So many - SO many famous musicians since the late 70's, many of whom were/are considered to be the master-class of rock and other genres, have cited KISS as the main influence in their starting in music. Whatever aspect of the band it was that motivated the greats of 80's, 90's, 00's... that is a clear example of iconic. I was an early fan up until the Elder. After that, I had moved on to lots of other musical styles. But it's really hard to think of any other band that gave so much to the audience when you went to see them live. I understand that, in recent years, there's been a question of 'live'. It's a huge disgrace what has happened to live performance and even recorded music in the past couple of decades. I can only wonder that soon, no one will have the slightest idea what a true live performance is supposed to be if called "live". A meme I saw recently was of a guy on stage with a macbook in front of a crowd - caption read; "come see my laptop LIVE!". Would that that was only just a funny joke. Alas, it is not. Now we are getting hologram shows. Absolutely NOTHING live about that. Why would ANYONE ever pay money to go see a stage show that is nothing more than what they could download on their computer for pocket change (or free)? Autotune. Autotime. Autopitch. Autoperformance. Automusic. Who needs talented musicians or singers any more?
I enjoy Kiss’ music quite a lot, and have been to see them 5 times and loved it. I can be a fan of the band and still acknowledge that Paul and Gene have had a history of some serious greedy, douchebag moves
Seems to me that Gene Simmons has a bad habit of putting his mouth in motion before putting his brain in gear. I thought his statements regarding depression, suicide & mental illness were offputting & unnecessary. He's never learned that money makes a great servant, but a lousy master (I'm paraphrasing) What a schmuck!
PS: Just a thought - I've heard it said that the love & adoration fans give rock & roll bands is as potent as any street drug - maybe more so. This would partially explain why some bands keep performing, even when it's obvious that they should've hung it up long ago.
This is why you don't help ppl., especially bands that are starting out. Same thing happened to few ppl. that helped out Motley Crue in the early stages. Once they gotten signed to Electra, they were dropped and never were seen again.
I am so happy to have lived through and loved KISS from their inception until their end. We have a 3 generation KISS loving family and have seen them live 11 times and I did meet Paul Stanley.
I had those comic books, but sold them on eBay when I retired and moved. I was a huge KISS fan when I was a kid in the 70s, but over time things changed. Their lineup kept changing, and they went on too long. My first concert was KISS/Plasmatics in 82 at Cobo Hall in Detroit. They had already replaced Ace & Peter. I saw them a few times before the original band got back together, and I was at the opener at Tiger Stadium in 96, then went to the show in Cleveland a few weeks later. But when I saw them in 2014, they looked like old men in drag. And they went another 10 years. They should have stopped with the makeup & outfits 20 years ago.
you don't show up to interview KISS or any band for that matter, wearing another band's T-shirt and expect it to go smooth. it's disrespectful and also shows a severe lack of common sense.
4:22 it’s funny they’re mad about an iron maiden shirt. Iron Maiden is a way better band than kiss. I do like a few kiss songs so I’m not a complete hater but iron maiden is a lot better.
Former KISS manager Bill Aucoin said later that the KISS blood actually went into 'Sports Illustrated' as the printing press was not set up to do the comic, but was in fact set up for that months issue of 'Sports Illustrated'.😂😂
Sounds like whoever wrote this, and/or narrated this, is either jealous or envious. If people choose to like and and follow KISS-that’s great. If you choose not to, that’s fine too. But how many musicians, actors, and/or artists-spoke or acted the same way? Everyone has the right to choose what they like, and don’t like. But, if you are going to point out the flaws and errors of KISS, you better point out the flaws and errors of every other band, actor, and artist. This story sounds like it is coming from a jealous, envious, person-who is upset that someone else became successful-even if you don’t agree with how they became successful.
