    I was telling my therapist that I always try to fill silence and she asked why, I said "I don't want to make the other person uncomfortable" and then she said "Why do you feel that you're responsable for how they feel?" ....

      You actually had a good therapist. Mine just kept sayin “so why do you feel that way” and I’m like “that’s why I’m here speaking to you”. On another note, I spoke too much about things, was very open which I’ve found people naturally can use it as a tool against you subconsciously. They may not mean to do it (although some people do) but they do, so you either come across sarcastically in a way that it’s not hurtful but they don’t want endure it so they respect you but also understand it’s something that shouldn’t be taken to heart. The other way to go is to be silent, listen and take everything on board of what they’re saying and only speak when you know it’s going to be a good answer.

    Don Vito also almost never swore.
    That, too, made him more powerful.
    Swearing in anger shows everyone that you've been triggered by them and/or their words.

      Yep very true, Don Vito had a kindness to him, even in his speech, which he managed to display without it ever being taken as a weakness. Swearing is a sure-fire way to let people know you've been rattled.

    I think it is massively misunderstood that silence is power, its the other way around. A powerful man is always silent because he doesn't need to show off a false front. Being silent doesn't always mean one is powerful.

    • @QuietlyMagnetic
      @QuietlyMagnetic  2 роки тому +4

      Interesting observation, largely makes good sense. Silence alone is insufficient agreed, it must form part of a wider power base. However, in more mundane day to day interactions, where both parties have a neutral power base, silence can have major benefits in the right circumstances.

  • @gloverdragon6854

    Great analysis. You could argue that Michael paid the ultimate price the one time he was not as quiet as he could’ve been. This was when he was in Sicily and his name and who he was were being slowly but surely leaked out…especially when he got married to the love of his life with the traditional Sicilian wedding.

    • @QuietlyMagnetic
      @QuietlyMagnetic  3 роки тому +11

      @@QuietlyMagnetic no problem, man. It was a very pivotal happening in the movie. He never ran around screaming who he was with an energy of sonny or with an ignorance of fredo but he did slip out his own identity in the movie. In the book he also tells an older woman. In the movie tells the father that a lot of people would pay a lot of money for that kind of info…and then those people made his body guard an offer he could not refuse. Imo, michael lost a carbon copy of his own mother in his first wife and for me it was a symbol that michael was definitely not going to be a complete 100% copy of his father.

    You are right, silence is powerful. Whether it is healthy depends on where it’s coming from though. Is it from a place of self-knowledge, confidence and assurance? Or is it coming from a place of doubt, fear and suffering? Either way, silence does much less harm than words.

    • @QuietlyMagnetic
      @QuietlyMagnetic  3 роки тому +9

      Yes definitely agreed. The source of silence is important, if it’s from fear, hesitation or lack of confidence, then arguably it has little power. Hence the use of Michale and Vito Corleone as our case study, where’s it clear that there silence is from a place of strength. Thanks for watching and the support!

    I used to watch Godfather as a kid and it was super boring so I could not finish it but after a couple of years I decided to rewatch it and man so many themes and lessons Godfather is a story about mafia but at its core it is a story about family, father and son and a man's willful descent into darkness
    Vito's wisdom about life and family I was able to grasp only recently while Michael's disregard of his brother and wife sealed his fate
    absolutely brilliant

    • @QuietlyMagnetic
      @QuietlyMagnetic  3 роки тому +1

      Yep, totally agree. There are so many sub themes and arcs in the movies, each worthy of their own detailed analysis. Whilst many have issues with Godfather 3, the line where Michael tells Kate decades later (included in my video) “I had a whole different destiny planned” really was powerful and makes it hard to not feel even a little sorry for Michael. He was a complex man.

    The one thing about The Godfather I think a lot of people don't realize is the primary difference between Michael and Sony. It's not as big as most people think and it is a singular different only. When you get right down to it everything Sonny "talked-about " Michael did. Sonny wanted to kill Slolazo, Michael did, Sonny wanted to kill Tataglia, Michael did. Sonny wanted to go to war, Michael did or he created a circumstance where he didn't need to. It wasn't that Sonny had bad ideas; no what he lacked was strategy. He had bad tactics. It is truly only in temperament that they are really different. Otherwise the same in beliefs and motivation. Thier world view is the same ultimately although I will admit it took the loss o his first wife and the shooting of Vito for Michael to come to this view. As the narrator so keenly points out Michael acted in the silence whereas everyone knew how Sonny would react. Michael was less predictable and completely patient. The Greeks said it best "character is destiny " Sonny was destined to meet that fate with that family. There is a lot to be learned from this movie. I know I have.

    • @QuietlyMagnetic
      @QuietlyMagnetic  3 роки тому +2

    I see silence as power. But i believe this type of silence comes from huge inner battles which make man or women be stronger than their fears. They know fear well which is why it has no power over them like with most of us.
    I might lack in explaining my thoughts tho because English is not my first language.
    His silence was more than egoistic ruthless domination which he has been in position to use, it came from wisdom. Ability to see what they want,why they came,who they are.

    I always wanted to ask whenever I watch this video for guidance: Which is the movie/series from which a clip is shown at 3:42 ? A cute girl like her is an offer I can't refuse.. But to be honest, I immensely Admire that Man and always think if he doesn't regret not, at the least, even 'regarding' her! So today I thought It should be asked.. 1. In what context was the scene from 3:42 - 3:50 ?
    2. Had he had any hidden Agenda for being a 'bouldering Rock type': like wooing her, sometimes for monetary value as he seemed a powerful and scheming gladiator in suits ?
    3. And most importantly but with Guilty pleasure and sorry to say, with cringe interest, did any romantic entanglements happen between them like Bollywood movies?(tbh I wanted to ask all of these one year before because of this cringing curiosity but like the dentist says after shooting #CalvinCandie in #DjangoUnchained : "I couldn't Resist.... As the Girl's such a sweetheart I wouldn't let go at any cost or cause!)
    AND BECAUSE OF ALL THESE THOUGHTS, I COULDN'T CONCENTRATE ON THE REST OF THE VIDEO and RETURN AGAIN AND AGAIN.. STILL!

    It’s crazy how Michael and Tony Montana is so different they even look diff even though both is Pacino . so diff for each other that’s how good Al Pacino is one of the best it’s so hard to play as diff mob guys with diff personalities but they are so different! Tony is a hothead loudmouth who don’t care and is bossy, while Michael is more calm and wiser, thinker and observer, Al Pacino needs to be more talked about when it comes to actors pure acting in goat Convo

    Yow, forgot to comment, video was really interesting. If i may suggest one of the next videos, perhaps it would be about Jordan Peterson ? I think there is a lot to talk about in his case, and u can pretty much work the subject from any perspective. Perhaps some titles like "Jordan Peterson, the art of telling what's necessary" , "Jordan Peterson is the dad you wished you had", "Be born a fool, live a warrior, die a legend". Idk, i really think that it would get you the views that you deserve and bring a broader audience to you ^^.
