- With its history dating back to the 1600s, the minute repeater is arguably watchmaking's most romantic complication. And today no maker produces more storied and special minute repeaters than Patek Philippe. Recently we had the amazing opportunity to go hands-on with nine, yes NINE, modern Patek Philippe minute repeaters side-by-side in a sound proof chamber - and of course we had to film and record everything for you. Every piece a Masterpiece in every sense. The amount of work and intense precision into making these movements are unimaginable. I know.
The effect of marketing...
These are amazing watches! The complications are insane.
Scary to even think how many millions of dollars worth of watches are laying on that little table there
We'll never see content like this from Hodinkee ever again
Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding
Ding dong ding dong ding dong
12:45 for deaf people
Thank you, would you like your $300,000 in Bitcoin or gold?
Epitome of top notch craftsmanship rite there.
That 5307P must have a monstrous price. Though it had the best tone with a nice perfect 5th.
I think it's a perfect 3rd. Cheers.
chogno98 There's no such thing as a perfect 3rd.
The first note is an Eb, the second a Gb. It’s a minor third.
kyleverson nice pitch. Interesting that PP are happy with E flat minor. I wonder if the Stern family are particular fans of Rachmaninoff’s Étude Tableau, op.39 no.5, or perhaps they are making a very subtle reference to Schubert’s Impromptu no.2 D.899, finishing in that key... or maybe they just like Dave Brubeck’s recording of Take 5?! (I, for one, would prefer my PP or Lange und Söhne minute repeater to be in its relative key of G flat major).
it's a minor third
stunning, amazing video
Looks like a little snowman ringing two bells
how amazing is that!
Amazing
Beautiful horology
Sure would love to get a peek inside a couple of them.
Bookmarked!!!!!!
house on a wrist
+Chris L not a house for the individuals who wear these watches :P
175 year old watches that look like they were made yesterday, would you expect less for that kind of craftsmanship when “technology” doesn’t last a quarter of that.
Amazing pieces
Mansion on a wrist
I’ll take one of each!
最后的一段,很有趣。
The ladies' one sounded the best.
Entire collection? I didn't see my favourite Reference 5013. This was discontinued in 2010 so perhaps the reason not in the collection shown here.
5074P was my favorite. Next best was 5216.
The fourth wheel on the 5307 looks quite odd...
which is your favourite?
what are the numbers on the dial?
How come there's so much drool on my keyboard???
Lovely watches, shame most of the images were out of focus.
5207R!
Contrary to movies, you cannot fit a million dollars in bills into a briefcase. You can, however, fit half a dozen Patek Philippe minute repeaters into a lady's purse. And that's how you carry a million bucks effortlessly on your person--that, or diamonds.
Money laundering.
What does cathedral gong mean? Are the rods differant or just thicker or thin?
glock19carrier The chiming gongs go twice around the case. Most minute repeaters the gongs only go once round. That is why it gives a "deeper" sound
all of them go around twice, have you seen the assembly videos?
@@arunmfive you are wrong
why arent any of the seconds running?
You don't need for the watch to run for the minute repeater to function. You charge the minute repeater with the button used to engage it
trade my kidney for a 5074P ?
+sonick808 your kidney isn't worth €500K both your kidneys aren't worth €500K, in fact you and your whole family most likely aren't even worth €500K :D
sonick808 hahahahahaha

5307
Everyone gangsta until the 5074 arrives
Eargasm
This would be my reply to someone if they stated Rolex were the greatest.
Laurent Junod... He looks like Archi after loosing weight...
And devils horn surgery.
How much? 20,000?
$ 630,000 plus taxes.
ntphong999 Me: *looks at watch* "hmm, i might get one when im older" *sees the price* "nopenopenopenope"
+fartfacestudios hahaha add another 0 to that estimate that might get you a used one with a minute repeater and a annual calendar. If you want one with a minute repeater, perpetual calendar, moon phase, etc second hand they start around 350k to 400k.
Try 700,000
The 5539 (the first watch shown) has printed EMAIL instead of Swiss Made on the dial
It's french for enamel, referring to the enamel face
Thank you very much!!
John Doe oohhho
@3:05 - “this is a Platinum dial as well” - strange mistake for one of Patek’s senior watchmakers to make 🤨 The case is Pt, not the dial
beste Manufaktur aller Zeiten
But they are not minute at all, they are all far too large.
Any rich sugar daddy's here? i want one .
Patek Philippe is over priced. Change my mind.
You're not just buying the watch. You're buying a commitment that Patek will still be in business in 100 years to repair that watch for your grandchild (so you want them to be wildly profitable this year to be able to stay in business when times are tough), and you're buying exclusivity. Wearing a Patek isn't just about saying "i appreciate fine craftmanship", it's about not meeting someone at dinner with the same watch. There are two ways of creating exclusivity - one is insufficient supply for the demand (ie. long waitlists or lotteries), or insanely high prices.
If you value only the tangible goods that Patek sell, then it is overpriced; but if you consider that you're buying something tangible (the watch) and something intangible (the indicator of wealth) - then it's not overpriced.
tl;dr: paradoxically, the high price is part of the product being purchased.
It's not overpriced, you are just under capitalized.
@@JayandSarah 😂😂😂😂😂👏🏿
Great, another bunch of Rolex wannabes.
If you want the real deal, just get the real deal. Why bother with pretenders?
Your funny. Rolex is mass produced and then advertised as rare. It’s the biggest joke in the watch world
It's hard to tell if you've got a dry wit (in which case, HA HA!), or if you need to spend a little longer learning about swiss watches before commenting about them on a public forum.
