It's a whole new song at this point at least to me. Before it was for angry teens, now it's for broken adults is the best way I can describe it.

Honestly you hit the nail on the nail on the head. This was a song a lot of angsty and frustrated teens growing up in broken homes could relate to. But also sort of was a... idk if "anthem" is the right word but it's the closest I think of. It was a voice for many of the voiceless teens back then (including myself). The vibe of the song really hits differently. It's almost as if it went from being a "angsty frustrated teen", to being a "hopeless and desperate adult".

The rumour in the industry is that he laid the basic vocals in 25 minutes which is insane because they used most of it in the final recording.

This is perfect! The original was us as teens, this version is us as adults. The world ignored us as teens when we reached out for help, but now as adults we still have those feelings but the world expects us to hide it behind a smile. The crumbling builds are us on the inside, and what the world expects us to be are the buildings coming back together. Basically they tell us you can be broken but don't show it because we won't help.

The Origional:
The original song, came out at a godsend moment for me. I was dealing with a relapse (for lack of a better term to use) of a medical issue in my late teens that had my lungs randomly collapsing. Was in a really dark place due to the constant collapses + scars from surgeries..... the Original is what kept me from staying down and gave me the strength to claw my way back out of that pit.

THIS is how i felt when i heard the original.. THIS is what i was hearing when i heard that original song... its what gave me the courage to not back down and give up.
Yes i was 'head-banging' to the original (i even do the same to this version, just at a more sedated pace), but the feelings THIS song give.. are what i was dealing with at that moment...
Having a spontaneous lung collapse every 2 weeks (damn near to the hour.. got to the point i was joking with the EMT's and Medical staff "see you in 2 weeks" ) left me in a really dark place...
3:17 - 4:01 = that moment when i was at my lowest during those days, literally teetering on a knife-edge ...... 4:03 - 4:16 = what was going through my mind for a solid 2 hours while i saw on the edge of my bed spinning a knife around between my hands....... simply so tired of seemingly having nothing to look forward to but the next lung collapse, another chest-tube, and a 2nd planned surgery 'if/when' it happened again..(which it did, both) 4:16 + is what this song, in its original form, did for me.
Many people 'rocked out' to Last Resort. It was their 'angry escape' song of sorts from everything from a bad day at school, looing a game, or just angry at life in general. For some of us, it had an entirely different meaning. Ronnie Captures THAT side of the song that those of us who latched onto it as a lifeline felt with this Reimagined version. 💜
Back when i was younger i rocked the shit outa this but with this version and being older it hit different. Masterpiece 🤌

As a young woman/teen, I went to 10+ of SOAD's concerts and once to Serj's solo show, many mosh pits! Lots of pushing, shoving, but I never was hurt (im only 5'2 and survived just fine 😂). Once a man with nipple rings crowd surfed shirtless and had one uhh.. accidentally forcefully removed 😬 but most of the time it was all good

I will be honest, I was never a huge fan of Papa Roach or the song in general. But FIR's cover of it hits so hard. Like it actually made me cry. It hits in such a different way.
