If they went for a more casual tone like with this trailer, an average day in the life of a cocky younger Solo, would have been fine, not every movie needs huge stakes.
Swaid honestly that’s what they kinda went for. The stakes at the end of the film were wayyyyy lower than any other Star Wars film and in my opinion it payed off big time. Solo wasn’t a super great film (good not great) but it was an amazing Star Wars film and is easily one of my favourites

Jayden Labadie I think the biggest issue with the spin-off movies is that Disney isn’t going all the way with them. I don’t want a bunch of “Star Wars” type Star Wars movies, I want new themes and genres explored in the SW universe! Imagine a Clone Wars movie shot like a dramatic war movie. Or a legit horror movie with those Geonosian brain invaders? Or an R rated action thriller with a Starkiller-like main character? (Or just straight up Starkiller, since the voice actor is also the face model)
Well that was the initial tone. Chris Miller and Phil Lord were brought on originally to direct and were fired because they were adding too much comedy and improv to it. 70% of their stuff was reshot by the second director. It really sucks honestly.

Jim Hogarth I was re-watching it and seeing all the comedy elements it’s actually a really funny movie they just try to cut over the Comedy parts overall I love seeing the darker areas in star-wars like gambling robot death matches lol The Kessel run it was kind of amazing to watch yong han! Not to mention him in the fucking war holy shit I love seeing the front line in Star Wars kind of like World War II trench fights it’s fucking beautiful

This... just legitimately works so well. It changes the trailer's tone to being something more lighthearted and fun. When you think about it, Han Solo was not really the badass of the group but more like the guy that made the films fun. It feels so much more fitting to his character that his movie would carry the tone of a space western, rather than something big, epic and serious... And this coming from what is essentially a really stupid song from star wars kinect. Amazing

Going from a sci-fi western comedy to a sci-fi crime film is a huge change, and changing that close to the end of the original production can cause it to not work as a film overall. I’m a fan of Ron Howard as much as most people (Apollo 13 is amazing), but I feel a super drastic change is not the way to go.

This breaks my heart. I honestly feel this should have been the real trailer. It would have definitely gotten some fans backs up but this is waaay better at selling the tone of the final product, goofy, silly, fun side story. Side note. Lord and Miller were apparently kicked for taking too many risks and messing with the formula of the franchise. I think this video proves that theres a not insubstantial number of fans who kinda want exactly that from star wars

There is a world where we got a silly, marvel-esque version of the Solo movie in the spirit of guardians of the galaxy actually featuring this song and it might honestly have been better than the original.
Would have been actually refreshing...idk if thats what the original directors had actually planned for this movie, and thats why Disney kicked them out, but if it was I can understand that full on comedy might have been hit or miss for many ppl, so it was too much of a risk. But if it was done the way Guardians of the Galaxy movies were, it could have really worked out.

WW2 has plenty of trench warfare involved, infantry and their self made fortifications don’t just disappear with the advent of the tank and air power.

Was apprehensive at first but after watching, I think this should have been the trailer. It's corny but it works very well. But they probably wanted to keep a serious vibe to the movie and keep star wars Kinect in the shadows where it should be
This is way better than the official trailer, because it gives it a sense of fun. It also highlights how grey and colorless the visuals are. Because that's how we like Star Wars to look - really drab and depressing....

Lyrics that are inspired by Norse mythology. It works better than MC Hammer which I wouldn't associate with Thor except for the hammer. At the end of the movie, the Asgardians are immigrants to Earth. Hence why Immigrant Song works.

This breaks my heart. I honestly feel this should have been the real trailer. It would have definitely gotten some fans backs up but this is waaay better at selling the tone of the final product, goofy, silly, fun side story.
Side note. Lord and Miller were apparently kicked for taking too many risks and messing with the formula of the franchise. I think this video proves that theres a not insubstantial number of fans who kinda want exactly that from star wars

There is a world where we got a silly, marvel-esque version of the Solo movie in the spirit of guardians of the galaxy actually featuring this song and it might honestly have been better than the original.
This makes me wish the movie was a full-on comedy.
Would have been actually refreshing...idk if thats what the original directors had actually planned for this movie, and thats why Disney kicked them out, but if it was I can understand that full on comedy might have been hit or miss for many ppl, so it was too much of a risk.
But if it was done the way Guardians of the Galaxy movies were, it could have really worked out.
