I LOVE that woman Ms. Cartland - could listen to her ALL day! What a sad, sad and less colourful place the world is today without her... Why are people/celebrities so DULL an uninteresting today and have nothing to say? She was WONDERFUL! Thanks for uploading this.
Totally agree! 🌹
You what?
@@jamesmalone1680 Read again! 🙂
This is absolutely fascinating, I wish you would put up the entire interview!
Little Britain makes more sense now.
So does Dame Edna Everage
A true Englishwoman
She was one of the best. 🥰 she had grace.
1977 was the year that I, as a innocent young woman, discovered her novels and fell in love. Imagine my surprise when I discovered real life wasn't that way.
Approaching 76 at this interview. Phenomenal !
One of the original 'Bright Young Things'
She almost reached 100
This interviewer Mavis Nicholson is outstanding, so intelligent and good at getting her guests to give real and thoughtful answers. She was before my time but I've been watching her on UA-cam and every interview is brilliant. Could you please put more up.
totally agreed!
She's fascinating - totally original interviewer
How wise this lovely lady was. If only the world had listened to her there might be some morals left.
I have no idea how i ended up here, but im glad i did. What a great conversation. Good luck hearing anything like that on tv today.
76! She looks amazing; such great energy
Awesome! I love Barbara Cartland, I grew up reading her books.
Agree with her every word , beautiful lady Barbara Cartland , so articulate

Outstanding interview! What a great lady she was! ❤️🌹❤️👏
Came here after the little Britain parody 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The one thing Matt Lucas did not and could not parody was Barbara's voice because she has no vocal tic that can be imitated.
I love her novels ✌🏼
How many pages?
Yes!, Matthew and Lucas are hilarious
She was promoting something called CLASS
Totally agree! 🌹
Lady Colin Campbell said both her and her daughter were insufferable snobs
@@HRH-THO-II I would rather be a snob than a jealous gossip! Nothing wrong with having high standards.
@@HRH-THO-II Lady Colin Campbell is no one to talk. Glass houses and stones come to mind. Last year she was promoting someone calling himself the Prince of Croatia. Total fake as there hasn't been a Prince of Croatia in 400 years and the last member of the Croatian Royal family died in about 1800.
She lived in her fantasy world allowed by wealth and high social status.
Forced prostitution, minors smuggled into brothels, sexual abuse - all of that had existed during Carltand's youth.
I never read her books, but I think she's marvelous! RIP.🙏🎚️🕊️❤️
what a sweet old lady......
She wasn't old in this interview
@@BlytheWorld1972not really
How a woman that lives writing almost all day in her home knew how reality was going on! I can't believe what would happened her and social media lol
Wow ! She was amazing ! And this pink dress...stunning !! One of Norman Hartnell' s creations, I guess !
She’s amazing. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
I'm 22 and you're beautiful.
I read all of your books 😭😭😍it's was a gift😗
Barbara is so refreshing.. what a sad world without her..
It's her dog for me. She is another inspiration to me as a prolific writer of almost 800 books.
Not of good quality though, how could that possibly be!
I used to go on holiday with Joan Collins, Roger Moore and her, to Zante every October. We invented a game called "Pigs at the Trough" where we'd fill several buckets with moules frites and you had to eat as many as possible without using your hands. She almost always won. She was also a dab hand at installing double glazing, you couldn't keep her away from an uninsulated window, never happier than measuring it up and giving you a quote.
I remember a television interview with her in the 1960s. The interviewer asked her if class distinctions were lessening. She replied, 'Yes, of course they have, otherwise I wouldn't be sitting here talking to someone like you. ' Probably too non PC for some of the extra sensitive souls around these days. And thank goodness for that.
She definitely has a point.. look at the world now 😬
No one has much self respect on many levels
She’s right about her being a lady and not acting like a one night stand.
Things have gone from bad to worse nowadays ..with the arrival of social media.
It’s all about sex on dates.
Totally agree! 🌹
@Flibbertigibbet6 well said! 👏👏👏🌹🌹😎
She's said that women should be 'pure' but men can go around having sex with whomever they want. So who are these men having sex with? Other men? Or lower class women who she sees as sub-human? She has also said that if a man cheats on a woman, it's her own fault, not his. I've seen very faithful wives get cheated on and I know this is not the case.
I agree with purity, and no sex until marriage for both genders. Barbara is an idiot for only preaching purity for women.
I always imagened Barbara Cartland writing her books with a feather pen.
Great thanks for valuable video.
Barbara Cartland for Prime Minister.
This is so apt! So true about what is expected of women these days!
Love hearing her talk, that classic upper RP accent.
Fascinating woman. All the make up and clothes make her look much older. Great skin for 77.
You have to give it to her at 76 she looks fabulous, remember this was long before Botox, and fillers
Agree with her.
Classy and articulate lady.
She was right can we really say ultimately that we are happier today for living in an Uber sexual society? No certainly not .
Ain’t no Uber sex in my bedroom. All lonely like ha
She was Amazing!
She is an inspiration. I wrote a lot of books. If you get into a groove and are fairly good with words it is not so bad but my total is only about 35 plus contributions to another 50 or so, nothing like her quantity.
I am on my fourteenth novel, but before I became a full time novelist, I had written a total of 31 books written full of plays, short stories, poetry and essays. Keep up the good work.

I'm reminded of Mrs Pumfry and Tricky Woo out of All Creatures Great and Small.
shes 76 in this video , increadible how young and wonderful
I adore Mavis. She was an excellent interviewer.
She gave hope to many young adults.
wow she spoke fast!
She wrote 20 novels a year and dictated them. Gift of the gab.
this woman had some style
It's so sad she wasn't invited to her own stepdaughters wedding! They said she was embarrassment ?
Wtf, I think she looks fabulous. Let her live her own life.. who cares if she was a novelist.
I don't understand why she's an embarrassment...
I agree with Barbara
Chrisnat Mills I agree with Barbara as well. We have lost the art of what being a Lady and a Gentleman is all about.
So much so..that I couldn't FIND a real Gentleman.
I never see footage of Dame Barbara Cartland without thinking of Clive James's magnificent description of her appearance:
"Twin miracles of mascara, her eyes looked like the corpses of two small crows that had crashed into a chalk cliff.”
Refreshing.
Love her!
I love how she says her letters are "unpaid, unthanked"
What an image.
Amo a bárbarita!! I love you
No surprise the eminent marriage she helped happening ended in disaster
Just watched Matt Lucas as Barbara and really the truth was stranger than fiction.
The one thing Matt Lucas did not and could not parody was Barbara's voice because she has no vocal tic that can be imitated.
I feel in love with British Culture reading Barbara Cartland ❤
She actually wrote just one book. All the others where the same of the first one with different names. Just like the Italian writer Liala.
😂
Would like to hear about her health advice.
She never ate white bread or sugar and was big into vitamins. I’m sure there’s more.
Little Britain.
I like her more than I thought I would. She was a bit of a “joke” on some shows, but she isn’t
How many pages miss grace??
Did her novels become movies? I loved reading them.
i fuking love this woman, oh my god.
💝💝💝💝💝💝💝
All I can see is Matt Lucas
Ha ha ha!
Thank you😅
Barbara is beautiful ❤️
❤️
I am a great fan of u, I love you alot😍😘
Mavis is excellent..
*IT'S THE MUPPET SHOW!*
Mrs Pumphry!
So true i never go to bed with a man unless iv had a full meal and a good night out x
i believe she once said princess diana read her books too much and that caused her too much trouble thinking the world as to romantic
No she was related to Diana and gave her lots of her books, she liked her reading them. And then she was an awful relative and didn’t talk to Diana for a long time for cheating and getting divorced.
@@conceitedperson78 I know she was Dianas step grand mother so actually not much to do with her tho it was more her step mother that she had issues with Raine Spencer ..
But yeah possibly Gave her lots to read I agree
The living definition of quantity over quality
😭 please enable closed captioning!
Dame Sally Markham
She never waisted Time? Me gustaria oir quien estä hermosa señora ,se ve tan interesante... Y que hermoso su perrito, su cuarto, su vestido ... Que Bonita mujer... Voy a ponerla en mi lista de conocimiento...
When you look back at photos and videos of people who live close to a century or more, they always seem younger or more energetic than their age would indicate through out their lives. Dame Cartland certainly fits the bill. I believe her mother had only recently passed away when this was filmed at the age of 99. Raine didn’t live quite as long as her mother and grandmother.
Ohhh Reaaaalllly Darhhhling how could you talk about such ghastly things??
maggie thatchers hero...lol
She would be 124 yeaes old now
It's 2020, I am a man, and Barbara was right..... we got #metoo, we have women who say they "choose" for abortion while it is their partners and family who treathen to dump them when they keep the child (and then dump them after the abortion anyway), others have begun seeing especially western women as "things to use". Barbara you were TOP. Mavis obvious a leftist reporter who loves the "free sex" introduced in the 60s and 70s
A model of good diction too!
Crazy Barbara! :D
Chapter 1............the end.😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What exactly is so funny about her?
still hot and erotic !
Noillaś
Too bad in her other interviews she is terribly elitist
She looks like Divine
Mavis Nicholson was a brilliant, intelligent interviewer. Barbara Cartload was simply hideous and overblown with little, if any, real literary ability. Dreadful.
This is obviously quite an old interview, but it's remarkable how utterly backward her perspective on sex is.
All her books were practically the same, with different names in them. She was a busy fool rather than a writer of quality, herself verging on parody and absurdity
Basically JK Rowling
woudn't have liked to have met her on a dark night. RIP
Imagine, I used to like her horrible, regressive books.
chapter one..................the end 😀
Shes so glam
How many pages?
