Mine is a Vanguard V-twin. Aluminum flywheel will make the biggest difference. I also have ported heads, billet rods, forged pistons, cam, and lots of compression.
Absolutely love the throttling response. If I wanted to get started in this, where shall I start? Your design being low is ideal, and would like to build. Are there any plans or particular chasis?
I used a jackshaft. I've heard of people flipping a transaxle over so the pulley was on the bottom too. Another popular way is using a Peerless 700 transmission and a kart axle setup.
i'm looking to build something like this i have an 18 horse v twin brigs how did you get it running that good ... do they make cams or is this all head work
Turfmaster 13-6.50-6 mounted on EC 7.25" wide wheels up front. Turfmaster 16-7.50-8 mounted on EC 8x8 wheel on back. NOTE: In this video I still had my old Douglas front wheels on which were 6" wide I think from BMI Karts. Also, I burnt these back tires off and I'm currently trying Turf Savers.
Actually the 47 MPH was from my old engine... In this vid, I had a Peerless 820 with an "017" kit in it. Belt from engine to a jackshaft. Then chain from jackshaft to transaxle. Total ratio of a little less than 8:1. I am in the process of converting it to a kart axle setup which can use a Peerless 700 or a right angle gearbox.
i building a vanguard 16 to go in my golf cart was wondering how many rpm's will the stock rods SAFELY turn with a billet flywheel and a cam ? i plan on getting billet rods soon and was jusrt wondering thanks nate..
funny you should say that... my now retired racer is an LT1000 about the same era as the one in this vid. I have two that are about 5 years older as well, and I have a big project in mind for all 3 (monster mower)
No idea of HP, if I gave a number it would be a guess. This mower is set up for circle track so top spead is not what we are after. I can tell you i've hit 47MPH on an 1/8 mile oval.
Hey, where did you find the aluminum flywheel for it? I’ve been trying to find one for my Kawasaki fh531v but haven’t had any luck. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
@@chrisscustoms Thanks! I looked but it won’t fit my V twin as it is for a single cylinder. I’ll just keep looking and see if I can find anything. Also, is the flywheel the main thing that helps with throttle response?
John Cassady Flywheel makes a big difference but your opposed will not be this quick. This engine was running 16 to 1 compression in this vid. The opposed has heavy rotating assembly plus its a flathead. Don’t get me wrong I had an opposed with ARC wheel on it before going Vtwin and it ran good but no comparison in a racing situation.
@@chrisscustoms thats good to hear. And yeah i didn't think it would be that quick. I dont race or anything i just got bored and built my mower engine lol. How did you get a 16.1 compression ratio? Did you mill the head and install domed pistons? Thats crazy!. Did you have to make a copper head gasket?
Can I get a build sheet. I wanna built one of these SOB’s!!! Be nice to have a sheet as to what y’all do to get them lowered and wheels tires ect. F a go kart I want these
sounds good man!!! changing the sound is just the exhaust. nothing fancy.. shorter the pipe louder it is but more backfiring and less backpressure. check out my v-twin JD on my channel.
Logan Adams yeah i figured that but some of the other people that are from the city dont know how to get there mower louder so thats why i said its mostly exhaust.
acousticguitar355 Yeah haha i love a built briggs they rev so fast and sound like a mini v8 i got a 18hp block with milled 16hp heads P&P rev key cam advance its it rips but dont rev near i quick i this one but my rpms are limited to 4000
Logan Adams my stock 12hp briggs revs at that..lol i have a couple of videos of a local racing lawnmower thats got 85hp. i've driven it and it hauls ass. i will get the videos up soon
"That's right. I mowed 15 lawns today."
With what? There's no blade on that thing. It's just a go cart.

*engine on*..."thats cool"...*engine revs* ">>>SHITS PANTS
lol
Clean yourself up, boy, you're starting to stew...
Rumor has it he's still standing there revving that fucking engine until this day.
Awesome! Both Opposed and V-Twins always have a killer sound!
damn that's the fastest mower I've seen in ages!!!
Chris Johns and it didn’t even move
@@ryan14r95 🤣
Scared the shit out of me when you revved it! Awesome!
Sounds like a friggin' NASCAR
That is awesome, bet that's fun to drive
now that sound is amazingggggggggggggggggggg :O
Absolutely love the throttling response. If I wanted to get started in this, where shall I start? Your design being low is ideal, and would like to build. Are there any plans or particular chasis?
Sounds awesome glad I own one now I'm sure I'm going to do the same
That sounds nasty😳

Yo that is crazy
Sounds awesome, i love it.
Where did you get your parts from?
Awesome sound! How did you make it sound like that? How did you do the exhaust? Straight pipe? What size pipe? And how did to get it to rev so fast
i'm looking to build something like this i have an 18 horse v twin brigs how did you get it running that good ... do they make cams or is this all head work
Best mower on UA-cam
How to you get that amazing throttle response?
Currently using Peerless 820 Transaxle (with live axle) but will probaly be switching to live axle.
Flywheel certainly makes a big difference but, you'll need to do more than that.
thanks....way cool ride by the way!!!
Wish my go kart sounded like that

Holy ship. Did the 820 survive 8 to 1 ratio?
Wow! Thats one hell off a racing mower. How mutch Hp do you have? And what is your topspeed
what type of carb do you have on it if you don't mind me asking..?? it has some great throttle response...
Hey man did you do a live axel set up. Or still just a transaxel?
Killer mower! Love the throttle response! Do you remember what cam this was? Sounds like a 310 lift maybe?
DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN NOW I WANT ONE
omg i love that . ive got an opposed twin ive rebuilt and its still like new but looking to mod it now. could you tell me what mods youve done please?
i building a vanguard 16 to go in my golf cart was wondering how many rpm's will the stock rods SAFELY turn with a billet flywheel and a cam ? i plan on getting billet rods soon and was jusrt wondering thanks nate..
Nice to see somebody else using a Craftsman LT1000 for they're projects.
How did you get it to sit so low? Iv been looking to build one myself.
thanks!
Hey I’ve got myself a v-twin racing mower and I was just wondering how you got yours to sound like that so I can make mine sound like that too
how much would it cost to have you build me one indentical? Not for racing, just for fun to tool around on
where did you get your tires from?
that is cool I want billed one
funny you should say that... my now retired racer is an LT1000 about the same era as the one in this vid. I have two that are about 5 years older as well, and I have a big project in mind for all 3 (monster mower)
how much did the stock mower cost you?
hey just wondering but where do you order you parts (flywheel) from?
Does this race mower still run to this day?
I think I wet my pants. I love that mower good job.
Do you have any performance mod tips on the nikki carb ? Thank you
Mostly E.C. Carburetors, ARC Racing, and Performance V Twins.
Any cam you would recommend ?for my motor?
Daaaaaaaaaam!! Is that a drag car or a riding mower. Sounds like a top fuel!
what did you do for the exaust?
hey what kind of tires are on this beast
what trans are you running?
How do you get throttle response like that?
how did you get it to rev so fast?
Sent you a message. Slippery Rock, PA and we also race at Race1 Speedway in Dubois, PA.
Do you have any plans for that build I would buy the plans off you and what kind of engine is it ? Thanks Dave
Tell me something I just got a 25hp v-twin and how do I get throttle response better and have you done any mods to motor
Looks like one huge bundle of fun! As a biker though, having the throttle where my front brake is, would take a bit of getting used to.
nlo114
Uh, isn't the front brake on the right side on motorcycles? As a biker....yeah ok.
FatJesus443 yeah you sound pretty stupid right now.
That sounds great. For sale ?
How do u get it that low. And is. That a motorcycle engine?
how did you get it to turn up like that never heard one turn up like that lol
No idea of HP, if I gave a number it would be a guess. This mower is set up for circle track so top spead is not what we are after. I can tell you i've hit 47MPH on an 1/8 mile oval.
You still race mowers my guy?
How did you get it to turn up like that never heard one turn up like that what hp
I'll post a slide show of my header construction.
Do you have any plans for that build I would buy the plans off you and what kind of engine is it ?
What exhaust does it have??
How did you do the exaust
Hey, where did you find the aluminum flywheel for it? I’ve been trying to find one for my Kawasaki fh531v but haven’t had any luck. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

What do have under that thing man holy shit!
Hi bud where abouts did you get the parts from for your build please
What type of lawn mower is this and do you have plans for sale
What kind of engine?
tire and wheel combo? sizes, brand etc..thanks
Whats all done to it?
And what hp was the motor originally
hey nice video i was wondering where can i get this motor
Does it move?
Is it the flywheel that gives it such a quick throttle response? I have a opposed twin with arc rods and avs pistons but still has the stock flywheel.
John Cassady Flywheel makes a big difference but your opposed will not be this quick. This engine was running 16 to 1 compression in this vid. John Cassady yes heads cut AND O-ringed, copper gaskets, dome pistons. Strong runner.
The motor is built.
u runnin racin fuel??
What’s the tire and rim set up
Throttle response how is it so fast
Just a Briggs 2 barrel.

will we see it go
Peerless 820
hey man i seen your vid that said slippery rock racing are you in pa if so get back to me in in butler and really would love to come see you rides
how do you make it sound like that without it boggin when you giv it gas??
Cristian Lugo or blowing it up lmao
Cristian Lugo pretty much a cam, valve springs and roller rockers is why it revs up so fast
the flywheel,,,buy one of them $400. flywheels and yours will sound that good too!
yo whats up nice mower check out mine its a stock engine but it keeps right up with the guys that have like 2 grand in there motors
How many rpm limit
I want it
hey can yo send me a message of all the things you did to your motor i am building a 111 racer and need to have that throttle response
Two words, FUCKING SEXY !!!!!!!!
sounds good man!!! changing the sound is just the exhaust. nothing fancy.. shorter the pipe louder it is but more backfiring and less backpressure. check out my v-twin JD on my channel.
Theres a little more than juust an exhaust on it
