Just FYI to everyone asking, yes you can use sentri at global entry kiosks in airports (I think only applicable for us citizens and permanent residents). Global entry can be used at seaports but sentri can't. Global entry can be used in sentri land border lanes but you need to register with CBP first. Just Google sentri Vs global entry and look at the DHS info about it or the chase bank/nerd wallet article on it. Also, according to a CBP update on June 29 2023, if applying for global entry and you register your car for sentri during that initial GE application, there is no fee you need to pay later to CBP. If you don't then you'll have to pay 42$ later to register it with sentri.
I am a US naturalized, Mexican citizen, who currently resides in the border city of San Diego. The high cost of rent, and unaffordable house prices are forcing me to move back to Tijuana to live there for good. But the long wait times have stopped me from making my move. I am about to submit my application for global entry, which seems to be the best choice, in both benefits and processing time to get it.
Thank you for the clarification. I thought about getting global entry or sentri as I want to walk through the border through Pedwest or Pedeast to Tijuana and back. I thought you have to get both but all I needed was Global Entry.
No , you can only possess only one trusted traveler card, be it a SENTRI, NEXUS or Global Entry. You can't have more than one card at a time. All three can be used to walk through the US border checkpoint from Mexico.
@@MontgomeryMall So does that mean if you have one program and apply for another (which is sometimes necessary, e.g. applying for NEXUS if you already have SENTRI or Global Entry, or applying for Global Entry if you are have SENTRI as a non-US Citizen/Permanent Resident), your new card will replace and invalidate your old one?

@@YiNkZZ It is necessary to register your vehicle through your TTP account with Global Entry to be able to drive through the SENTRI lanes with your Global Entry card.

I think it depends on which program you can most conveniently get an interview for and how soon. Enrollment on arrival is a great option for Global Entry to avoid the waits, if you are flying into the US soon at an airport that offers this, and don't have a tight connection to another flight after arrival. If you live near the Canadian border or fly to/from Canada frequently NEXUS is another option and is cheaper. Downside is that it requires approval from both US and Canadian government.

You can add your vehicle to your Global Entry card for access to the SENTRI lane. However, you must pay a $42 fee for getting It entered into the SENTRI system and approved. The approval process will take several months. Do not proceed through the SENTRI lanes with Global Entry alone before getting your vehicle registered there.
