    Solo Tent Camping in Heavy Rain Storm with Rain Sounds. First time using a Tarp. Backpacking the North. This is a video from a backpacking trip in the North that received some heavy rain in camp by a lake. I spend my time cooking and enjoying the sound of the rain on my new tarp. This video contains elements of ASMR, although there is a few lines of spoken words as well.

    A very beautiful area, quiet & peaceful look how clean that water looks. That view from your tent is dee lightful, ah but that sounded like a giant mossie. Even in the rain it looks good your camp site, how I would lay there positioned so as to watch the two birds on the water, local natives maybe? Float off to sleep quite easily, Living the life

    What a fabulous hike. That lake water is so amazingly clear. And the sound of the rain....I think it's one of my favorite sounds. It's probably a good thing I live in Oregon. It rains a lot here! Congrats on getting a sponsorship! I'm so glad your channel is getting the recognition it deserves. Well done. Thanks for taking us along, Jarl. Just a beautiful experience. :) ♥

    Nice to be just out there not worrying about miles. Tarp is an interesting addition. Last year I got stuck in my one man tent during two long storms and it sure would have been nice to have the extra cover. I wonder how pitching with trekking poles front and back with sides staked out would work. You could set the back pole close to the tent to provide more shelter in front. No ridgeline needed.

    • @NorwegianXplorer
      @NorwegianXplorer  2 роки тому

      The tarp is exactly for that, having a better time in rain:-) it is quite winderful to spend time in rain when you can have a comfortable outdoor space. I dont use hiking poles, but the sure would make pitching the tarp easier

    Wise use of a tarp. It always must be longer and wider to stop rain from touching your tent. Incredibly stunning location next to the lake. The sound of rain falling on your tarp is very relaxing. I wish ai was there with you sharing a meal and a good conversation. Please make more videos. God bless.

    Wonderful hike. A lot of people think rain ruins a trip, but it's OK, as long as you have the gear for it. Speaking of Gear, what is that blue hat you wear? It looks very thin, which is just perfect for many circumstances, particularly early mornings and evenings after eating. That appears to be a STOUT cup of coffee. YUM!

    How well do you find the Thermacell works? I have the same one and I find it works very well, especially for mosquitos. I was worried about the gas consumption of it before I bought it but found out during use that it uses so little that I don't even notice it.

    I encourage the use of tarps, as long as they are light weight and durable. I live this way, as you venture out in nature - it is how I live daily. Travel here n there, by train or bus, find a trail and off I go...
    Used a tarp to collect rain water, let it rain a bit prior to clean the tarp...then used a KUMA collapsible bowl, then filtered from there into a water bottle... I see you are close to a water source, and you probably don't have to filter that water, but here in America....filter your water - unfortunate and sad, but necessary.
    New tent...Marmot vs Hilleberg? And you don't use a footprint... I purchased a TarpTents, it's ultra light but I'm not confident in it's quality, time will tell. I couldn't get a Durston x-mid, which appears to be built in a manner that they didn't sacrifice quality for weight ..
    It's not so difficult to camp in perfect weather, the test comes in the storm...
    As always I enjoy your ventures, quality of video and your content. Norway should sponsor you - you're great for tourism 😄 glad to see you have a paid sponsor....safe travels Jarl, check out the Great Divide in Canada when you have time.
    Blessings

    • @NorwegianXplorer
      @NorwegianXplorer  2 роки тому +1

      I would love to check out the Great divide, never been to Canada, I have walked the continental divide in Wyoming though, one of my favorite places in the world. That is cool to hear Debbie, you travel around and hike? This Marmot tent is an older tent that I brought out for the summer because of its light weight, I wouldnt want to carry the heavy hilleberg tents around in addition to a tarp, this was actually filmed in Sweden😂

    • @There4Stand
      @There4Stand 2 роки тому +1

      I thought you had the Marmot when I watched you on one of Joey's adventures (My Own Frontier - You Tube). Wasn't sure though.
      I am grateful that I am able to live this way although there are challenges that are often greater and more unpredictable than bad weather...
      I carry on, travel on..one step at a time 🤓

    What is ASMR?

    • @NorwegianXplorer
      @NorwegianXplorer  2 роки тому

      The letters stand for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and it “describes the experience of tingling sensations in the crown of the head, in response to a range of audio-visual triggers such as whispering, tapping, and hand movements sounds like chewing, sniffling, tapping, whistling, and breathing. ASMR often features those sounds, as well as a variety of others.
