the people on Glocca Morra ever ask how things are here? ;)
Fui as lágrimas com esta cena
GREAT SONG, love the Musical (except one Scene in the movie)
Well don't leave us in suspense then R Toni.
Tell us please which is the part that you do not like?
OH!!!!
And why? Prey tell.
Yes I had the same take on it too, thats why I like that scene and song aswell
I wish Ireland was that colourful . Grey is the usual colour. 😊
+RBxDigital In the Spring or early Summer, when the sun shines on the green grassy hills and fields where I live, it truly is like Glocca Morra.
Sure "rain?" that's why Ireland is so green !! It took an American singer "Johnny Cash"
Colour blind?
I'm Irish never heard this song of seen the movie
Adore this Thanks a million for upload x
😘💕💕💕💕💕💕Pétula
PERFECT
love this! THANKS!
The actor who played Woody is Cree Summer's dad.
Don Francks.
My mom use to sing this song when i was a kid. thought she was a star
Ill second that, when I was 11, I fell desperately in love with Og, the leprechaun. Like I was totally going to marry him. No shit.
But I was obsessive and watched every part with Tommy Steele over and over. I still follow whats happened to him and stuff. The 11 year old stalker in me never really went away.........
*shrugs*
I'M A DAMN GOOD IRISH WOMAN🍀☘🍀☘
Keep the faith.
Was my pleasure
Well his farewell to dancing in films at least. He was in Ghost Story after this.
Do the people who live in Glocca Morra ever ask how things are with US?
Horrible! 😅🤣😂
You are right. He did continue to appear in dramatic roles in films/television. Apologies for my mistake.
Lorraine
Thomas como faço para conseguir este filme pois muito me emociona
such a good movie, sad that they sent the old man off to die alone.
You should hear the original Broadway cast member sing this.
How are things...... = Jak pak je dnes u nas doma
The person(s) who wrote this song knew bugger all about Irish geography. Get a map and look at the places where that little stream is supposed to pass through!
Can you believe Capolla directed this film?Go getum Gip Harberg[writer of songs]He must be wedged between Judy ala` the'Wizard'and Fred, here rather spry over the Rainbow.
the man who made Apocalypse Now made this 😶
