Oh man did I need to hear this this week. I am in a totally similar situation with my planners! Whatever decision you make, it is so comforting to talk through this because it really helped me put my own feelings in order. You are a joy.
I have always struggled with even getting close to planner peace...UNTIL I watched your previous plan as u go month and saw how to use 2 planners in tandem each separate but complimentary! I thank u for that! SELFISHLY I want to see another month of the same...2 working hand in hand, however trying something new may help someone else that is still searching for peace! I will watch regardless!😉
Stash it and try once the year is up! You’re able to plan waaaaay ahead, and might decide for sure whether you want to do it or not. You’re totally justified in being concerned, and being anxious about New Things being in the public eye, especially if it could burn you out if you try to stick to it when you don’t like it. I’m a completionist too; achieve your goals. You can try things whenever, as long as you’re just having a good time and it’s working for you.
I love your honesty about it all, it is refreshing to see someone who is struggling to find a balance with it all. I understand your trepidation about using something new and not knowing how it will be, especially with being on camera for it. :-)
I missed the Bullet Planner flip through but went to go watch it before commenting. I think that you would find it confining to switch and try to use just that. I feel confined and I have barely started my bullet journal journey. I could see using it as a place to write and journal every night about the day but I don't think I would use it as a planner or a bullet journal right now. Just not enough places to do something different than the norm. I love watching your videos because you are real about how everything doesn't go all perfect each day. Thanks!!
Hi Cindy, I will give you your own advice and say that if you're thinking of using the bullet planner because YOU are curious about it, then you should! But if you're considering it because you think other people will like it or because you see other people using it, maybe you should reconsider. My favorite part about your videos is how genuine you are and I wouldn't want you to cave into peer pressure. With that being said, I would enjoy seeing a "Cindy-fied" version of a bullet planner. :)
Yo Cindy, you rock. We appreciate your honesty. Please , please. Please do what you are most comfortable with. We will watch your videos whatever desicion you make. No pressure chick.
I see what you're doing, Cindy! Building tension to Game of Thrones levels and amping up the planner struggle and keeping us all in suspense so we'll be hooked for your PAIG month! I see you and I approve! :D (In case someone takes this seriously: don't. I'm joking!)
But to answer your question: I've been facing a similar dilemma lately. I have a system that works for me... but the restless bitch in me wants to try out other stuff. I had to have a serious talk with myself (what? That's a thing. It doesn't make me crazy... right?)... anyway, I had to ask myself why I wanted to try out these new things. Did I want to improve on my system or was this just me trying something new for the newness of it? Also, why do you use a planner in the first place? That's also important to take into account when deciding what to do next, planner-wise. I realized that I'm using a planner to keep myself accountable and keep my work shit in order because I work for myself and from home, but I almost don't touch it during the weekend. So, if I go on vacation I might not need as much structure. It might be the right time to try out bujo or just a week on a page + notes pages again. But for right now, I'm not touching my system because it helps me get shit done!
Hi Cindy! I know when I’m getting the itch to switch up my planning, it’s best just to go with it otherwise I just obsess over it. What about committing to trying the bullet planner for a week then if you don’t like it, you can go right back to the regular system? Then since you still want to complete a full year in your EC, you’ve only lost a week in your EC. You could always back plan too at the end of the month if you decide to use the bullet planner for a full month. I constantly struggle with a planner/bullet journal system I think because I really just want to deal with 1 book. Whatever you decide to do, I can’t wait to see where you go with it!
I totally understand your trepidation in trying something new on camera. However, it's so easy to find YT videos on EC content and it would be awesome to see a new planner put to use and also to see your thought process or the struggles of that new planner. Plus, you may find that it totally rocks and it's the answer to all your planning prayers. :) But, again, completely understand the reasons for not wanting to try it.
I don't think you should start until you find a planner that you truely love and can stand to use for the whole year. There are so many planners out there that I'm pretty sure you'll find one that you will love to use. I for one have been using the Ink and Volt planner since the beginning of the year. They have an undated version of the one I've been using so you can start whenever you want. I really like it because the paper is a nice quality and each month I can check in to see if I've been keeping up with and meeting my goals.
I totally get the completion thing. I use an A5 ringbound. Maybe dot grid ringbound is something you can try so you can put all the pages in one binder at the end of the year? Then they are all in one book.
So i think there is something to be said for sticking with the same planner for an entire year. I have yet to make it, but it’s my goal for my EC hourly as well. That being said I’m about to have a major lifestyle change (having a baby/going on Mat leave and I mostly use my bujo for work) so I’m mixing that bit up for April. Basically do you but there is nothing wrong with wanting to just stick with something as a reason!
While it's always fun seeing you try something new, I think the completionist in me would also be really stressed out if you switched. To me it's the more reasonable concern of the two because you always find a way to make excellent videos. I'd say stick with what makes you happy at the moment and save the other journal for later or brainstorm other uses for it this year. There has to be a few things you only refer to occasionally that could be more organized in a single journal than mixed with weeklies and monthlies. For me those things would be goals, finances, or even household projects that span several months. Just some thoughts. I'm sure I'll love whatever you choose to do. :)
Ok I have looked at the Bullet planner and I have a thought... I think you can use it as you're planner/Bullet journal. The only thing I see though is you would have to do Tip ins monthly for your challenges. (like you have your key) Being as your yellow band is loose it would be able to handle the tip ins...I think you should try the bullet planner for April, add the tip ins for the challenges and see how it works for you. You can always go back to your old setup in May or actually anytime you want...I'm excited to see what you choose.
Hahaha, when Stark (my dog) was younger he would be startled by his own farts... we would say he fartled himself. With that being said. I love your videos.
i don't understand when you say you are not satisfied with your habits tracker, when all i see is that you are doing so well, more consistently achieving than not. 😆
Take a beat before you react... maybe do both. Yes I know what I’m suggesting but you don’t have to do both on camera and you can mix it up however you want. This would give you a real-time comparison. And you don’t skip a month in your EC (a totally legit reason to struggle with!). There are no rules, only Cindy rules, which I wholeheartedly endorse!
The cat fart I about died. Is there anyway for you to still keep your system up to date even if not on camera, but try out the new one. If your itching to try it then it's always best to do so but, give yourself a plan B. Love you Cindy!
Maybe this will work as some kind of weird reverse psychology, but if you're already ambivalent about the bullet planner, I'm not sure trying it for a whole month (especially for the first time in front of the camera) would be the best idea. It would just cause some added stress that you don't really need in your planner, especially when you've already committed to filming your process every single day for a month. By all means, try it, but maybe when there's not as much "pressure" as there is when you're showing us EVERYTHING every single day. If that makes sense. That being said, if you feel stuck in a rut with your EC or your bullet journal, maybe switching it up will be exactly what you need. Either way, thanks for being so open and honest about your planning process, I'm currently in a bit of a rut with my bullet journal so I definitely get the desire to switch things up a bit. Thanks for being so real!
I used my bullet planner in March and this week I went back to my EC and bullet journal system this past week. I found it it kinda hard to be able to film videos using the bullet planner and to be honest I missed my old system. I did discover though that I liked the paper in the stm over my leuchturrm so I ordered a a5 stm.
i was using my lettering book to practice your layout...i think you have a smooth feel with the way you've been doing it, and given the acceleration in activities, perhaps maintaining this aspect would be good for now...when/if your health or work eases up, trying a new organizing principle would be fun...now it feels like it would be either a distraction or a burden.
Cindy I say fuck and try the bullet planner and if after a couple of weeks you don't like it then go back to the EC and bujo. Because that is real life, we like planners and we like to try new things. If they don't work we go back to what we know. Thanks for cheering up my day and I love the "u made me ink" I laughed so hard my kids looked at me weird.
I'm such a completion-ist. I get those second-hand horrified vibes just hearing the prospect. But at the same time, I also promote the "use your stash" viewpoint. How will you ever get to use the bullet planner if you don't set aside the need for completion with another system?
Don't discount the completionest (sp?) feelings. They are totally legitimate. Honestly I'd love to see you use the bullet planner just because it would be fun for me but you are closer to the end of the school year than you are the beginning so I wouldn't blame you for waiting a few months to finish out your EC and start a new with the BP. You'll just have to do yet another PAYG month then. XD
yes, I think you are over thinking. i think it's great to try new things such as the stm bujo planner, but I wouldn't use the payg to try it, because it's such a long commitment on something that you may end of hating. not a fun way or even an effective way to spend month on one thing that may or may not work. on the other hand, i remember you mentioned some other time that you were thinking of using just a bujo, without the ec, and that's an important comment to consider for your payg. in the end, I have an idea for your consideration. when deciding about what to do for payg, what if you use your inner joy to guide you, instead of your brain? taking a few seconds in silence and quiet mund, which of these options bring a smile to your face for payg? if you quiet the mind, you will hear your inner joy speak, and when you do things out of inner joy, people will naturally follow.
The real question is a) Do what I’ve always done and always get what I’ve always gotten or B) Brave the wilderness of a new planner Get that coin out......toss it...Heads is A, Tails is B It’s only for April, or is it?
Not sure if you've reached a decision yet but I'd start with the new planner. If you really hate it, switch back to the EC. The whole point of your plan with with me month is to show how you would normally do things right? Changing around how you do things is part of that so don't worry too much about doing something on or off camera. Just try it. The world will not end if you change things mid-month.
I think you should just try out the bullet planner. If you already have it and you want to try it you should. Worst outcome is you don't like it and go back to your current system, so why not??
Hi Cindy, I was wondering if you’re still approving people for your Facebook group. I have had a pending request for a little while, and just didn’t know if there was something else I needed to do in order to be accepted. I love your videos, and recently have been watching them while doing my Chemistry homework...anything to make the bullshit less suck full!!
I don't think you should change up what you do at this time. Maybe for January 2019 but it would totally mess me up to change midstream. I would most likely become cranky. Like wearing two different shoes and not realizing it until I was at church... Feel good about what you do. Don't let flashy new planners mess with you and make you doubt your process :) Just my two cents.
Lol... love your vidoes.. but you might need a bullet journal for planning your bullet journal... I'd go out of my mind if I had to keep a journal like this... geesh... too much shit to on those lists... OMG!
I really appreciate how real you always are
Oh man did I need to hear this this week. I am in a totally similar situation with my planners! Whatever decision you make, it is so comforting to talk through this because it really helped me put my own feelings in order. You are a joy.

You draw so WELL! I love it. I wish I could too. But I can't so I'll just enjoy watching you do it.

I LOVE your commentary. I just discovered your channel and I love it. You’re an awesome artist and so much fun to watch. Keep it up.
I'm finally amking onto yoir videos...its been be weeks since I've been here due to work and vacation with no internet...ugh. Yay! Glad to be back!
the cat fart and "you made me innnk" had me in tears 😂😂

FUCK YES CINDY, ANOTHER PAYG MONTH 😍😍 !!!! I'm so excited!
PS - like if you're videos are 30+, DO NOT STRESS, we livvvvvee for your long ass videos! 😁

LOVE these colors!

Is there a word for that like there is for sharted? Like fartled? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤭💨
I use post it notes in my bujo too lol
The “completion” factor would have staying in my normal 2 until the academic year ends.
I think your concerns are warranted. However (this is just me being selfish) I love all of your videos so I vote do it and let us enjoy. :)
I'm such a completion-ist. I get those second-hand horrified vibes just hearing the prospect. But at the same time, I also promote the "use your stash" viewpoint. How will you ever get to use the bullet planner if you don't set aside the need for completion with another system?

What are some other tools that you could use to cut the washi tape in a similar way to you? That are alternatives to the palette knife.
Awesomeness thank you lovely 💜 💗
Your nail color is pretty

You could always go back and memory plan in your EC?
Where do you get your challenges from? Do you make them up yourself each month or are they from a site?
What is that pen you are using?
The real question is a) Do what I’ve always done and always get what I’ve always gotten or B) Brave the wilderness of a new planner

What do you do when you are talking about “church”?
Hi Cindy, I was wondering if you’re still approving people for your Facebook group.
