Every December growing up my mom put out ceramic house decorations and I would place my plastic army men in the villages they work good like a urban war zone
I have almost every version of the bucket of soldiers released for the movies, made a video on it a few years back. It’s fun seeing how the originals went from having generic army men to the current ones having army men that look exactly like they did in the movie. The Disney parks exclusive ones now have a broken injured soldier just like in the movie which I find unique
Hi, my enthusiasm for Army Men has recently been rekindled and I came across this video while doing some research. However, I am desperate to know that there are many different versions of the Army Men (since most of them are out of print). I have the 2017 version myself, but other than that I have no idea. Since you writing you have all versions,so can you tell me all their versions exactly? Thankyou
I was raised as an only child so I never had any brothers or sisters to play with but loved these toy soldiers. It was so much fun setting up intricate battles around the house, each with its own unique story. Felt similar to playing Dungeons & Dragons except with army men. Thanks for the video😊
When I was a kid my parents wouldn't really buy me any toys but anytime we went to the dollar store, she'd almost always let me buy one toy Cheap plastic army men were my favorite You could get so many toys to play with for the price of one Would come up with little strategy board games with them
Oh yes, my son absolutely loves them. He is 5 and sets up intricate battles in our rugs or wooden floors. Exactly as I did as a small child. Toy soldiers seem to be timeless for young boys. I admittedly still "game" with Napoleonics at a hobby shop. There is something about massed formations fighting battles that draw young men in. Hell, you can find pewter or tin soldiers that our forefathers played with in the 1800s. It's just timeless haha.
The Timme bazooka/rocket troops always made me chuckle after firing one of those myself. You can always tell the rookie by the ring around his eye. Haha
When I was a lil gal I had hundreds of these things. Variously from bucket o soldiers to the dollar store knock offs and tanks/planes/artillery included. I had a whole chest and got a pack every Christmas. My mom liked buying me the cheapy kind when they were just $2 for a whole pack. I would spend hours upon hours playing with them in the garden. My little green and tan wars were always complete with a flood from the dreaded hose! Of course right after they saved the Barbies and the Cabbage patch kid! These guys give me amazing memories. I even played all the videogames for N64 all the way up to PC days.
I had one of the 2017 ones long story short the parachutes got tangled and the soldiers scattered throughout various bins. Nice vid love your channel ❤
I love these army guys, such good quality. Disney merchandise is always such good quality, you can sometime come across an old toy that you haven't seen in 25 years in a box and get it out and it's as good as new. I like how they purposely make their products good quality, instead of designed to fall apart so you have to go out and buy a new one!
Ahhhhh, the memories. I've been feeling ill recently and you have brought such joy into my heart that has made me feel so much better. Thank you so much for this.
I still have a few of those army men in some drawers in my house. Back then I had boxes full of them. They were one of the protagonists of my childhood.
lmao the comment about the muzzles facing the ground vs being level and aimed at the enemy on the old vs new reminded me of being a little kid and bending the rifle barrel so it was aiming "forward" xDD
I just discovered this channel. Growing up, my favorite toy were plastic army men. I would spent hours and hours playing with these things. I had my parents buy my all different kinds of these. I have a couple buckets of those bucket o soldiers from 2008-2009 era as well. You just brought back so many memories for me. There was a third mold type for the bucket o soldiers. I’ll have to look for them when I go back to my parents house.
I remember when I was about 6, I caught the D-Day drop scene from Band of Brothers on TV and I would recreate it by holding this Lego plane I built over the stairs and then drop my green army guys with the parachutes from the side door.
This hits me right in the childhood lol XD these were my favorite toys… I would cry if one got broken, they were my favorite thing to play with and I would take them everywhere and played with them constantly I had a huge tub full and a gallon bag full of my favorites if we went to my grandparents they came with me, I set up battles everywhere and anywhere and could spend hours playing with them, those were simple times and the best of times
I got the 2010 release of the soldiers when I was a kid for my sixth birthday party! I still remember the smell of the soldiers when I opened the bin! True nostalgia
I don't think I ever had the Toy Story branded soldiers but I had so many of the generic green army men, they were some of my favorite toys growing up. Every Sunday when we went to shopping, my mom would get me a bag of them for a couple bucks. They also made plastic skeleton warrior armies. I used to have a giant toy Batcave and I would set up all my army men to guard the Batcave from the skeletons lol
For some odd reason, I’m strongly reminded of Steve the MRE Guy with how you were wondering aloud what the contents of the 1995 Bucket ‘O’ Soldiers smelled like. 😆
It's kinda sad to see how the modern molds have a lot less soldiers actually pointing there weapons and the dude swinging the overhead rifle doesn't even have a bayonet anymore.
For the number of sponsors on it, and all the licensing involved, the price is relatively cheap and makes you wonder why LEGO charges as much as they charge for smaller, less detailed models.
Wow, that was a shocker, themoment I saw those 1995 Army Men, I recognized them instantly - three of them were toys in my elementary school when I was a kid!
As a child, I used to play with both Green and Tan army men with some friends at the time a whole lot. We'd also get tanks, barriers, and flags. We had good at the time.
I had a identical bucket to this one growing up. As a kid for Halloween my parents would either let me keep my candy or trade it for cash, I remember the one time I did cash I got one of these and boy was I happy
I had some that were from the original manufacture when we got a dollar store in and second set I got it came with a tank and some things that look like the brown bag walls in that set, the second was not as good with the guys but the unique items was fun and made well. None of them had a parachute as that was a set where the guys were not the same size as the classic, they were slightly bigger in size. My brother also got somewhere on Vacation a USA 1800's after USA Civil war set and it was the same size as the WW2--Korean war Classic set .
As a kid I hated those downwards aiming riflemen. Well, most of this mold set wasn't for my taste, I liked Airfix knockoff WW2 soldiers more. The mortar men were the best ones of these, as most sets didn't have mortar. I used to mark on some soldiers, that weren't just shooting anything, a red cross on their helmets and those were medics. Ah, fun times.
@@CallofPlastic Nah, we don't have Walmart here in Finland. Those were from Halpa-Halli. The bag those came in was a thick plastic bag and on the top it had a cardboard with the faces of different nations soldiers, USSR, Japan, Germany, Brit etc. This was around late 90's - early 00's.
Shame we lose the flamethrower, machine gunner, and radio man because they weren't featured in the doorway scene, there's too many riflemen! No version of the bucket has ever given us a medic with a printed cross negative from the shot in the potted plant either Only ever seen in a squat kid's helicopter and a lego set, shame, it'd be quite a unique piece across all buckets of army men really
I remember playing with a bucket of army men, but I don't remember if it was toy story version or what, and I don't remember if my brother and I owned it, or if it was a friend. The 2017 ones looks so bad compared to the 1995.
As a bit of an enthusiast of older military uniforms, it is a bit disappointing to see the lack of detail in the field jacket pockets. However, I haven't watched the movie recently enough to comment on its accuracy.
There is another set of 95 out. They're like a yellow greand they got 72 soldiers in it too I want 2 pair tronce the binocular guy and I can't remember what the other one is I have hand but I want to get part of the s*** I don't got them all. If you ever could find the other one, let me know, and I'll buy it or I'll feel if you want.
I have some , Yellow blue Native Americans red plastic navtive American figures they’re just like the army man but they’re late 60s early 70s they’re my closet , some are valuable
Hey bill I would recommend reviewing 12 inch “click and play” action figures they have the same articulations as the bob ross figure but with more accessories and stuff. I think you’ll really like them
I got one of the later buckets, and the plastic is bendy and the rifles don't point straight. Some of the bayonet men can't even stand right and have to lean on tanks
Wtf....I had those back in 2003. I had the exact same 1995 soldiers. I still have a few. This is weird because...I am from Bangladesh. I bought them from a shop near my home. They didn't come in a bucket but a set of 2. The US vietnam era soldiers and ww2 era british 8th army.
That guy on his knee with an LMG, that's a Czech ZB Vz.26, right? It was the most common LMG in China during and after ww2, so not very correct for American Vietnam era soldiers 😅
Every December growing up my mom put out ceramic house decorations and I would place my plastic army men in the villages they work good like a urban war zone

Same it looked like baston'e
Operation "Porcelain messiah"
hahahahaha I did the same. My grandma hated it but my grandpa loved it and would help me

I can actually smell that 1995 tub lol. I spent so many hours as a kid sitting up big army battles all over the house with those.

Do kids still play with toy soldiers? Literally one of the best toys to pair with kids that have really imaginative minds.
When I was a kid my parents wouldn't really buy me any toys but anytime we went to the dollar store, she'd almost always let me buy one toy

Yes, I still enjoy army men, people make fun of me for playing with them, but I like to play with them.
I dont really see them anymore, I thought they were hard to find like GI Joe because liberals thought it “glorified war”

Still do! I play with em and I make animations as well.

It’s a darn shame we never got this guys in more toy sets. LEGO even made them, but only included like five figs. 🥺 You have one job Disney! Come on!
I believe the missing trooper in the 1995 bucket is a fun reference to the trooper that was smushed in the first movie! LOL
