Thanks for the reminder to backup my files on our home server. To organize my designs I will right-click my mouse and tag them to identify objects shown in the design. Thank for the videos.

Adding tags to the files is a great way to find them later. 😁 Thanks for sharing!

Excellent topic! This is the info. everyone needs but not many people get until it's too late. I fortunately live in a tech savy home where we back up computer files in multiple ways (I personally have my files on my desktop hard drive, an external hard drive, AND a local server in the house that does an auto-backup of all files on a set schedule). And I no longer let anyone (even family) borrow my computer! One day (~a decade ago) a visiting relative just needed to look up something on the computer and a couple days later I realized I had a virus on my computer locking up all my files so that I couldn't open them (unless, of course, I gave someone $$$). My spouse was able to stop the file corruption from continuing, but there was no way to get back the files it had already gone through. Now we have all the back-ups and only one specific (old laptop) computer that house guests can use, if needed.

You're really high-tech with your systems, Stephanie! Sorry to hear about the virus. But it just gives another example of how things can go wrong even when we're super careful. (and I like the guest login idea too!) Thanks for sharing! (◔◡◔)

Thank you for another great informative video. I just have to stay with the ol basic thumb drive. I don't have a lot of PC knowledge or saved embroidery files. Just doing a little home sewing now at 79 for my great grandkids. I do love all you teach and show me and have used so much of your information. BTW I do love my new and used multi spool holder for embroidery.

Thanks Sylviah! Your thumb drive is fine as long as you also have the files on your computer too. That's good enough!

I have designs on a little 4 gb memory stick, when the stick was nearly full I put it aside and went on with another memory stick, yesterday I went to the original memory stick and the memory stick won't work, not in the Brothers machine, not in my computer, the deigns are lost and gone, but wise me also put them on a 1 TG memory drive and they are safe there. It was a relief to find those designs on another drive. My advice is back them up two different ways on a stick that can go into the sewing machine, but also on a hard drive 1 TG or greater.

Great video. Unfortunately, iBroidery does not allow you to download the Disney designs I have purchased except directly to my Dream Machine which does not have a large memory capacity.

iBroidery is a WHOLE different ballgame with design downloads and I don't know of any other company that has that level of restrictions. ( ఠ ͟ʖ ఠ) Thanks for mentioning that because lots of people with Brother machines still buy from iBroidery for the Disney®️ licensed characters. (For anyone else reading this who is unfamiliar - only certain Brother machines can even purchase those designs from iBroidery and they require your machine's serial number just to make a purchase!)

I went to download a file from Etsy and they were no longer available store was closed. When started looking at my purchases I had a few embroidery files and sewing patterns no longer available. I backed up all my files on a large hard drive under a file Etsy original file. Then if I edit it I put under another file but always keep originals

I'd like to add another software organizer. It is from Kylie Belle and it uses Airtable. This is relatively inexpensive and she has good "how to".
