Here is something that I wanted to do for a long time. Took less than an hour to finish.

Hoyts Distribution was the film and video distribution arm of The Hoyts Group, an Australian cinema operator. They dropped out of the distribution business in the mid-90s but reformed in 2002. They have had joint ventures with PolyGram and have a continuing partnership with Sony and also distributed all Cannon productions. During their last years, they mainly handle the distribution of Summit Entertainment films. In April 2012, Hoyts' distribution arm was acquired by StudioCanal and was rebranded StudioCanal Australia.
My next logo history will be on Sullivan Entertainment.

What are your favorite logos from Hoyts Distribution?
The first (1984-90), third (1988-93) and fourth (2002-12) logos.
That funny ending of the second logo is lit 🥸
This video brought back so much nostalgia! Why? It's because I haven't see Hoyt's logos since I made a logo history on them on New Year's Eve 2016. Half a decade later and here I am watching them again, but they're now in higher quality and there are more rare finds! The Hoyts Productions logo seemed the most interesting, and the different music selections in the third logo. This video is another favourite of mine and so is your VCI Logo History video! Looking forward to future videos, and thanks for the great videos Jonty! :-)
Thanks again! Glad to hear you got loads of nostalgia from this video. In fact, I decided I wanted to do my own take after seeing your logo history on the company. I also remember their logos very well. I remember seeing the 2nd and 3rd logo when I was about 11 years old. There are indeed more variants, including a low tone version of the first logo, different music selections in the third logo, and a crisp quality version of the 4th logo, which is from the 35mm UA-cam channel, FT Depot. Basically the next Jonathan Froes. Glad you're looking forward to my future videos!
Excellent logo history of Hoyts, Jonty! These logos from Hoyts look very interesting. I'm going to do a review on these logos because why not. So the 1st logo is simple animation. It's just the camera zooming out of the Hoyts logo in a blocky font, and then "PRESENTS" appearing and the background fading to blue. That's it. The 2nd logo is the most infamous, because of the dated 3D animation and graphics, and then all of a sudden you hear the echoing voice saying "HOYTS!". It would probably get some people off-guard, especially being in a theater. The 3rd logo has neat light neon effects on the Hoyts logo, sure it's dated by today's standards but still. The 4th logo is not one of the most memorable logos of all time but it sure has some of the best CGI for Australian logo standards.
Thanks, Man, and great review! Here are my thoughts on each logo.
1st: Not bad for a first logo. I think it's a pretty cool logo.
2nd: Great CGI for 1985! The short version with the echoing voice could creep out some viewers!
3rd: Pretty good animation done by Pike Productions! The music in the Hoyts Presents logo is extremely catchy, and the animation fits in with it.
4th: Definitely Hoyts Distribution's best animated logo.
Hoyts Distribution Logo History
There was a rare Hoyts logo at the beginning of the Australian and NZ VHS releases of Dances With Wolves, which a Hoyts logo shined itself to reveal the logo, and the word *DISTRIBUTION* semi-circled around the logo. And the background appear to be green-ish gold stone marble as well. It also had no background music either, as the logo went on for roughly 10 seconds.
Hoyts Films released the animated film The Thief and the Cobbler in Australia
They were also the Australian distributor for The Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Episode 207 will be Sullivan Entertainment
nice history!
Thanks, man!
