The reveal of the figure's surprised expression is hilarious. Maybe this is a rookie and there's an added deposit in the jumpsuit. Lol. Great video as always.
I had one of these back in the 80s! This was always my favourite Action Man figure due to a fascination with the SAS due to films and the Iranian Embassy Siege. Mine had the patterned flak jacket and carried the MP5 although it annoyed me a little that he carried a Colt 45 pistol (as far as i know the SAS used the Browning Hi Power handgun) My other fave was a self created Vietnam style US soldier with an M16 or M60 and Colt 45 pistol with a green flak jacket and i even drew and wrote on the green US style helmet. I also had a couple of great German baddies, one a German Storm Trooper and one a German General type. Action Man was always my all time favourite toy to play with as a kid, i loved how accurate and realistic everything was.
I also had a fascination with the SAS in the early 80s for the same reasons, so yeah, it was by far my favourite Action Man costume too. I think a lot of kids must've been, as I remember there was an official 1983 SAS annual which I had for Christmas that year, (that's how I always remember they used the Heckler & Koch and Browning 9mm), also there was an SAS kit in the catalogue which came with a woolen balaclava, toy MP5 and knife, compass etc. but unfortunately I never got that! 😄 Gutted!
@@TheRowlandstone73 I woulda LOVED that SAS annual! I did get a mid 80s military forces magazine so read all about the MP5/MP5K/MP5SD and that lovely Browning High Power, the SLR and the then brand new (and unfortunately cursed!) SA80 compared to the iconic AK47. All that news footage and weekend war films as a kid got me well into military small arms.
@@davekennedy6315 Was the magazine called 'The Elite'? I had a few issues of that. If I remember rightly it was a limited-run publication featuring a different Special Forces regiment each week.
Great looking re-issue, even if, as someone's already mentioned, I get strong TIE Fighter pilot vibes from the attack costume! Always loved the gas mask on the key figure, so not a big fan of the yellowed goggles on the later version. I think the clear lenses look so much better.
Thanks so much for the great review. This figure looks great! I have to get a hold of this for sure. The more I hear you talk about Action Man, the more I want to collect them. :) I thought about putting a clear plastic dome under the parachute and have it suspended from the ceiling. :) Thanks for the heads up on the parachute, If nothing else, I might put something in its place as a stand in if it's that hard to keep bundled up. Absolutely love it. Thanks for the video.
I do love those SAS uniforms but it is a shame that the products they remake never seem to live up to the originals. The shocked look on his face had me laughing hysterically 😂
Nice figure. I loved action man as a kid. I inherited a lot of my Uncle’s old 60’s action men. But equally, being a child of the nineties, had a lot of the nineties hasbro action men. Which were great with the green M16s, big K bar knives and the even bigger knife with the guard. I used to used the skydiver version that had the bright orange parachute and harness and mash it up with some proper older fatigues to make it look less like a nineties MTV skydiver and more like a parachute regiment officer or navy seal! 😂
As always another great video dave, gotta say i loved the 40th anniversary range and I wished I'd picked up more, I'm always hoping that modellers loft/did will regain the license and carry on where they left off.
Nice Action Man Action Figure Dave. I Like Action Man The British Version Of GI-JOE. I'am An American So I Didn't Have Action Man. Action Man Is Similar To The 1964's GI-JOE
I'm not sure. But we do give a lot of them to allies. And I imagine if they only got a handful, the SAS would be the ones to utilize them to their full potential (with them being special forces and all)
Hey Dave! I was wondering if you could add the sticker paper you use to the tools list. I have one option that is local. And it was only a few bucks but it's just too thick. I'll use it elsewhere.
Excellent review of a fantastic 40th Anniversary Action Man SAS figure and Parachute Attack set. It has to be noted that the 40th Anniversary Action Man outfits and accessories had to be labelled as modern recreations, because their quality means they can be easily mistaken for vintage Action Man. However, I have to say that the Eagle Eye heads do bother me and I much prefer the 40th Anniversary painted faces.
Hi Dave, Thank you for another great review. I have this set however the key figure in mine didn't come with a belt, ammo pouches, holster and colt. Were these items included in your set or have you sourced them from VAM?
This was the first time this box was opened so everything that was in there was as you saw it. Maybe they changed what was on the figure with different releases? 🤔
@@toypolloi that was my exact thought. Maybe the box set I have was an earlier one (it was purchased via Modeller'sLoft) or maybe someone in the factory simply forgot to put the belt and accessories in the box 🙈.

That was an awesome figure. When you removed his mask I wasn't expecting to see that. Lol. Those eyes... 😂
Another really fantastic review! I believe this is the most comprehensive look at this 40th Action Man set I have seen. Well done!👍
Hey Dave
My eyes would look like his as well..😉
Congrats on an awesome gift.
Take care of yourself.
Thanks Dave, what a fantastic re-issue. After 40 years of battle action I think my eyes would look like that too. 🙂
Got that 1,000 yard stare😂😂😂

He almost looks like a tie fighter pilot, how awesome would an Action man StarWars outfits be! 😎
I wonder why palitoy never managed to combine the two during their heyday.
Hasbro did eventually use the Hall of Fame 90s MAM body types for a Star Wars set, called Star Wars Collector Series.

Really cool. I only had GI Joe as a kid in the 90s and 00s
Nice! I wish I had one of the originals! What a great figure!
That sure does bring back some memories!! I would replace the clear hoses with some black rubber tubing!
Each outfit he wore went with the expression. He's like"oh my God" I'm in a parachute! Or "why am I under water???. I've gotta get one
Thanks so much for the great review.

Awesome action man mate

I'd be inclined to replace that o ring with elastic.
Yep. It doesn't work well at all currently. I will be upgrading this in future.
that face is very funny hahaha

They are really nice, so close to the originals. I have lots of 40th outfits in my collection and use lots of body parts to fix up old figures.

Hold on a minute... Dave ya vue ?
Yeah I know exactly what you’re talking about. Haven’t we seen this video before?
Did the SAS ever use an American style M16?
I'm not sure. But we do give a lot of them to allies. And I imagine if they only got a handful, the SAS would be the ones to utilize them to their full potential (with them being special forces and all)

No problem. I have added it. Cheers

Dave, the eyes may look less startled if you give him pupils with a Sharpie, I think that's not helping with the startled look?!
That's cool 😎
Very cool indeed👍🏻
Put a black dot for pupils on the new figure I noticed he didn't have any that's why he looks so weird. It will definitely change the the all face 👍🏻
They didn't have those originally. The pupil is a darker blue spot. He looks weird as the eye hole is much larger.
What a beautiful package and toy...
Boom!
