One small thing Reload does better than the others is the cutaway to Ikutsuki's reaction to Thanatos; it shows he's more stunned than the others- given he recognizes it as Death.
Original is still the best by far, the silence and heart beat as everything slows down around Makoto until he finally pulls the trigger and then the way Thanatos just rips open Orpheus like a feral animal was insane on the first playthrough.
@@insertnamehere1398Yeah, like I prefer the actual awakening in the original, prefer Yukari in Reload, and I like the Thanatos part about equally in both. So I'd say it balances out, with the original being just a tiny tad better, but the scene in Reload is still amazing, and I can't wait to get my hands on Persona 3 Reload.
I appreciate how in the movie Orpheus actually does something. Don't think casting a bunch of Agi and setting fire to the dorm roof was the best play, but it was more than screaming before getting ripped open by Thanatos. I'm also impressed by how much body and facial animation Reload managed to cram into this scene. You can really feel exactly what everyone is thinking in every action. Too bad Thanatos doesn't seem nearly as brutal in Reload despite ostensibly doing all the same stuff as in FES.
I miss the ambiguity to the original scene. The rapid flashes, close cameras, the Evoker in the blood, the background being white to focus on the action… and that moment of impact from the evoker being a single frame of impact. Everything was very deliberate, it’s not supposed to be an epic scene, it’s the act of instinct and the chaos of the unknown setting in. Something I especially miss is the Protag’s blank-grey eyes, which in turn make the bright blue shining light much more distinct.

I feel like not enough people give credit to how P3P handled it. they were able to work with what they had and make something that, although the most visually inferior, was able to convey the feeling of the original cutscene very well, considering the hardware. honestly prefer it to P3R’s because that one felt intentionally felt intentionally dumbed down.
I honestly like the extra details they added in the movie, like the little hesitant fumble Yukari makes when reaching for her evoker, the Shadow choosing to ignore MC and slowly turn to go finish off Yukari, MC being a bit more expressive showing his fear and concern for Yukari, the acceptance of death that washes over him before he pulls the trigger. OG slaps in part due to the prolonged silence and how simple but effective it was at conveying the intensity of the moment. But I can see why Reload copied the movie version, a lot of those extra details are really sweet and make it feel more real in some ways.
In my opinion, remake developers made Awakening in Reload averaged between all previous versions. The driving soundtrack and script basis of the original P3, the general direction of the scene, its high quality and budget from the first film, the use of a cutscene on the engine instead of the anime from Portable. From Reload, the scene contains water motifs (bubbles instead of glass fragments, water reflections on Orpheus and Thanatos) and a more mobile camera, as if synchronized with the movements of the characters (Thanatos especially) in the style of the film Upgrade (2018). Yes, the new version may lack the crazy drive of the anime (after all, hand-drawn animation has huge advantages that 3D graphics are not capable of conveying), but it was able to pull me in and feel the adrenaline boiling inside. Especially at the moment when Thanatos cuts the Shadow's mask. It was spectacular.

Reload instead, Thanatos appeares but in a more "elegant" way, tooks even more time just to pull out his sword, then for some reason waits 3 seconds doing nothing and then goes to kill the enemy.
personally I prefer the original to the movie the movie one looks much more like a modern anime, while the original has more of a hand drawn early 2000s look, which is just more appealing imo portables is the worst, and reloads is pretty decent but I still prefer the original
Gonna be honest, I like P3P's Thanatos *kill* more. The rapid bludgeoning makes it feel like an animal. That said, the others do literally everything else better, including stuff with Thanatos. Wish Reload had its Yukari, FES' Hesitation and rapid cuts, maybe the movie's use of Orpheus, maybe not, Fes' thanatos scenes, and when it comes to finally killing the shadow, P3P's bludgeon.
I think the OG had the strongest shot of the Evoker going off, but I feel that the movie's take on Thanatos appearing was just SO GOOD. Reload was clearly trying to emulate the movies, but it honestly just comes off as a cheap imitation.
I think the original is the best, then the movie, reload then portable. I think the whole scene is just layed out better in the original, in terms of timing, the scene order, the different shots, ya the movie had better visuals objectively, the original I feel has so much flair and eye catching shots that I can’t not love it more I like the direction reload went, I think the dialogue is better in the original tho, and the animation looks goofy as hell, ruins a lot of tension for me, I wish they didn’t move so damn much and actually maintained balance, it’s like how you see spider man acting, but he acts that way cause he is in a suit with no eyes or mouth, so they have to do a lot of physical acting, here it looks off Portable’s is garbage tho, genuinely made me wanna cry when I first saw it, very pathetic
@@TheBirdsDenAt last in the movie Orpheus was in fact able to put up a fight. In the game he's like "Hi im your Pers- *GETS FUCKING OBLITERATED BY THANATOS* "
I liked reload version's more if im being honest lol i only ever played p3 portable and the others are stiff due to it being dated, the movie one is decent but reload is so pretty with the colors too.
Yeah, I gotta agree. Do forgive me for how this may sound, but honestly, the people saying that others dislike one scene out from a pretty stellar game because of 'nostalgia blindness' are kind of just as bad as the people getting mean and harassing others for liking reloaded. I've seen plenty of comments from other comparison videos (including this one) of people who like the reloaded version of Thanatos awakening, but have understandable criticisms of it, like Thanatos sounding rather quiet and a bit of awkward animation here and there, as well as some comments who do like the original but admit that reloaded did do some things right (like Yukari's hesitance, Ikutsuki's reaction, etc). It's not as black and white as they think it is.
A lot of people in these comments are acting as if the good sound direction and feeling of the fes version excuses the REALLY REALLY stiff animation in most of the fes version, it doesn't it looks janky and the way Yukari is sent flying is weird, the only thing that gets any proper movement is Thanatos, which mind you is great. Also lets face it the atmosphere these scenes (and most of p3's anime scenes) dont match the actual tone of the game most of the time. That being saidthe fes version is still decent but I wouldnt put it above the movie nor the Reload versions, which animate Magician far better, alongside Thanatos and the rest. The only version thats actually bad is p3p, but well nothing you can do there.
Cause Fes is the best one. Fluidity and pure animation quality is secondary to framing, posing, scene composition and choreography. None of the other versions hit for the tone of the scene quite as much as FES in those 4 aspects.
@@alphax-shroom6781 What choereography, everyone stands there and doesn't move also the fact that you can brush off all the other stuff just shows your not being objective. Good tone doesnt excuse an otherwise bad production.
The movement may look janky but the shots are way better and the colors are really striking, making the mood of the CG way more tense and darker for the build up. It shows what it needs to show, basically. Reload's animation looks way jankier in comparison because it shows _way too much_ and the 3d simply dosen't look as good as the stylized 2d of the original. Also wdym they don't match the tone of the game most of the time? That's a weird point to just throw out there without any elaboration, especially taking into account we're talking about one scene in specific and not the rest of the games
Reload manages to be worse than the original and it's not close. It takes cues form the movie, and I think that makes it worse, such as the shadow turning to attack Yukari, which I don't think is necessary, and the less satisfying animation of Thanatos. And of course, the fact that it isn't animated. I'm not sure if I like the movie one or the reload one better, but at least they're both way better than portable
So many of the shots linger for seconds longer than needed too, so it feels less punchy. It also seems like they lowered the music volume, so the whole cutscene is quiet and awkward. All that, and the way Yukari just gets bitch slapped and how the shadow stands around in front of them for 10 seconds.
They have too many wide shots, the og cutscene is very conservative with the wide shots having mainly closed shots and only using wide shots for striking moments. Wide shots are normally very flat and boring if you don't have a good direction, which is a problem with a lot of anime and 3d animation.
The Thanatos ripping out of Orpheus scene in Reload just looks too much like Skibidi toilet animation to me idk I can’t bring myself to like it 😭the rest is fine I just feel the 2D animated versions had more room for creative animation like that
Something i dont get is, Yukari treatment. In FES she pulls the trigger twice and gets off 2 Garus. Yuki sees that and thats how he gets the idea of how to use the evoker. But every other version has yukari fail to cast anything, making her look worse and having yuki use the evoker seem more random.
That’s what’s happening? I couldn’t even tell, it looked more like the shadow attacking than Garu Fes animation is great but in reload and the movie it’s a lot easier to tell what’s actually happening which I appreciate lol
Good lord, was the original cutscene hard to follow! And I'm already enough of a scatterbrain as is, but watching the original summoning is like watching a Michael Bay movie IN REVERSE!! Fes, stop the ride, I wanna get off!
Woah, I hadn't play in the FES version, once tried the portable one which is available on PC, but I get it right it's not playable on modern PC. What a downgrade comparing with the FES.
the "bonus" clip shown is apparently from a work in progress mod made purely from the fans that aims to recreate all the cutscenes from FES, but for the FEMC with appropriate changes accordingly (such as the love hotel scene and the beach segment where u meet aigis) release date to my knowledge has yet to be disclosed however
Yeah same (new fan to get the people who say it’s just nostalgia away) played portable in anticipation for reload and honestly the vast majority of the original Va’s and soundtrack sound better to me, the cutscenes and gameplay are better in reload (albeit if the cutscenes are 2D some of the 3D like this one are kinda worse as well)
As much as I like the original version and think that it captures the very nature of not only Thanatos but the Protagonist, I really love the Reload iteration. We need to remember that it’s a nearly 20 years old game that was launched in different era and this franchise was not as easily accessible to masses as it is today. Depictions of suicide & mental health issues and violence are now more widely discussed although it’s still a very dark topic. A lot of people who have no idea about this franchise will be getting into this game so that’s why some of the aspects of it needed to be “toned down” (example Thanatos looking less aggressive) to appeal to the wider audience. I understand that and agree with that approach. I also agree with statement that Reload is a balanced mix of all versions.
Reload feels like a worse version of the movie. They should've just went 2D if they wanted to replicate everything 1:1. Or incorporate things from the portable version. Movie ver doesn't hit the same in 3D.

the movie one looks much more like a modern anime, while the original has more of a hand drawn early 2000s look, which is just more appealing imo
portables is the worst, and reloads is pretty decent but I still prefer the original
Wdym how can you not love Thanatos beating the shit out of the shadow
Gonna be honest, I like P3P's Thanatos *kill* more. The rapid bludgeoning makes it feel like an animal. That said, the others do literally everything else better, including stuff with Thanatos.
Wish Reload had its Yukari, FES' Hesitation and rapid cuts, maybe the movie's use of Orpheus, maybe not, Fes' thanatos scenes, and when it comes to finally killing the shadow, P3P's bludgeon.
Man the original is still the best.
They tried translating it into 3D with Reload but it just doesn't nail the same feeling.
2:34 me trying to wiggle out a shirt that's now too tight for me
Thanatos just glitching back into orpheus in the original gave me chills
The original is the best but reload is a very close second
I was hoping the magician shadow was gonna be a tutorial boss not a cinematic
I think the OG had the strongest shot of the Evoker going off, but I feel that the movie's take on Thanatos appearing was just SO GOOD.
Reload was clearly trying to emulate the movies, but it honestly just comes off as a cheap imitation.
I will never get why they based the reload one on the movie one instead of fes..
When you summon a level 80 persona at level 1
Where did the blood came from in original?????😱😱😱😵😵🥶🥶🥶💀💀💀💀💀
Virgin Reload < Chad Original
I think the original is the best, then the movie, reload then portable.
I think the whole scene is just layed out better in the original, in terms of timing, the scene order, the different shots, ya the movie had better visuals objectively, the original I feel has so much flair and eye catching shots that I can’t not love it more
I like the direction reload went, I think the dialogue is better in the original tho, and the animation looks goofy as hell, ruins a lot of tension for me, I wish they didn’t move so damn much and actually maintained balance, it’s like how you see spider man acting, but he acts that way cause he is in a suit with no eyes or mouth, so they have to do a lot of physical acting, here it looks off
Portable’s is garbage tho, genuinely made me wanna cry when I first saw it, very pathetic
Movie > OG > Reload > Portable
you are insane if you think the movie version is better.
@@TheBirdsDenAt last in the movie Orpheus was in fact able to put up a fight. In the game he's like "Hi im your Pers- *GETS FUCKING OBLITERATED BY THANATOS* "
@@ZA-TRUE-ZA-WARUDO I fail to see how that has anything to do with anything but sure, go off.
@@TheBirdsDen what type of meth do you use? 💀
@@TheBirdsDen i think its better because of that.
Reload is brilliant, but I like original
My personal favorite is the movie version.
The Remake tries to Replicate the Movie a bit more than just the game what with how they animated Thanatos ripping out of Orpheus
To me, movie has the best pathos hands down
RU gonna do Episode Aigis/The Answer comparison too?
@@JohnLee-dp8ey they’re already all up on my channel
I liked reload version's more if im being honest lol i only ever played p3 portable and the others are stiff due to it being dated, the movie one is decent but reload is so pretty with the colors too.
All versions are very GOD. Dont fight
I love og awakening persona 3/fes and the movie
😮😮😮😮😮 is there a female version of the movie? How? Or is this fan made? So cool!
It's fan made for a mod in the making that's gonna add animated CGs into Portable.
映画版の映像化が良すぎてところどころリロードに逆輸入されてますやん
I do really like way Yukari grabs her evoked and shakes around with it. It’s immaculate But that’s the best I can say aboutnit
Straight to the point unlike the anime which stays more than it really needs to just for spectacle
@@insertnamehere1398
Yes.
The Thanatos ripping out of Orpheus scene in Reload just looks too much like Skibidi toilet animation to me idk I can’t bring myself to like it 😭the rest is fine I just feel the 2D animated versions had more room for creative animation like that
The original is still the best to me, Reload unfortunately isn't as impactful IMO.
Yea Reload is by far the best 🔥
OG is the best overall, Reload is close, Film is pretty decent, and Portable's would've been better it it was stuck on the PSP lol
I couldn’t even tell, it looked more like the shadow attacking than Garu
Fes animation is great but in reload and the movie it’s a lot easier to tell what’s actually happening which I appreciate lol
No, it's the Magician Shadow attacking. You can tell by the same attack appearing before Yukari is knocked down.
She never cast anything fym?
Thantos animation in reload after breaking Orpheus felt kind of choppy, idk, everything else was smooth though
Apparently they lost the code for FES...
the "bonus" clip shown is apparently from a work in progress mod made purely from the fans that aims to recreate all the cutscenes from FES, but for the FEMC with appropriate changes accordingly (such as the love hotel scene and the beach segment where u meet aigis) release date to my knowledge has yet to be disclosed however
My honest opinion:Persona 3 original version has the best performance and voice acting.
Lol. It doesn't
@@obarasama
It does.
"Original still the best☝️🤓"
YES! YES! YES!
Reload feels like a worse version of the movie. They should've just went 2D if they wanted to replicate everything 1:1. Or incorporate things from the portable version. Movie ver doesn't hit the same in 3D.
You know, Reload's may be bad, but I forgot just how horrible the portable version was
Nostalgia pilled people here will actually say the original does it better. Simply crazy to me
Bruh
I have to say this, and I might get hate for this... That's what persona 5 did SO MUCH BETTER, than persona 3 & 4... They game just goes on... Without really saying "holy shit! You have multiple personas" persona 5... You team was surprised... And that's why I love persona 5 & royal so much... The core gameplay isn't just their... It's apart of the story.
& Yes, you can argue in persona 3 they knew from the beginning because, of Thanatos coming from Orpheus... But to me that's just lazy & not the same feeling...
Persona 4 didn't even bother mentioning it, just "you wield the power of persona"...
Persona 3 mentions it quite a bit
And this is how you know the only persona game he played is 5 😆😆😆
@@crowkoraki6910 I played the others, I just don't remember them saying It in persona 3 & 4 if it was said.
They are on my channel... I haven't played reloaded yet, but I will soon.
@@crowkoraki6910 if you read my comment... I even explained why I don't agree with how persona 3 "supposibly" said it...
P5 dosen't mention the wild card as much either. It gets brought into question like, once, during the tutorial portion where Morgana and Ryuji find out about it, then later on as an excuse to let you go alone into the colosseum in Sae's palace. That's it really.
Reload is really trash… yikes
portable is the worst persona game ever
