Interesting rendition. I like it. I won't say it's better than the original. I have heard Plant say many times he doesn't want to become a traveling jukebox.
I love this different version of “Black Dog” with Robert Plant’s band. It’s got a different groove that gives a breath of freshness to an old classic, while maintaining the integrity of the licks that Page invented. I’m nearing 70 years old, but I never tire of good music.
@Jonathan Birch Many rock bands are blues bands. LZ was formed when blues singer Robert Plant hooked up with Jimmy Page. Rolling Stones is also a blues band, so is Guns and Roses. Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix was all blues. Came from a love of Sun House and Delta Blues. If you ask those guys who their idols are they'd all come back with Howlin' Wolf and BB King.
He's been doing different styles of music for many many years and this band is beyond incredible. You want an exact note for note replica of Zep songs from 40+ years ago you can always go see a cover band. At least he's original!
I'm 52 years old and grew up listening to LZ IV starting on my older brother's 8-track player. LZ IV is one of my favorite albums. I have to say that I really love this version of Black Dog. It's not better than the original but nostalgia plays a big part in my musical taste. I will say that I love how Robert is continually reinventing himself! Rock On Mr. Plant - I will be listening!
It took me half way through the song to realize I like this edition, it´s somehow grittier, dirtier, more rough, those stops on the main riff. I don´t like it more than the original, but I really do like it. And Robert Plant now still sounds like Robert Plant then, and at that time almost 70 year of age... bloody brilliant. Maybe that´s the way Plant wanted the song to be in the beginning... or maybe the artists way of looking at things later on... who knows. It´s still awesome.
I remind of Plant once sayng something like he doesn't feel like reunite Led Zeppelin again because it is a thing from the past, and it is finished. I love Led, but I completely understand him and this interest of creating new music. Very interesting song here!
What sentiment can I express, only love and gratitude for this wonderful talented expressive man. I love Robert Plant. I Love Led Zeppelin, each and every member!
This is why I love jam bands so much: They never play the studio version of their songs on tour. Led Zeppelin definitely was a jam band through their entire run.
Exactly. I've seen Robert sing black dog high pitched, talk blues style... etc. It's almost punk rock the way he'll just spit and twist his old lyrics, dancing around the North African and Appalachian rhythms he utilizes.
One of the beautiful things is listening to Moroccan music being played by the most famous and largest international bands, with melodies emanating from the most exquisite golden voices like Mr. Robert Plant
Can I just say how thankful we can be that these legends of rock are still with us and perform their music/magic so well with such imagination and modern approach?! The current pop acts still have a LOT to learn.
Always pursuing a different approach to something that we all know - and making it better or elevating to a new dynamic. Robert Plant knows he's not young anymore. He gives it a different dynamic. The band is amazing, and the man himself is truly iconic. All that's left - is the purity of the music and the sound. It's how it touches your soul, thats what matters. Not his age. It's the soul that he brings to the life of the music and what it does to you spiritually as well as emotionally. Feel it's power over you as it wraps itself around you and your no longer in your body, but in the world of the music as you drift off silently into the world that Robert Plant paints for you. The music stops, if only it could keep going. There's always replay....
His delivery is this talk rock sort of thing that I think is really cool, because we all know he can actually sing the original melody but Plant just constantly pokes and fucks with his songs, it's fantastic.
3:36 Thats Downtown Freddy Jenkins! They discovered him a mere 1 hour before the show outside of a bowling alley doing this same act for liquor $. Talk about a lucky chance encounter!
I've never been a Zep fan, but that having been said I am really impressed at Robert's voice on this as I expected it to sound like Axl Rose at this point. He did an amazing job changing this song up. Well done Mr. Plant.
First time I ever heard Led Zeppelin, this tune came drifting in on the radio and I was forever hooked. Of course, the original version, which is better. But this is cool.
I've seen him comment before qbout how theres aone zeppelin songs he just cant recreate with where his voice is now. On this one he does such a great job of capturing the spirit of the song while working within his limits and adding a new flare to it. So cool.
What's with all the hate? Jealouse? If I could do what plant does at his age I would dam well do it.. Big hooyaaa... I think he rocked city limits with his performance and it's not a tribute band playing his stuff.... Just my opinion....
This is undoubtedly one of the best remixes of any Rick songs better. What an incredible arrangement . If the original version wasn't genius enough. Wow!!
Saw RP in Bezerkeley a few yrs back He shocked the crowd by doing new reworked versions of Zep tunes (just like Zep would have done) Ovr time but when he needed to remind u who he was/is he let it rip in true Rock God fashion! Case in point… on Babe I’m gonna leave u he let out a scream that blew people outta their seats because no one knew he still had that Never doubt the mighty Zep!!!
this is rad! and for the haters of the new arrangement, i recommend youtube searching for led zeppelin videos, as this is not what you're looking for if that's all you're open to :)
It sounds good. I was kinda set back a little though when right when it started and found out it they had changed it up. But after a while, it transitioned into another song altogether. IDK if I would call this Black Dog. Its something else.
The haters need to be reminded that this is Robert Plant, and according to divine decree he can do "whatever the fuck he wants".
Manning Bartlett lol Absofuckinglutely!
oooohhhhhhh yeaaa!..i agree
Manning Bartlett legend!
Manning Bartlett: divine decree? does that mean delusional fanatics? this guy cannot sing anymore.
Hey, can we hear you belt out a few?
Don't like him, don't listen.
He owns it, he can do whatever he wants with it, I like it
amazing how people are so stuck in their past and their heads.
this was a great arrangement, and plant still has a great voice.
Indeed... very cool version. Plant is always exploring new musical horizons. The "interlude" section and outro on this are awesome.
seriously! this kicked ass
i was thinking the same
manu moka he's still got it!
TruthFoot: you are right, but people don't want to hear the truth. plant has been washed up, finished for decades.
Interesting rendition. I like it. I won't say it's better than the original. I have heard Plant say many times he doesn't want to become a traveling jukebox.
But he could have been a Traveling Willbury's
This is something Axl should’ve done in his comeback instead of trying (and failing) to sound like his old self. Sadly, he’s now…a traveling jukebox.
I love this different version of “Black Dog” with Robert Plant’s band. It’s got a different groove that gives a breath of freshness to an old classic, while maintaining the integrity of the licks that Page invented. I’m nearing 70 years old, but I never tire of good music.
For anyone who's been to a Zeppelin concert, they all riff on their own stuff. Never the same twice. That's the blues, baby.
@Jonathan Birch "true spirit" yeah i've heard enough, go finish your whiskey and stop watching LZ videos that you obviously hate.
For his age he still sings amazing.
What do you mean for his age? He's terrific for any age.
Old lion can still roar.
Robert amazing ! 💜😃✌🎼🎵🎶❤
He's been doing different styles of music for many many years and this band is beyond incredible. You want an exact note for note replica of Zep songs from 40+ years ago you can always go see a cover band. At least he's original!
Love this rendition. Refreshing and still tough as shit.
Wow....REAL musicians!!!!!
Christina Gina top notch
Yes Indeed
Robert Plant is one of those rare muso's the just loves music singing and performing.
Plant still got that kick ass voice after all these years! Love it
My favourite band sampling Amazigh music from my country Morocco ... what a time to be alive !
As a true Zepp fan.
Absolutely Brilliant by Plant.
Now on to JPJ and his twist on Zepp songs

Proximo011- I wholeheartedly agree.
There's still a huge demand for Zep tunes, This was a great show!
This is an amazing cover. Robert has shown that he has plenty to offer when it comes to doing something neat with even his own songs.
Robert Plant is still best rocker ever!! Love his music!!!
His voice is still incredible regardless of the instrumental arrangement.
I love what Robert been doing wuth his arrangements , so refreshing and worldly. Great band here.
Robert Plant is the fuckin' man. He's earned the right to do whatever he wants musically. Long live Plantie!
He's an amazing man -- and that's an amazing band! This concert made me fly all the way to NYC to see him in 2018! :)
Total class, all the way.
Loved it.
This is so cool! I''m glad Robert is able to recreate his music in interesting ways.
If I ever get the chance to meet him I am gonna cry my eyes out.
Damn, he still got it🔥🔥
This is why I love jam bands so much: They never play the studio version of their songs on tour. Led Zeppelin definitely was a jam band through their entire run.

This is what talent, wisdom, experience and self knowledge look like in a legitimate artist. Maybe the best of the surviving giants.
Pretty cool unique take on a classic.
3:30-on best part :-)
Dont get too much nostalgic people, learn to accept the change.Listen to the original record only if u dont like.
One of the beautiful things is listening to Moroccan music being played by the most famous and largest international bands, with melodies emanating from the most exquisite golden voices like Mr. Robert Plant
The Golden God always keeps reinventing himself, this is awesome! Plant rules!!
Can I just say how thankful we can be that these legends of rock are still with us and perform their music/magic so well with such imagination and modern approach?! The current pop acts still have a LOT to learn.
This is amazing, Robert u are God, thank you for all!
Young Punks got nuthin' on this Golden God.
Love this....you haters need to understand the rock God you are dealing with..Plant

How accurately and correctly you expressed it at the end. I feel it too. Robert is a genius in general. I love him very much.
Still one of the greatest singers ever.... sounds amazing.. he acts so cute.. LOVE him......
3:36 Thats Downtown Freddy Jenkins! They discovered him a mere 1 hour before the show outside of a bowling alley doing this same act for liquor $. Talk about a lucky chance encounter!
Wow. He still around? What bowling alley?
thats Juldeh Camara playing the riti, an african fiddle. Hes played often with Justin Adams, Plant's frequent guitarist
Incredible performance! Epic re-master of an old classic.
He's still got it all.
We all need a '52 gold top.
except that trapeze bridge is impossible to keep in tune
sounded pretty intune to me
look how awkwardly he's playing it though...i'd change the bridge regardless of what it did to the value
***** wasnt even awkward hahaha should have gone to specsavers
Think I'll take a can of gold spray paint to my purple paul =====U****
what a fuckin composition, only singer from the 60s that's still rockin
UnBridled Creativity
We Should be Sooo Lucky to Experience.
Robert's Co-Creative with Ms Kraus = 2 Pure Musical Geniuses
I've never been a Zep fan, but that having been said I am really impressed at Robert's voice on this as I expected it to sound like Axl Rose at this point. He did an amazing job changing this song up. Well done Mr. Plant.
Proof positive that he is ever evolving! This fucking rocks!
UNIQUE AND INCOMPARABLE!
The arrangements of the other instruments added to the song is just truly wonderful .
to all you vocal experts ahhh hes doing good to still be alive,,an they had to alter the song structure to suit his 68 year old abilities ,,
Dio could still sing into his 60's much better than this.
Robert is honest. He does not pretend to be what he was (like many others), he just sings according to his age and it does it really good
Are comparing Dio to Plant?
I tried to sing karaoke according to Robert's 70-year old abilities. And I still sounded terrible. lol
The IMMORTAL Robert Plant. We love you!!!!!
First time I ever heard Led Zeppelin, this tune came drifting in on the radio and I was forever hooked. Of course, the original version, which is better. But this is cool.
his vocals are what turned me on to zeppelin , aquired "phys graf" in 81 and never looked back
Who said you can't teach an old (black) dog a new groove? Great stuff!
A fantastic re do. Not afraid to grow old now. much Respect...
I've seen him comment before qbout how theres aone zeppelin songs he just cant recreate with where his voice is now. On this one he does such a great job of capturing the spirit of the song while working within his limits and adding a new flare to it. So cool.
was on his concert summer 2016.
he still have beautifull voice and unique tone.
Wow. Plant still being creative in his later years. He doesn't just phone in the same performance every time you see him.
He's still got it.
Mr Robert Plant, AMAZING as has always been . 🤩
That was Fuckin' great. WOW!!! Plant, as alway's, continues to evolve. Thank you for this!
If this were the original release, it would have gone unnoticed and forgotten like The Ozymandias Empire in the sand.
WOW THIS IS FUN AF!! GREAT PERFORMANCE! GREAT MUSICIANS!!
What's with all the hate? Jealouse? If I could do what plant does at his age I would dam well do it.. Big hooyaaa... I think he rocked city limits with his performance and it's not a tribute band playing his stuff.... Just my opinion....
Ed Underwood- Your opinion is popular among most Zep/Plant fans and I happen to share that opinion as well.
I think Robert plant and Ozzy Osborn are immortal. They will be doing this shit when my grandkids die! I'm 29!
Pretty cool rendition, fun to watch!
Thank you so much for sharing these R P uploads!
This is undoubtedly one of the best remixes of any Rick songs better. What an incredible arrangement . If the original version wasn't genius enough. Wow!!
Zep is blues rocking or stripped back . It's all just as awesome.
I skipped from 3:00 to 3:40 and was left utterly impressed and confused by the African Dream Theater Rush cover of my favorite Led Zeppelin song.
Pascal Faurie I'm fuckin dying
different....will need to hear this a few times and see if it grows on me, since over the years I have always enjoyed the other version.
Yo estuve presente, amazing el mejor vocal del rock!!!
If you don't like this new arrangement, then Thrs lots of 70s version by them...so, show respect for the finest here
so good
Nice .... thanks for sharing!
This is greatness.
Robert wrote it, he can sing it any damn way he wants to.
Interesting arrangement! Works around his limitations well.
His band is called the Shape Shifters, they sound awesome.
Saw RP in Bezerkeley a few yrs back
He shocked the crowd by doing new reworked versions of Zep tunes (just like Zep would have done) Ovr time but when he needed to remind u who he was/is he let it rip in true Rock God fashion!

Never doubt the mighty Zep!!!
Amazing voice !!! !!! !!!
Who's the black dude with the violin thing? I want to hear more of him!
Thats Downtown Freddie Jenkins...he was discovered outside a bowling alley merely an hour before this gig doing this act for liquor money! Great guy.
@David Thomas I know I'm about a year late but thanks very much!
Now he's just showing off, wild!
ROBERT PLANT FOREVER! LONG LIVE ROBERT PLANT!
Bizarre !! Love Plant no matter how he sings it
Great band
From an old hippie.... thumbs up to old hippie's
Красавчик!
Плант старый даст фору всем молодым бездарям ,которые пытаются с ТВ или с радио нам преподнести фонеру,как хороший продукт.
Моё мнение.
this is rad! and for the haters of the new arrangement, i recommend youtube searching for led zeppelin videos, as this is not what you're looking for if that's all you're open to :)
Robert still sounds sooooo good. YUM!!! :D
Interesting arrangement be my guest why after all you are robert plant..awsome
Deeper than a rockstar
Holy fuck, that was amazing.
Black Dog con una vuelta de tuerca más .. Robert Dios Plant. ♥
It sounds good. I was kinda set back a little though when right when it started and found out it they had changed it up. But after a while, it transitioned into another song altogether. IDK if I would call this Black Dog. Its something else.
Very unusual and excellent take
GReat Spin Mr PLaNT! You Do HAppen To ReaLLy Rock
