My mom and dad went to the cinema to see this movie twelve when mama was in the ninth month of pregnancy. When they were on it for the thirteenth time, so that mama did not manage to hospital and I was born in the cinema. It's true, I swear. This music was always special for me. &;)
So wonderful to see Fred Astaire dancing so joyfully and Petula Clarke being partnered with such Grace and elegance. Fred’ l’engendras eye for tailoring is in view . Those trousers, the slimmest ever seen on Astaire, fit so perfectly and make the line look right no matter what he does. My one complaint is With Francis Ford Coppola , who refused to do full body shots, insisting on closer shots to see faces. When Astaire is dancing we want to see the whole body line and we want to see feet. Fred knows everything there is to know about filming dance, but Coppola, in his youthful arrogance , refused to listen. I am sure he thought better of it as he grew older, and maybe regretted the missed chance to film Fred’s last great dances in film.
I have listened to this song many times since my beloved Dad died last year. This was his favourite musical and I will always look to the rainbow and follow the fellow. Love and miss you so much Dad xxxxx
Just wonderful. I have the original LP I can listen to anytime. You're right, the color is astounding. When all the greats in Hollywood musicals left us, they just don't make pictures like this anymore.
Wow.......... Cree this is so precious!!!!!!!! Seeing it makes me realize how much I miss good ole musicals of my youth. Seeing Your Mom and Dad just brings a smile to my face. Don is such a good and talented man. Thank you so much for sharing.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVIORTE MUSICALS FOR TWO REASONS1. I LOVE THE SONGS. 2. I LOVE HOW THE SHOW FOCOUSIS ON FAITH AND IN THE BELIF THAT THINGS CAN GET BETTER
This was the last of the "great" Hollywood musicals- the studio was torn down afterwards. Some young guy kept hanging around Francis- what was his name-GEORGE LUCAS
I have very vague emory of this movie, because I was 4 when my parents took me and my little sister to see this at the RKO Keith in Flushing. I really should watchbthe whole movie sometime.
Astaire is terrific and who doesn't love Petula Clark?
How great is this song? And Petula and Fred are just so good. And they can do that Irish dancing.
These beautiful, melodic songs brings tears to my eyes. I just love Petula Clark and the iconic Fred Astaire! 🥰👍🌈
This is one of my favorite movies! Great music, and it's so wonderful to see Fred Astaire still kicking up his heels!😄

My mother sang this to me as a tiny kid in about 1971 or 1972. Petula is a great singer.

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2017.
Nice.
There's something wrong with a film of Fred Astaire dancing that cuts off his feet.
"how long ago was that"
Nit intended for profit. You have ads on the video
Where was that filmed?
So Petula was his last dance partner. I would have said Barrie Chase.
