Skil 40V Chainsaw Review | Perfect for Storm Prep and Yard Cleanup

- When our friend Eli Mosley needed a saw for tree work, we thought it might be the perfect chance to see the Skil PWRCore 40 chainsaw in action. We had some not-so-light oak to cut and used it put the Skil 14-inch bar and chain through its paces.
We really like the Skil PWRCore 40V chainsaw for homeowners who want a battery-powered saw and don't require the cutting performance of more powerful and expensive tools. If your main objective is tree limbing or storm prep and cleanup, this Skil 40V chainsaw makes an excellent choice. - Навчання та стиль
Using this saw right now. The review was helpful. Thanks!!! Cutting down a tree with chain link fence intertwined. What a bi**h!!! My only grip is every 45 minutes I need to stop and recharge the battery. This saw is getting the job done. Just slow to go.
Thanks Kenny.
I see those Hart tools back there!
Can it ✂ a 🌳 that's 19 inches in circumference?
What kind oil does it take
I wish you would have done an more indepth review, and how to lock the bar and to tighten up the chain. I have had a Kolbalt 12 inch, and I am having issues with it and looking to replace it. I just don't want the same thing happen with the new one.
you can probably get the skil for 120 or less new
so almost 90% charge in 45 minutes?
I want to buy the skil volt, friend, is it good or bad? What does he say, it would be a good or bad purchase?
Hi you didn't mention which oil can use for this chainsaw same like skil guid book which didn't came with oil thanks
It just takes your standard bar and chain oil.
Good review. My questions are about the battery life. Has anyone had this long enough to know if the battery last longer than many of those you buy today like Riobi ? The other thing, can anyone tell what the replacement battery cost ?
The Skil 2.5AH battery sells for about $80. The 5AH battery sells for $150 to $170. The 2.5 is often discounted on eBay because sellers buy the kits and part them out. . But buying a discounted (or used) 5AH is nearly impossible. I, July 2021, I nabbed one, barely used, on eBay for $112. A few days later, an eBay seller listed three 5AH batteries, new, for $125 each.
@@PaulStregevsky thanks, seems like what you buy when you buy one of these is the battery. Everything else comes along for the ride.
@@captinbeyond and it sucks. I'd rather use the larger battery with the chainsaw, pole saw, and blower-- not just for more run time, but for more oomph because there's less voltage sag. And who needs three chargers?
Bought 3x 2A batteries for 25€ on sale (around 30$)
How do u unlock the lock bar ?
pull it back toward engine.
Been looking for a cordless chainsaw
There's a ton of good ones to choose from nowadays. I have the DeWALT XR 12". I pre-ordered the Makita 18v 10" top handle saw originally but it became back ordered so I picked up the DeWALT in the meantime and I've gotten a ton of work done with it. And it's fairly old by comparison. EGO (SKIL'S big brother) makes excellent OPE. Unless you're going to pick up a string trimmer and/or a lawn mower to go with your chainsaw, I'd look hard at the 18v/20v tool companies for a chainsaw. That way you have reciprocity between batteries and chargers.
Kobalt's 24v chainsaw is very compelling and a good price! Their blower and string trimmer are also very good performers at a good price. Own several of their tools as well. Kobalt is made by Chervon as well. Same as SKIL and EGO.
Need makita to make a 40volt one 🤤🤤🤤
Lowe’s has this on sale for 149.00 until 01APR2023
It’s a great saw.. just as any saw would be if you see it cutting through stuff.. BUT THE PROBLEM IS….. I only get about 20 minutes of battery life. Thankfully I have two batteries but it’s more exhausting to have to run back and forth charging the batteries! Oh well.. why complain I still have a gas powered saw! I’ll save the electric saw for quick emergency’s.
this is why i switched to kobalt i love the saw but i can get a replacement for kobalt for $30-$50 these are wayy too much for a electric saw
any way to get the oil to pump out faster?
Don't know... I don't believe so.
Love mine !
What type of oil does it use?
My bar tightening thingy quit working. Buyer be warned.
They should call it the "Wallet eater".......look at the price of batteries before buying.
Everybody always says "3/8 pitch"; when they are NOT! They almost always are 3/8"LP! Which is a different size.
It's not just you; most reviewers make this mistake.
They/you; may correct themselves later in the video; but act like the designations are interchangeable; when they are not.
Not the best review.
