Folks going to complain about anything but THANK YOU for this video cause I couldn’t figure out how to get the box out after taking the filter out. I was scared I was going to break it. Thanks for the video!!
No hate. I appreciate the video, but two tips don't touch the glass lens of a halogen light bulb or in a few months you may notice it's burnt out. If you do touch the lens, get a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Clean it and let it dry before you plug it in. The oils from your hand will quite literally boil the element out of them. 2 Just put them in the housing to test. Otherwise stuff like that melted plastic will do the same and boil the element out of them.
Thanks man i couldn't figure out how to take off the filter box and this video helped me out , i don't have to go to the dealer for this and that is a good day on my book 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
i was at dealership to finally fix the recall from years ago and they said it would be close to $700 to replace bulb! Hopefully this video helps for us to replace it ourselves!
Dude it was a good how to, but you can't touch those bulbs glass at all with your skin. Yhe oil from you skin will shoot it soon. Plus, that air filter does need replaced. Other than that. Awesome. Glad I found it.
The gentleman in the video was explaining how hot the bulb gets when it's on. Wear latex gloves when replacing the bulb. When you get the housing open, the old bulb out, and are ready to put the new bulb in - put the latex gloves on before you take the new bulb out of the packaging. This will prevent you from transferring the oils on your fingers to the bulb. If you touch the bulb (intentionally or inadvertently), the bulb will heat any oils from your skin to a temperature so hot that it will pop the new bulb that you just spent all that time putting in. You can touch the bulb all you want/need to with the latex gloves on.
I just tried this and it seems to be working, Drill two 1/16" holes in a upward direction on each side of the clear lens at each corner. It lets it breath while not letting any water in. At least this will work until either light burns out and then you will not have any choice but to replace the whole assembly.
Ridiculous that we have to disassemble the whole airbox just to replabe a bulb. But thanks for the assistance! Edit: just did it. It should be criminal how difficult it is to change that bulb! WTF GM?! Driver side took 30 seconds. Took me 20 damn minutes to get the passenger side.
My SRX was like that. They wanted $400+ parts. Once I figured out how to do it, it was simple, and I just pulled the grill and loosened the top of the bumper.

Great video! Thanks for reminding us to test things before we re-install everything.

$700 for a frickin BULB???!!!?!?!
That price seems to be for OEM HID bulb replacement but similar process and bulb can be purchased online cheaper
great video. I watched outside the auto store. Appreciate you.

Great video. I just had to do this. Very helpful!

Thanks sir
Wish you showed the part number
Can you give us the bulb number to order online
What was the bulb number
H11

Thank you so much for this video! I changed out my driver side headlight and then got to the passenger side and almost gave up
I got the same Tahoe you had any issues out of yours ? I got 80k miles on mine
Always replace in pairs.
Why
Good job. But you aren’t supposed to touch the bulb with your fingers. The oils on you hands will make it die prematurely.
Didn’t know that. Thanks for the tip
Mine has these other bulbs inside of it. It's not a H11.
Big difference between changing a headlight BULB and changing a HEADLIGHT which is what your title says. Get it right!
Actually he’s right. He said light, not headlight assembly!
Did you sell this Tahoe?
I still have it
You know how to do that secondary, headlight… the light strip under it
U Kno that’s a good question.. I haven’t had to but I can make a video if u need me to
You can’t do the led strip. It is built in the headlight.
You can't, when that goes out you have to buy the whole headlight assembly
Damn, wrong video. I was looking for headlight replacement. Not headbulb replacement. My bad.
I put some led fogs in it was pretty easy
Shop told me they had 2 take the bumper off .. they lying
Yes they are lol. Definitely don’t have to do that lol
You have to take the bumper off to change the whole headlight assembly. Not if you're changing just the bulb
My SRX was like that. They wanted $400+ parts. Once I figured out how to do it, it was simple, and I just pulled the grill and loosened the top of the bumper.
