This movie was the most beautiful tragedy. He compartmentalizes his feelings and sets aside his humanity in certain affairs. He tries willingly to hold on dearly to the things he eventually loses. He's like an everyday man except with more power. It's so tragic in the most literate sense
The laws of power applied to the godfather what a brilliant idea for a video! I read some comments saying Michael is too cold. I don't think so. Yes he is intelligent, analytical and calculated in his actions. But he still feels things deeply, that is why the constant betrayals are hard or him. But he isn't ruled by his emotions when it comes to deciding what to do about it. That's what sets him apart. He is shrouded in mystery. People don't know his plans or thoughts. You have given me a whole new perspective about having enemies, it's a brilliant analogy. When Michael got back from Cuba it was one blow after another: Fredos betrayal, Senate hearing, his failing marriage, losing his mother just too much to deal with. I think what really turned Michael ice cold was when Kay told him she got an abortion you could see it in his eyes before he closed the door in her face. Great video 👍👍

Wow isn't that a blast from the past 🤔 I defo will cover GOT characters on the channel, especially Littlefinger. I agree with 100% that he is one of the most machiavellian characters throughout TV show history!
I was thinking the exact same thing when he brought up concealing intentions, with one phrase he used sounding almost exactly like one of littlefinger’s quotes from the show
Not gonna lie. Everytime I watch Fredo's lament to Michael I get teary eyed by how stinkingly relatable and close his feelings are to the average man including myself. The feeling of inadequacy is a dark smear inside us all that festers resentment and toxic ambitions that result in the collateral damage brought by a loss of one's soul
What I find scary about Micheal is that he was never a wannabe gangster,he even had contempt for the mafia life . When his fathers life was threatened he enters the life as a businessman to preserve and protect the family name. Micheal was cold and detached but totally affective. Must admit in GF3 ( when he was at a much loved old Dons funeral) he says ‘Why were you so loved and I was so feared?’ Micheal knew why. Funny thing is GF3 s a film is not as powerful as the first two but n my humble opinion the confession scene with the priest and Micheal nearly brings me to tears. Eddie Murphy once said that you never know when you are making a great movie but you know when you’re making one that sucks. When they were filming the Godfather I doubt that they realised at they were making a roll Royce of a movie. Could watch it everyday 👍🏾
Michael was dragged in when he goes to the hospital and finds his father alone and knows that people are coming to kill his father. Michael's training as a Marine gave him an advantage. He also received a Medal of Honor for bravery. He was not afraid. From his father he learned that you must think ahead think of what your enemies maybe thinking. Critical thinking strategizing. He was super smart much like his father. For many years Vito Corleone planned his vengeance on the old man who wiped out his family. This is why family was so important to him and what it meant.
Michael was an improvement on Vito. Vito demonstrated clearly attachment and emotion. Eg: Vito kills back home to avenge his mother. Michael demonstrates regret but willingness to dispassionately act in order to remove an obstacle (Solozzo/McCluskey/Fredo). Note how Michael is present in person for at least one assassination he greenlit. I may be wrong but I don't believe Vito got that "up close and personal" as a Don. The two do intersect, however, for example when in the early 1900s Vito clinically eliminates the neighbourhood vulture Fanucci. Overall I find the trajectory of the more "unlikely" leader most fascinating. The legacy of the character was somewhat marred by Godfather pt. 3, but with time I don't think that movie was _as_ bad as the stick critics gave it.
Then again, Vito like You said not only killed Fanucci. But also killed Don Ciccio's Goons And Don Ciccio Himself Up close and personal. Values are different because in a way Vito lost his family so the one he formed would never be intentionally hurt by him. Whereas though Michael loved his family, he was always the outsider of the family and thought differently from many of them. Clearly as we can come to agree, him being marine captain helped him get on the road to be comfortable in dangerous situations. That coldness and calculation was brought forth into his life back at home once his father was shot and family members dying all around him.
Michael 6:55 knew about Carlo's accessory tactic talk about keeping your enemies closer after so many years Carlo was unaware of Michael's knowledge pretty scary and smart
Bravo 👏🏾👏🏾 what an amazing dissection into the mind of Michael Corleone! I am captivated by this character. If I could give Michael a sign, it would be a Capricorn.
I always thought that by asking Carlo whether Tattaglia or Barzini approached him, Michael was trying to find out if Carlo had really set Sonny up. Likely, Carlo doesn't know what Vito and Michael knew, i.e. that it was Barzini all along. Carlo may have been led to believe that the war was mainly with Tattaglia and if he had answered "It was Tattaglia" Michael would have known Carlo did not set Sonny up and may have let him live. By revealing it was Barzini, Michael knows Carlo is guilty. What do you think?
I always wondered why he asked that question. I didn’t know why it would matter. Now I know. He did have the Airline tickets. So yes he may have decided to kill Carlo based on how he answered.
in case you didnt know, the most event that influenced michael is turi guiliano in sicillian novel. turi guiliano was the hero that michael aspired to be, and he was ended up betrayed by his best friend and his life mission to free sicillian people from rome was finally stopped by vito corleone in exchange of michael's life, also by other dons and rome government that wished him dead. so vito's lessons to michael made him moved from heroic's mindset into business' mindset
I am glad to see someone else who read that book.Yes Michael exactly learned soemthing from Guiliano's death and knew you should be more cautious about your friends than your enemies
Regarding how Michael knew it was Carlo who betrayed Sonny, Michael didn't know but he manipulated Carlo to admit it himself. Michael looked for a 'tell'; a bodily gesture or verbal remark that convinced him it was Carlo. The 'tell' was subtle, but Michael picked up on it. This demonstrated Michael's remarkable ability to 'read' people,
Awesome video! Just had a question, How do I conceal my intentions and not develop a reputation for deceit? If you could give an example that would be great. Thanks!
Please Make a Video about Fredo Corleone. It would be useful as we would know what what he mistakes that we could never think we could make. Whether it is being submissive in conversations, or very weak as he chases respect rather than showing respect for himself.
This is perfect if your in a crime family but if you’re just some dude, following these rules with be the quickest way to alienate yourself from those around you lol
Nah. It even works in businesses as mundane as retail sales. You may have good friends, coworkers, and even friendly coworkers, but never trust any completely. When given a choice between loyalty or their own interest, almost all will choose their interest. The only way you can lessen the risk is to make both the same, loyalty and their gain. If your best friend on the job gossips about other coworkers, even if they really do love you, they'll gossip about you too. Don't give them secrets to guard, but instead secrets they can lose to your company enemies. In this way, you can subtly guide both in directions you wish. Compartmentalize. Keep one part of yourself on the job only for you. Be loyal to those who serve you, but never give them a greater burden than their loyalty can bear.

Michael is very easy to understand. The way he thinks is: "Trust nobody" and " When in doubt...kill. " He lives everyday as if it was his last. He never smiles or is happy. He expects one of his own bodyguards to have him whacked but he knows there is nothing he can do about it. That is the life he lives.

I definitely agree Lalen! 💯 I already covered Thomas Shelby on the channel in similar way, so make sure you check it out 👉 ua-cam.com/video/jFKhYqjxApk/v-deo.html
Thought the same thing while watching all 3 Godfathers last week.
Can’t wait for Peaky season 6
Excellent point
@@wattsnottaken1 Did you watch the new cut of 3? It just dropped.
Both war veterans who saw some crazy crap…
one of the greatest gangster franchises? it is the best, dude.
Yeah I can see what you mean, but peaky blinders is definitely up there for me also!
Oh how I’ve been waiting for this gem🤤
Right!
Took my a while but we got there in the end 🙌 💯
@@TheGoldenKnowledge it was totally worth it boss. thank you for your time!
“All warfare is based on deception” yes it’s Sun Tzu’s quote but who else thought of Makarov from Mw3 loading screen?
Wow what a throwback 😂 You're going to make me start covering old school COD characters soon 💯
@@TheGoldenKnowledge “How to think like Makarov from the Modern Warfare Trilogy” or maybe Captain Price, Shepherd, etc. or maybe even Soap 🧼
This is gold !
Awesome video, like how you highlight the characters
Good stuff
I like the fake punch scene with Sonny and Carlo 🤣🤣 🤜🏼 😵
Hi, loved your analysis and even took notes. You were spot on in everything. You've earned yourself another subscriber. Now you make me wanna watch the GF1 and GF2 again for the millionth time lol 😆
man, this whole video is all about where I've gone wrong in life. Always helping friends only to be royal screwed by them in the end. I am such a schlub!
You can always still learn and change my man! 💭 Don't sweat it too much 💯
@@TheGoldenKnowledge appreciate you and the support mate. I’m working on it.
Never let ppl know what you thinking and never tell what you doing are going to do this is well said to the point you have to keep ppl off balance and you have to test your friends every now and then never put 💯 trust in friends or family betray don’t come enemies you already know they will hurt you! I like sonny to but he was a open book to read Michael is a close book 📕 never know how he going to come at you and he has patients 💯💯💪🏽💪🏽🙏🏽
Could you do a video on Little finger from GOT? He is a character that has always fascinated me. One of the most machiavellian characters of all time lol.
Wow isn't that a blast from the past 🤔 I defo will cover GOT characters on the channel, especially Littlefinger. I agree with 100% that he is one of the most machiavellian characters throughout TV show history!
Chaos is a ladder....
I was thinking the exact same thing when he brought up concealing intentions, with one phrase he used sounding almost exactly like one of littlefinger’s quotes from the show
what’s he like
Greatest movie....ever! So many teaching points in life!!!!
Must admit in GF3 ( when he was at a much loved old Dons funeral) he says
‘Why were you so loved and I was so feared?’
Micheal knew why.
Glad you covered this - you have great taste
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed 🙌
Great video. It’s how to be a Machiavellian Prince. I think you have to make an video about Niccolo Machiavelli
Thanks man! I've touched on Machiavelli with my breakdown of Pablo Escobar if you want to check that out 👉 ua-cam.com/video/tPnkgnQM0-k/v-deo.html
I didnt expect this video to be so good
Good job brotha
Thanks my brother! Glad you enjoyed 🙌
Amazing! Breakdown of Pacino's character in the Godfather ! Beautiful insight. You mu friend earned a subscriber
Thanks Jay! Glad you enjoyed my man 🙌 Looking forward to providing you with more valuable content in the future 💯
Please do Animal Kingdom the TNt TV show. It will be very much appreciated 😀
I like how michael immediately takes that drink from carlo after his confession 💀💀💀 never gets old
Thanks for the advice. Now all of my friends sleep with the fishes.
Just make sure your new friends don't ever take sides with anyone, against the family again 💭
Thank you for such an awesome analysis and presentation!! Love The Godfather and Michael (+ Al Pacino of course)
Thank you my brother! Glad you enjoyed man! 🙌
Brilliant content, brother. You have my respect.
I really enjoyed this - Insightful indeed. Keep up the good work!
I would love for you do one on FreeWay Rick Ross. Very inspiring man!
Thanks for the suggestion man! His story is defo crazy, and I'll surely be conducting research into him very soon! 💯
Thanks man I need these kind of video !
in case you didnt know, the most event that influenced michael is turi guiliano in sicillian novel. turi guiliano was the hero that michael aspired to be, and he was ended up betrayed by his best friend and his life mission to free sicillian people from rome was finally stopped by vito corleone in exchange of michael's life, also by other dons and rome government that wished him dead. so vito's lessons to michael made him moved from heroic's mindset into business' mindset
I am glad to see someone else who read that book.Yes Michael exactly learned soemthing from Guiliano's death and knew you should be more cautious about your friends than your enemies
You have to keep your friends close…but the enemies closer!!!
Excellent learning tool. ‘Thank You’ for this insightful comprehension of knowledge.
Now this knowledge that i couldn't refuse 👍🤣
LMAOOO what a punchline! This deserves more likes 😂 💯 Glad you enjoyed
This demonstrated Michael's remarkable ability to 'read' people,
I love how Vito handle the situation of sonny to be in the top of speech
Vito truly is a badass! 💭
A Marine Always a Marine Semper Fidelis!!
Really enjoy and getting a lot out of your videos. Thank you.
Awesome video! Just had a question, How do I conceal my intentions and not develop a reputation for deceit? If you could give an example that would be great. Thanks!
Hollywood gives talented actors to act but Al Pacino gives art of acting to Hollywood
Please Make a Video about Fredo Corleone. It would be useful as we would know what what he mistakes that we could never think we could make. Whether it is being submissive in conversations, or very weak as he chases respect rather than showing respect for himself.
Thanks man! That definitely is a really good suggestion, I'll add it to my list and get working on it ASAP 🙌
I love this guy's voice. It's like there's a question mark after every sentence. Unironically love it.
Great analysis. Subscribed.
Thanks Alexander! Glad you enjoyed 🙌
This is perfect if your in a crime family but if you’re just some dude, following these rules with be the quickest way to alienate yourself from those around you lol
Not really. It might work for businessmen or politicians, y’know, people in high positions. Leaders....
Thank God I don't mess with people that much
only if you are readable
Wonderfully constructed! Ideas presented and visual aides through video clips and animations! One video in you got me as a subscriber!
I'm impressed! Great analysis! You've earned a new sub here!
Thanks BD! Glad you enjoyed 🙌
Respect is earned. Not asked for. Michael built his balls over years of toil and hardwork.
There is a subtle nuance in power so much that if you can't see it, you're the one being played.
In GF part 3, Michael would detest his mindset for in the end, krama was never added into his equation.
Your in-depth thoughtfulness and breakdown of it all. Please do one the British Royal family and it’s ascension on world politics ie their financial power base and control🙏
Great informations,thanks.Good Luck!
Hiding intentions strategically and with intentions can save lives and keep others unaware of darker thoughts.
2:34 In this instance ENVELOPE is pronounced as two syllables with the emphasis on the second syllable and the E Is silent: en-VELope
Just a small detail, but if you’re reading a script, it’s best to understand what the words are meant to convey.
Thank you for sharing
Peace
The best video i have seen in too much time
Thanks Alejandro! Glad you enjoyed 🙌
😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is excellent. Thanks
Superb observation: worthy of lifelong observation. Such reasoning is found exercised in Jesus the Christ , & the Lord in the last verses of John chapter 2.
Thank you.
