700 million in bailout three years ago? WOW!!! And they have to file for bankruptcy and put everybody out of work huh 🤔. I wonder who got rich on that deal?
No kidding.😢 I feel so sorry for all of those drivers who have no job now. Some have lost their retirement now, but I bet the higher ups are sitting pretty.
union heads got some of it.
Who do you think got rich The big guy that’s who
@@roymoxley2587yea the big guy got his 10%
Look up Celadon Trucking out of Indianapolis and what hate them! Same exact thing as yellow all the higher ups got theirs and lobbyists got theirs not to mention the corrupt gooberment!
Yellow laid me off in 94, thank god I was young enough to start another career...
Congratulations on your 20 years at Yellow. Stay positive I am certain you have a lot to offer your next employer and you will succeed in any position you take.
I hate being (that guy) but this is only going to get worse we must remove
the corruption from our government ... Trump 2024
Any accountability to those who drove the company to the ground?
@@DIRTYdeeds613 what did Yellow do with $700M covid relief funds?
@@leepialong More than likely the 700 Million was spent on Salaries for 30,000 employees. Health care benefits for the same number with the exception of the last 2 months for the Teamsters. 401-K contributions along with paying their vendors who supplied fuel, spare parts, toilet tissue, hand soap, paper towels, copy paper, ect. Rent on the facilities they do not own and Property Taxes on Facilities they own. Payments on trucks, trailers, and forklifts they didn't own needed to be paid. The 25% reduced payment for legacy costs to the Central States Pension Plan for previous employees covered. Repairs to the facilities 9roofs, fences, parking lots,) and don't forget SERVICING THE EXTREMELY HIGH DEBT. Consultants, Lawyers, and Financial firms as the struggled to raise funds, find a buyer, or package the company for dissolution or Bankruptcy.
Hopefully, he still has a pension
This is really scary stuff. The supply chain has been an absolute mess these past few years. We all lose because of this. An enormous load has been added to a messy supply chain. I don't think people realize how bad this news is. Probably the worst thing to happen to America this year. You're basically taking toothpaste and trying to jam it back into another toothpaste tube. Our economy is going to shrink because of this.
Thank the Biden Administration!
Who's in charge? Oh right Mayor Pete, too busy private flying all over the world, instead of doing his job
@@hansenhansen8349This has very little to do with the president. Yellow/YRC Freight has been mismanaged for many years now. The Roadway/Holland/YRC merger was a huge messy failure. $700 billion dollar loan, and the unionized members didn't see a dime of that money, only non union workers got paid. I feel for all Yellow employees, my fellow blue collar brothers, involved.
This is what happens when people vote for the treasonous democrats. When are people going to learn what the treasonous democrats really are? Wake the f up America! We are turning into a 3rd world nation thanks to treasonous joe and his cronies !
the government needs to to do a full forensic audit on yellow corp. not only for the tax payers money but the Billions of dollars that where given back to the company through concessions from it's union employees ! I believe we as employees that made these sacrifices have a right to know .
@@stevebeegreat dude get real you have no idea what yo are talking about

It all went to top brass and to Trumps defense fund.
That is a stunning hair helmet the news guy has there
😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I had to triple take. 😂 wth?
700 million and they still have the nerve to say they are bankrupt? What are the odds the executives have their own tropical island, jets, mansions and yachts?
They embezzled these people retirement funds, Period. I work the LTL and I’m sure they’re profits have been the best they have in years but they wanna swindle these folks out they’re retirements. There needs to be a major investigation and audit
The teamsters union is in charge of their retirement accounts!
Unions need to take full responsibly for this! They waged and benefitted these people right into unemployment!
None of these reporters say anything about the strike. The teamsters said this is what we want or we strike? Yellow said ok we.ll shut down permanantly. Remember when people would try to work out a deal??? Look at Schneider in Green Bay, Wi. It was "Schneider Transport" When AJ Schneider turned the reins over to his son Don in 1976 shortly afterwards the union/drivers had a Wild Cat Strike. After that Don hated unions so he started hiring non union drivers for his Schneider National "division" which was the "donation" account to get around the union. Simply amazing.
This is pure evil, the day of getting a pension is dead do to greed and government bureaucratic bs.
Exactly
this was a 22 year Bain Capital style destruction, YELLOW destroyed Jevic, Preston, Roadway, Holland, Reddaway, New Penn, and Yellow...
I know Saia is thanking God they got spun off back in 2002
@wmg33 Yellow is one of the reasons why Saia began to grow rapidly. Yellow merged multiple carriers into Saia and increased its service area and customer base. Yellow wanted Saia to build it into a top competitive non-union carrier. I've been saying for years that Saia is the real Yellow
A lot of Trucking Companies won't want YRC Drivers even though they all really need drivers, dockworkers, etc.. Hiring a Teamster Driver/Worker is a huge risk for any NON-UNION Company. It would be a risky bet for them to bring in an employee(s) that could disrupt their Company by pushing their current employees to become Teamsters.
Most people would refuse to listen to the former Teamster folks but some may fall for the "UNION" lies anyway...
@@howardj602 Plus they can pay them 1/2 of what Americans earn.
🎯
One week to see a doctor. Just wow.
please we need to remember it's not just drivers their is dockworkers and mechanics and clerical workers and janitors 22000 union employees that sacrificed over the past 15 years to keep this company afloat
I had many years in the company when it was roadway & roadway was good company to work for before the incompetent yellow bought them which became YRC corp, I knew this would come to an end one day was just a matter of time & that time finally happened..
I drove semi for years & I'm surprised at this some degree. When Yellow & Roadway merged I knew something was wrong.
Can someone post executive names and the amount of money they are walking away with? As a taxpayer with 30 percent of this now worthless stock I believe we are all entitled to this info.
Worked for them back in the 80s in Jersey what a great job.
He's got the People's Eyebrow
Yellow is beneath union standards. I’m glad it’s over. I did 11 years it was declining the day It turned over to yellow. Was hired new Penn first.
Yellow always looked orange to me!
I am curious. If all terminals are supposed to be gated and closed.... How are they reporting from the terminal?
When Kroger Co closed their distribution center in Grand Rapids, no driver received any pension money.
That's awful
When whirlpool moved to Mexico all employees lost their pensions
What did the Union do with All that Money that they had built up to pay the pensions?
Same for Indianapolis Indiana!
@@daveclark8337pocketed it along with our corrupt gooberment
It'll be okay fellas there's plenty of other jobs out there where you can work 70 hours and 8 days and get paid for 40
Ain't that the truth. Sucks.
That’s trucking folks.. Company’s don’t last forever! And the drivers had plenty of warning!
No it's not trucking! This is what you call money laundering and wire fraud committed by our gooberment and the uppers in this company! THE exact same thing happened to Celadon too! The higher up stole all the money from the company and it went bankrupt! Mr thinks he knows it all!
So our government took our tax money without our permission and gave it to a failing company and now that company is bankrupt?? When do we the people start getting to decide were our money goes because I remember the government bailing out banks and that money went to the hire ups for them to retire and everyone else who lost there retirement was sh%$ out of luck.. getting pretty tired of this.. 😡😡
People blame the Teamsters, but nobody forced Yellow executives to sign the union contracts.
Being the cheapest shipper with the worst service wasn't a good business model.
wasnt the union pay, it was the executives borrowing money cheap and giving themselves the money in bonus payments. Now the loan comes due so they file bankruptcy and blame the union which is traditional.
So if the Union would have conceded on wages or benefits would those drivers still have jobs?
No the company was mismanaged and the drivers already were the lowest paid ltl drivers in the industry. I could honestly make same $ as a receiver somewhere no need for cdl hazmat pee tests too.
the Union took a 15% pay cut and a Pension contribution cut back in 2010...
Union did all they could to help. Union accepted reductions in wages. This is truly about Poor Management, btw the Management still got theirs…
No. I understand they've filed bankruptcy
@@improvisedsurvival5967
I don’t intend this question to be argumentative but inquisitive, if someone is the lowest paid in the industry, why not find new employment? I have moved a couple of times due to pay. Does the union restrict movement to other employers? Respectfully
Your federal government keeping unemployment down. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Damn, that’s tough. They should’ve gotten health coverage for the remainder of the year . Hopefully a nice severance package too
Pull themselves up by the boot straps. Why should they get anything? Companies close all the time.
Companies also don't pay into pensions quite a lot, pollute hazardous materials trying to git caught, and have CEO's taking large percentages of the profit.
@@smokingjoe9864 Top management will get golden parachutes. How about the men and women who devoted 20 to 30 years to Yellow Freight. Don't they deserve some type of severance package. Your statement proves how ignorant you are.
God Bless the drivers and i hope the union took care of all the contributions made by the company for the members.
They didn't...
Not likely!
The Union squanders the money, it's already gone.
Keep paying those Union dues! Smh..
How will this increase prices for shipping if ABS takes it over? I’m just confussed?
What is going to happen to the 30% stake that the Fed. Gov. has in this company??? Another good question is how much will the CEO and the senior executive team be compensated. the American people need to make sure that "WE" are paid back for the funds we put in to this company
Usually the government would be second in line after payroll but then this happened under Trump so who knows.
I'm feeling for you Tom S. a dispatcher I had in 1991 at JHT when you left for Yellow more money. Sorry to hear
I was a salesperson for a trucking company (CF and ANR) many, many years ago. We had Teamster drivers. A blind man could see the demise of the unionized LTL (less than truckload) carriers, Yellow being one of them. Non-union trucking companies simply have significantly lower costs and certainly a more flexible workforce. Union carriers like Yellow are like dinosaurs in a modern world. Sorry for the workers but it is/was just a matter of time before Yellow became extinct.
Very true! Thanx for telling it like it is. People need to understand that Unions destroy jobs, all while they continue on with their luxury lifestyles and couldn't care less about you!
Non union carriers usually have methheads as drivers who couldnt get a union job because they couldnt pass the drug test. Lots of loads were stolen and sold for drugs.
@@davenone7312 Saw this firsthand with the Carpenters union back in early 2000's. They don't give a crap about rank and file, but you better be current on your dues or your SOL.
You ever notice when people begin to rant? It's like they forget how to spell, lose track of the conversation, and sound just plain stupid. Their argument falls apart, because of the non-sensible ignorance that pervades America.
What are you an English teacher? Stfu! Who cares how they spell while ranting! Are their posts a job resume or legal document,no, so stfu! They are getting the message across and that’s all that matters!
Some other ltl companies are doing good without a union. RL is a good company to work for
Yellow was having financial issues before RL existed
Unions need to take full responsibly for this! They waged and benefitted these people right into unemployment!
No they should not. That company has been foundering for decades. The union agreed to wage and pension freezes for years so Yellow could get their act together. How much more do you want the employees to give? The government gave them $700M and they fumbled that as well. It’s upper management who destroyed that company.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Yellow has been mismanaged for years. They took over various trucking companies that destroyed Yellow such as Roadway and various USF trucking companies. Management was clueless on how to run a trucking company. I have been a sales rep for various trucking companies for years. I was offered a job as a Sales rep for Yellow Freight in February of 2022. Friends of mine who worked there at the time told me not to take the job because Yellow was the Titanic and the women and children were on the Lifeboats. I am so thankful I stayed where I am. Top management will be going out with a golden parachute. Stop blaming the union. On a side note unfortunately I am not a union member.
You obviously are jealous
Do you know anything about what you are talking about sir? We get paid reasonable wages and set standards for trucking company wages.
Yellow was getting 1 year of service per 4 years time. It's wasn't the union . Miss management is the problem union busters. Just like corn flake. I'm sure you have no idea.
The laid off people need to stay together to weather the rough days ahead.
All the Executives, CEO need to have any & all compensation seized. Bankruptcy; I really think that the Teamsters & Members have an opportunity to make YELLOW an Employee Owner Business & save jobs & working families.
Bill Zollar started Yellow Freight demise years ago. The plan now is build up non-union carrier Saia? This way, there is no constrictive contract and more flexibility to the customers' needs.
I remember when Branch trucking used to be everywhere, gone as well
Only going to get worse
In Canada , you don’t need a job to have Health Care.
True enough, except the Provinces now underfund the systems so if you need to see a doctor it takes six months. Not much of a benefit, now is it? You can thank the successive incompetent governments for that. Canadians just love incompetence; it is the national way. A good reason to leave.
Yeah and try and see a specialist in less than 6 months, last time i checked the population of All of Canada was less than the state of California
The writing has been on the wall for months, if they are suddenly without a job, that is on them. Everyone and their mother has been saying they run out of money in August. It's August, they ran out of money.

Plenty of now hiring signs. He'll be fine😊
Cheap freight equates to truckin’ for fun and truckin’ for fun doesn’t last long. How is the IBT going to replace the revenue stream (dues) of 22,000 drivers? I’m guessing teamster leadership salaries will decrease proportionally to the dues revenue they just lost with this closing? Last time I checked, unions don’t produce/manufacture anything; or, provide any service that generates the revenue needed to operate their business -- yes, the IBT is a business and without members their business will eventually fail too. Check off is easy money until members no longer have checks.
What is theTeamsters union doing now to help their members now that they've run another company out of business?
Is that Russell Wilson brother
Can I pull up and drift my car in their lot now? 🤔
While 33 thousand Yellow employees are looking for jobs CEO Darren Hawkins is some were in the Caribbean spending money that he took from Yellow.
Remember Arrow Trucking that just abandoned their people around the country? at least that did not happen.
Teamsters and their members can start their own trucking company.
Yellow should start a new company without Unions.
No non-Union trucking company should hire ex-Teamster union workers. These are tainted workers.
And just how tainted are we? Many of us are regarded as "the best in the business".
So whats the pont if being unionized I gave up the union fifteen yeras ago just another job
That two trailer trucking man would be a great fit at UPS.
Depressing for everyone !
Hell no I’m celebrating 🥳 it’s over finally

This is the story of ALL trucking companys. America is uninsurable😂🎉
Maybe ask the shareholders politly to reduce their demands. There's enough to go around if you aren't too greedy.
Where's the money???
Move forward!!!!!!!
Wait so I thought there was a shortage of Truck drivers. That’s all I’ve heard since the pandemic
Theres a shortage of everything because then they can get people to work extra for free.
now they are saying layoffs.....
Layoffs? Wtf, YELLOW folded... 30,000 LOST their jobs!

If your name is Yellow and your logo is orange, you had it coming. That's just wrong.
Can’t the government just bail them out?? I mean!!

I'm sad and don't like, because, when the company declared bankruptcy, now the market it's bad, wait, management will get big money, but the hard working people, Nothing, truck drivers will have a hard time finding another job, with the wages, they need, on today's economy, last July jobs report, below 200,thousand, the economy is going down hill.
It was easy for companies to pocket pademic money without helping the employees.
Dont blame trump
FedEx Freight next
My company is the same thing but we DON"T have a union, and we are thriving.
They were garbage when they bought out Roadway !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Truck companies almost always hire drivers. They'll find a new job no problem
True but also understand that the pay for a lot of other jobs isn't very high and the benefits and hours aren't great either!
IDK about that. American Trucking Association’s (ATA) monthly index continues to stay below pre pandemic levels and demand for freight, and cost of fuel and materials rising. A lot of companies aren't hiring or trimming more of their workforce.
You're crazy! You have illegals coming in like crazy taking truck driving jobs and can't even read or write English but some how can pass a cdl test! You people are so caught up in your fairytale world its literally lunacy!
@@jacksonwhittier3646 Ah bullcrap. Lot of these companies have hiring bonuses and hiring incentives to attract new drivers. If you wanna work, there's work. Companies can't afford to be that picky anymore. Pay up, or I won't work for you. That's the new worker attitude.

Those who want to continue driving will likely earn less somewhere else, but drive much better equipment. People have no idea how a day's work in a state of the art truck pounds the body. The Yellow trucks were old & decrepit.
