@@messono 5'7'' 150lbs, arguably an oversized board for me at 5'5 but doesn't change the hold or performance when the waves get bigger, and only helps me float over flatter sections better in worse surf.
I liked how you mention your prefer 28l, I'm around your weight and always find anything below 27 to not be as fun despite most the volume calculators suggesting 24-26. even though I catch waves easily its nice to have to work less especially as I get older. for punchy/steeper waves do you ever go down in volume? that's when I struggle with the extra foam
I know you mention you like the seaside better, but i wonder if that's because you're pretty light and riding smaller boards than someone at 175lb+. I just think the seaside gets soo wide and bulky in the larger sizes. Basically anything over 5'4. But you also mentioned the swallow tail and obviously that does make a difference. But i still think at the larger sizes and volumes the equation changes a bit. For example, comparing a 5'8 SS to a 5'10 WT, it's hard to imagine someone would take the SS. Anyways, great review, i think you looked better on the 5'4, but you slayed them both. Thanks!
definitely right. I try and put in my disclaimer that it will be relative. But I agree that as the board gets bigger, the WT is better for performance while the SS gets wide, although still user friendly, definitely not performance oriented. :)
I'm in the market for a White Tiger and I'm looking at a 5'4. But will surf entirely different waves, it will be either beach breaks in Sydney Australia, wave pools in Europe or small days in Bali. I'm definitely interested to surf this thing as a twin + trailer with some uprights twins and play around with different trailer fins. I've been surfing exclusively Pyzel for 6 years building a quiver around the Ghost and Phantom which was the perfect duo to do strike missions and overall perfect 2 board quiver for Bali. Currently I have several Ghosts from 5'11 to 6'4 and my best magic board a Shadow 5'10, made a Darkarts of the Shadow but that's a hit and miss for me, my first Phantom snapped and ordered a EPS stringer less 5'9. This will cover most conditions up to 10 to 12 ft Bali waves, so I need to cover the basis for bigger waves a lot more and smaller waves and going a different direction with small wave boards. I have a Twin Crisis coming up in a few days and can't wait to surf the thing. a 5'8 29.5L and this is the way I'm looking into, with ageing in mind. I'm in my early 40s and have about 10 years on Noel Salas and I surf much better waves. So I'm not giving up on high performance boards as this is how I like to surf, top to bottom and attacking. I wish to find this way of surfing in twin fin boards, which I certainly will find in time. So the White Tiger is for me a transition board to go into boards like the Red Tiger and Power Tiger possibly.. or as a transition into the twin crisis. Currently my quiver is so dialed in, I know exactly what to pick for which waves and size. It just works, and would like to expand into the Twin Crisis and if I like it in 5'8 also a 6'8 (midlength) and maybe find another twin Pyzel or what I really want to try is the Album boards. Especially the Twinsman and Bom Dia. EPS boards works but I find it limited, and as soon it gets windy you're pretty much done! In clean glassy conditions yes, they're great, especially the Darkarts. The only thing is to have a definitive answer on whether I should get the White Tiger of Gremlin... perhaps you can make a comparison video. Cheers mate
I've not surfed the Gremlin, it looks really good. I when I look at those two boards, see that the Gremlin follows a traditional outline where as the WT pushes the wide point forward, Both are close in volume to length, with the WT being a slight bit more paddle grovel, super slight. Also, the WT seems to have the edge on features for better groveling. I say WT if you know this is going to be the gateway purchase for a red tiger or power tiger. I even saw a Happy Tiger they did for a certain surf shop. It was a swallow and looked so sick. Hope they release it. Anyways, thanks for the detailed comment. If I ever get my hands on the Gremlin, I will certainly do a comparison. Cheers
How would you classify the smallest waves you caught? Grovelly or Uber-grovelly? I'm trying to figure out when you'd choose to ride a Sweet Potato if you already have a Seaside.
provided the SP is bigger than the seaside, i would use it when the waves are softer. Sometimes it is small but the waves have push. Where I surf, short period surf under 12 seconds tend to be softer waves, crumbly. Long period swells then to hit the sandbars better and push more. At the end of the day, there is a bit of overlap but I sometimes like the idea of not working for waves.
The White Tiger that I was on was EPS Epoxy. It held up a little better. I find that EPS tends to do wider shallower dents while PU forms exactly the shape of the denting object, in this case, heels. Cheers.
I mention it around 7:50 mark of the video. In a nutshell I like the slight bit of extra drive and hold that a swallow tail has. So it's more a matter of preference. if you like your boards loose, squishy feeling, then the WT is better for you. Also, you would likely surf a bit longer, the Seaside is shorter and pudgier, I ride the 5'3 seaside but like the 5'4 WT. They are about the same in liters at those two heights.
@@ThomyeSurfs yeah I'm having the same feeling, but since I won't go for another seaside , maybe the MR cali twin is a better fit. Have you had any experience with it? Any thoughts? Appreciate your reviews 👌🏽

It has it out so wide, even if i'm not centered and way off to the side, at least I have some footage, although I look like a tiny dot on the screen. :( My least favorite thing right now about the camera is the processor. I noticed with mine, when I shoot in 4Kx30, the processor is too slow so it does this weird jerky thing. like it buffering the image before writing it. If you look at some of my video, it does this jerky motion. I thought it was the pan but when I film in 1080, everything looks good. They are a very weird company. I wish GoPro or dji would buy them out.
How’d you like it compared to the seaside? Better or worse in small stuff (knee - waist). I’m on the east coast looking for something for summer. Have a g skate but doesn’t go as good in small stuff as I thought it would
I did mention a bit of comparison between the SS and the WT. most of the different is in the tail for me. Granted my comparison is subjective given the 2L difference between the SS and WT that I tested. In general though, if you like slightly tighter drivey boards, then seaside. Again, this could be my perception since I have only ridden the SS with the machado quad keels. The WT had a tad less (i mean very small) drive but more loose and release through a maneuver. Again, it could have been the fins. I will need to try both boards with the same quad fins to really know.
@@DavidJones-yl9kk on the mashup they had a lot of drive. But not the same type of down the line speed as the Knox. On my backhand though I could push really hard and I was getting good bottom turns on the orcas. I'll need to serve them back to back to back to get a better sense.
@@ThomyeSurfswere you blowing out your fins with the Taylor Knox fins? Do they hold as well or better than the MR 2+1 s? I have a HP Fish that gets so much speed in better waves that I am thinking of using the Mick Fanning thrusters for a little extra hold on those picky days. On those better days I am blowing my fins out when I really put my weight into my turns. It doesn’t happen on weaker days though.
No rocker whatsoever and thus if you aren't young and good the thing just isn't going to go in normal beachy waves. Note the boards shown here, and always with Salas, are very short and very low-litres. So of course they can throw them around. Can you if you weigh far more and are a couple of feet taller? Pyzel's no rocker boards don't really go - so why doesn't he put more rocker in them?
I'm not really familiar with Pyzel boards, this the first one I have tried. When I look at his boards online and in pictures, they all seem to have too much rocker which is why I gravitated to the White vs the Red. I'm 145lbs now but used to weigh about 175lbs, more muscle more fat. Back then I surfed my boards way taller. I remember one issue I had when I weighed 175lbs was that I had to go taller to get the float and back then, it was unpopular to go wider and thicker. No one was doing it back in the early 90's. I was surfing bladey 6'4 surfboards. Sad actually, it sort of ruined my surfing in my 20's. Today, you have so many good groveler choices. The White went well for me and if I were back to 175, I'd likely go only a few inches taller but definitely way thicker. I definitely need to try more Pyzels though. I am interested in the Precious and their Wild Cat twin. But they aren't that popular so I don't see too many 2nd hand. :( Any way, thanks for the feed back. Cheers btw, what boards do you gravitate towards?
@ThomyeSurfs I like my mini ghost and my gremlin was good in a narrow range of conditions definitely a small wave board but not necessarily a true groveler imo. My friend loves his white tiger but he rides it larger volume then me he's 175 with a 35L not sure on dims I'm same weight but I stay around 30-32
Idk, I'm 50yo, 5'11, 175lb and surf Florida beach breaks, and the WT goes exceptionally well. I grabbed a deal on a used 5'10 because it has a blown finbox that I repaired and it gets into anything with ease and I've ridden it in knee to head high. I could size down a bit, but it's a fun board, incredibly user friendly, still handles steep late drops well, and I find it snappy when needed and plenty of pivot.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I have to say that of all the different types of channels out there on youtube, surfing has the best viewers/subs. Cheers

It has it out so wide, even if i'm not centered and way off to the side, at least I have some footage, although I look like a tiny dot on the screen. :(
My least favorite thing right now about the camera is the processor.
Thanks for the insight! Appreciate the reviews!
How did you like the Orcas? How do they compare the the Taylor Knox find?
🤙🏻
Mashup or white tiger?
Mashup. I just like swallows better right now.
@@ThomyeSurfswat bout swallow tail white tiger?
@@Dill_dough20 that would be next level. something definitely worth drying. call it the sabretooth
Cheers
btw, what boards do you gravitate towards?
I could size down a bit, but it's a fun board, incredibly user friendly, still handles steep late drops well, and I find it snappy when needed and plenty of pivot.
couple feet taller? so your almost 8' tall? lol, if anything I've always heard pyzels have too much rocker (Hawaii) and don't go all that well in CA
Thanks!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I have to say that of all the different types of channels out there on youtube, surfing has the best viewers/subs. Cheers
@@ThomyeSurfs keep up the great work!
