    "The most thing that holds people back isn't the lack of vision it's the lack of consistency towards the vision" 👍🏼👍🏼 eye-opening 👍🏼👍🏼 ..."And the best way to keep your consistency high is your environment" ... I keep coming for this every time 🙂

      @casp6426 5 років тому

      Doesn't make much sense tho. How can you be consistent towards a vision you don't have? Without a vision or goal, you'll most likely lack drive and motivation. You however have to try to at least stay consistent in surviving and trying to better yourself and your life, and perhaps, eventually find your vision or purpose.

    Best tip : surround yourself with alpha males and females. Studies show mimicry is the easiest way for action

      totally true; easiest way to do this for me is joining a facebook business closed group - all of us in the group working on the same goal, some ppl are new, others are mid level, but there are many A-players who regularly post and inspire the rest of us to get going and achieve super success like them; some of them are real nice and will give advice to the rest of us in the group who are struggling. Many of these winners were once strugglers who got inspired by other winners' posts

      Whenever I hear "hang around with the kind of people you want to be" it makes me wonder...why would they want to hang out with you? Especially if, alpha as they are, their sights are on hanging with the people who are like THEY wanna be. Who, in turn, are...

    It is really simple. When you love and are excited about what you do, you can wake up at 5/6 AM with smile on your face and jump out of your bed! When you don't know why you are doing something or you don't like it, you will find million excuses not to do it. #BTA73

      I think this is misleading. There are plenty of reasons we're held back from truly pursuing what we love. I think this dawned on me when I was meaning to play a new videogame I bought and was excited for, but wasted 40 mins on facebook instead because the idea of emotionally and attentively engaging with even a leisure activity made me lazy. That's a problem with the person on a fundamental level, not the activity.

    This is so true and real, I can refer to the "bad environment" part, I see the biggest distraction for me and many other generations is Facebook. The site is overflowed with all sorts of information but usually 90% of it refers to something "funny, stupid, others peoples incidents, events" etc... and the concentration and time spent on facebook is the concentration and time that isn't being spent on your work, dreams, obligations etc... We have ONE TIME and ONE CONCENTRATION. By distracting ourselves we're only making it harder on ourselves to achieve what we want to achieve. So my fav. part of this video is to examine, explore, explore, explore, what sites do you watch, what are you reading, who are you spending time with? Because nobody ordered us to check our facebook every 10 minutes, but this concept is so deeply integrated in our society that we feel as if we have to check it out because everyone is doing it and I don't want to be left out from the crowd. Well if there's one thing that Evan is trying to tell us with his work it is that we don't need to concern ourselves with "being left behind from the crowd", but we need to "build ourselves personally" so we will be the ones leading the crowd. Thanks a lot Evan, you rock man!

  • @jamesforreal
    @jamesforreal 8 років тому +1

    Wow. "Use Love, Fear, and Greed". I never thought of it that way, but the biggest motivators for me is fear and most definitely, love. I refuse to fail someone who means so much to me and it is a fear, but also the love for the same person and their well being is by far a powerful motivational tool - a solemn promise with my soul.

    I REALLY like the 30 day challenge he was talking about and how he referred to "will" as a muscle that you have to strengthen over time. I believe that "Will Power" is the hardest to grow and the quickest to go. so before the 30 day challenge is ever, set another goal to maybe go for another 30 or shoot for 40 or even more, but you can't stop growing that muscle or you'll fall off and then have to start over all over again.

    I really appreciate the four steps Torabi gave: 1. what do you want to avoid 2. What is the desired outcome 3. What is the next step. 3. Repeat. For some reason when I sit down to begin a big project, it's really hard to begin, because it seems so daunting. It reminds me of that saying: every journey begins with a single step

    Can you do a video on learning vs working? I know that I need to spend a lot of time reading books, watching educating videos, talking about what needs to be done next, but at the same time I feel lazy just sitting and reading since I am not actually doing anything. Without an actual accomplishment being done I don't feel like I did anything. I just need to see actual results today, but I know that spending more time learning will make larger and more results tomorrow. Even knowing this still doesn't help the lazy/time wasting feeling go away.

    Hello Evan,
    I've been watching your videos for quite a while, I have several ideas I wanna work on but I've been procrastinating for a long time now. Looking back it helped me figure out what I wanna do, and helped me acquire some new skills.
    Your videos have been and still are very helpful.
    Thank you for pushing us all around the world :) Will get my self a copy of your book, wish you all the success you want.

    Watching your videos or other mentors' videos in the early morning actually works for me. It raises up my energy and motivation, and seems like having a voice inside my head that saying: They can do it, you can do it too, so let's do it! And I start my day with this attitude. It's so easy to be a lazy person, but I like challenges. And my knowledge and skills definitely will "grow up" a bit more when I completed my tasks, or get throw whatever challenges that I faced in my life.
    btw, I loke rule #1 & #3 :D

    Having "leverage over yourself" would have to be my favorite one. I myself wrote on this piece of paper "you can and will do it. If anyone can that's you." & hung it in the bathroom. I could physically feel my excitement level going up every time I looked at that piece of paper. Thank you for an awesome video! This is something that I have struggled with my whole life; Laziness. I feel like this video was made for me. Lol.

    He is absolutely right about working in steps. Yesterday I ran a mile (it had been a year since I've ran that distance). I thought well let's do half a mile then from half a mile I said I might as well keep going. I finished in 9 minutes. Navy Seals say "when you think you are done, you are only 40% there."

    I believe that everything happens for a reason. That the universe brings you what you need at the exact moment when you not only need to hear it but when you are truly ready to receive it. That moment for me was 30 minutes ago when I saw this video while researching for news on what's happening in our government today. The fact that the first speaker (Eric Thomas) spoke of a book he had been trying to write, that took 10 years, sent me into tears. I'll be honest, I started crying hysterically because he was speaking directly to me. For 4 years and to this day I have been in that place. I have been stuck. I have lost faith. I let fear and excuses take over. I cried because I realized my biggest obstacle, was me. I am an artist, writing my first graphic novel on a subject inspired by a dream and which I know nothing about (artificial intelligence). This novel will be an animated film. This is my goal. I will write, illustrate and lead in the animation of this novel. It will be produced by Laika, co-directed by Guillermo del Toro and inspired by Ghibli Studio. These are my goals. This video broke me. It made me realize that fear is a choice. Although it is a very valid emotion, it is how you choose to embrace that fear that makes the difference. I have rooted myself in the choice to stay where I have become most comfortable and have had the most success (coming up with an intriguing idea that everyone I spoke to about it loved). Then came the fear, the fear of failure. The fear that "...I couldn't pull this off." So there I've sat, in the success and glory of an "idea". Not only has this video made me realize I had embedded myself in and built a fortress of excuses around me protecting myself from that fear but it helped me to see that I was not fulfilling my purpose. I am an artist, a story teller (in pictures and words), a dreamer of dreams, a voice for those who cannot speak. The creative mind helps society imagine the "impossible" and inspire hope. This is my purpose and I thank you. I thank you Eric Thomas for waking me up. For being the vessel that gave me a proverbial smack in the face to make me fight my way out of this quicksand of excuses. To take the first step in truly, believing in myself. Thank you.
