    A doctor ruined my relationship with my parents and severed my trust in them medically after convincing them I "made up" my symptoms and purposely lied, despite having labwork (and the symptoms to back it up) absolutely proving I had mono. They think I chose to go on homebound schooling, for literally no reason. No "clout". Nothing. They think I just wanted to lay in bed all day and do nothing. I was a straight A student who overachieved and only had to do English class that year to graduate so they put me on homebound schooling but then accused me of faking the whole thing. I will never ever forgive that medical practice, the doctor, the police involved when I ran away after being kicked out, or my parents. :/

    I think the worst as far as being a caregiver and running into it, is somebody with the condition that also has a real medical condition. Because then you have to keep them in the hospital but they will linger and exaggerate and consume so much of your time, it can be maddening. And they sabotage attempts to make the actual condition better. So in addition to causing symptoms or contaminating samples, you have those that skip their antibiotics or other vital meds (cardiac, metabolic, ECT). Think of it like somebody with munchausen's that also develops real diabetes skimping on their insulin in hopes of causing a problem that will land them in the hospital.

    This is fascinating! As a biochemist who works with rare mtDNA disorders it’s interesting to see the other side of that coin. Thank you for keeping me entertained while working :)

    Question: is there a difference between this syndrome and hypochondria?

    • @TheMentalBreakdown
      @TheMentalBreakdown  3 роки тому +9

      Great question! Yes, there is a difference. With Hypochondriasis, the individual truly believes that they have the medical condition, whereas with a fictitious disorder, the person knows that they are intentionally making it up or causing the symptoms. Thanks for watching!

      I think a difference might also be that a person with hypochondria is scared of having that illness, while a person with Munchausen wants to have that illness.

    I am perplexed in the logic in which the exiting comment to “stay happy and health” implementing that the realty of such is already integrated and experienced, yet the accuracy of factual measurement is not known, in which puts a level of questioning the rationale and focus upon in why the person or audience would currently be happy and healthy or the need to state or create this manifestation thru this future creation technique. I suppose we can save the positive thought process and behavioral reform related to positive association for another day after the reason why the munchausen by proxy syndrome is implemented by others. To test if this is going on, simply remove the victim from the person or people doing this and evaluate is their behavior changes and they suddenly appear as no longer sick or with the “issues”…

    Assuming that someone is faking because they have a broad vocabulary or googled something is evil. A doctor ruined my relationship with my family and put off a diagnosis for years (that I still don’t have), prevented me from possible treatment because I wanted to know what was wrong with me. Before you claim I am a hypochondriac, I’ve seized so hard that I burst all the blood vessels in my face.

      Right, God forbid you do your own research

    the uncomfortable idea is that it could also be playing into the increase of gender dysphoria.

    • @joeclaridy
      @joeclaridy Рік тому +1

      Not uncomfortable it's serious. Socially there is a push to make trans socially acceptable. The issue is that community only tell you the good while censoring the bad. It is sad but many children are taking advantage of and told they're trans when they're suffering from gender-disphoria. Children who have this disphoria out grows it when go through puberty and adolescence.

      Nope. Not even close. You're just pushing your agenda. Bad faith argument alert! Cisgender people do not question their gender.

    I sooooo wonder.....i was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer after I visited 6 ob/gyn who I told I thought i had it (based off internet - and no history in family in their defense) at 19yrs old. I wonder if they thought i was faking or over concerned? I know they hated me bringing print outs in (2003) but sure enough, I was right!
