I have a .5 year old mallard xl I love it. Im on the smaller side 5’3” abd 110bs so the lightweight helps. I have a 3.5 merc 4 stroke on it and its the limit, tracking is ok paddling one person it does tend to side to side. its better if you sit in the middle more helps stop that. And for the bow I just add a rock.
I’d be interested in a comparison to the Mallard XL. Esquif makes great canoes, thanks for sharing!

A dry bag with water in it up front might be more stable ballast.
Can it be outfitted with oars?
Not sure. They have some wider models that might be a better match for oars.
I like it
Can it be paddled effectively?
It’s super light, so two paddlers working together would really make the Mallard move.
I own one just like that. but wider at the stern and 3 seats.
😤 mph? I want my waterbourne vessel speeds in knots, dammit! 😤
