Andreas Nikolaus Lauda, known to the world as Niki Lauda was an exceptional racing driver, he remains the only driver in Formula One history to have won a championship for both Ferrari and McLaren. Moreover, he was also a brilliant aviation entrepreneur who founded and ran three airlines: Lauda Air, Niki, and Lauda. In a tragic nearly fatal accident, Lauda not only went into a coma but also had to undergo multiple surgeries.
Niki Lauda was born on 22nd February 1949 in Vienna, Austria, to a wealthy paper manufacturing family. His paternal grandfather was the famous Viennese-born industrialist Hans Lauda. Lauda became a racing driver despite his family's disapproval. After starting out with a Mini, Lauda moved on to Formula Vee, and then moved up, to drive in private Porsche and Chevron sports cars.
