I feel like the spacing with Dalton and Christie on the wing and corner 3 is going to change the way we play offense in a certain capacity but If they can also play good defense we can get back to being the top transition offense.

One of the reasons for the Lakers' coaching staff decisions was player development. He has the tools to become a serviceable defender, and it's the coaching staff's job to help him develop into that.
As long as he's not a liability on defense, he can really help the Lakers.
I love the game of most of the players on this lakers roster, man I really hope the team can do great this year. Would be awesome to bring all these guys back next year and just keep seeing these young guys grow
I think Dalton has a lot of potential.
I don't recall Knecht being projected by "most" mocks as a top 7 pick. A few had him that high, but most had him later in the top 10 or a little later. Still a blessing to get him to fall to 17.
Love his game! He’s probably the most exciting player I’m looking forward to seeing ! I really do hope he focuses more on the Defensive side though for sure cause I love 2 way players! I do think he will get a fair share of reg season minutes for sure! 🙏🏾💙🏀💯

Nah we ain’t frustrated, that’s you LeBron fans! Rob Pelinka did his job last season which is keeping the team that made the conference finals last year and making upgrades to the roster. The 1st half of the season half of the roster was injured, and then 2nd half when they were getting healthy they started going on a run in March, they couldn’t move up in the standings because the other teams ahead of them were winning too. Lakers didn’t lose anyone important except for Taurean Prince. But they still managed to keep AD, Bron, Reaves, Rui, Dlo, Vanderbilt, Wood, Reddish, Vincent.
Dalton Knecht is gonna be way better than you think. But Picking up JHS over Jacques, Whitmore, or Podemski is way more frustrating.
I don't see him being much. I see a movement shooter who isn't big enough nor good enough on D to be a 3. Isn't explosive or athletic enough to be a 2. Basic handle can't get to the rim vs atheltic long 3's nor can he free himself and score. Also not a good enough passer to be a play maker. Why are some hyping the kid?
Can't live on contact at the rim. An important skill is getting there and being able to finish at the rim.

Knecht looks good, all rookies have to learn how to play NBA team defense. The Lakers should absolutely not trade Knecht for at least a year. Lakers were lucky to get him and with the new CBA you really need to have solid developing young players. With the Lakers future draft picks and the way their roster is odds are they aren't going to be able to draft any significant young players. Its certainly not a guarantee but Knecht could well be the best rookie the Lakers get in the next 3 years, so they really have to give him a good shot at making it with the Lakers.

We got lucky in landing Knecht in the draft.. He was probably our best move this Summer.. Baffles me why we arent using him as trade bait.. At best as a rookie hed give us about 10 ppg.. Package him with the 2 future first rders plus Dlo and we should prob be able to land a third star
Other teams don’t seems to value him as high. Otherwise they would have drafted him.

Trevor!! 🙌✨ love this video. For Dalton it all comes down to mindset. We all know he has the skills, we all know the potential is there to get better and better and become a really good nba player. However, where is his head at? That’s the important thing that is going to determine his impact on the Lakers this season. If he comes in as is going to just be a guy who has the attitude of I will just do whatever the team tells me to do whatever they need me to do we are in trouble. This kid needs to shine bright and take it upon himself to really embrace a mamba like mentality for this season where he is no just a rookie he is here to play along stars like AD and Lebron and make them better or even put himself in a situation where they have to pass it to him to save the game. Reeves did it and look what a great player he is turning out to be. Dalton just needs to hangout with Austin and pick up that I am him 😅energy! And take off like a rocket 🚀 that’s waiting on nobody to take off and land in the stars 🌟 I look forward to Dalton being a positive warrior and truly betting big on himself

No one's passing to Reaves or Knecht to "save the game". 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ Not because they are bad or anything, but because they are not needed to "save the game" with Bron and AD on the floor. That being said, it doesn't mean they won't get the ball to shoot if they are open, but that's not to "save the game", that's because LeBron doesn't have the mentality that it must be him all the time. And unlike you, I think that Knecht should stay humble and basically normal and not act like he's another Steph Curry or whoever right from the start. Seems like you're looking for the Anthony Edwards type of mentality, he started the Olympics like that and we saw how it ended up for him (not bad, not the way he was hoping for either).
Why are we having too many one way players coming out of college? Isn’t it ideal to be a 2 way? Don’t make sense! Them boys need to be well rounded player to really make it big the NBA!
Normally I would be wary of trying to put all this on a rookie but we really are in an urgent situation. I would even be open to him hooking up with LeBron and taking some steroids

Honestly we should expect nothing. The kid couldn't stay in front of a practice cone in summer league. We need on ball defenders who can play 1v1 defense. The KCPs and Caruso's. With an aging Bron, we can't expect AD to clean up all the blow by plays. Our first line of defense was so poor last year and I don't see this kid helping in any way.
Lakers got 1 too many ballhandlers on the 1st Unit alone = 3.
Need a catch & shoot specialist, NO DRIBBLES = Dalton Knecht is qualified.

I played College/Pro Football and find it Super Challenging that folks that never played College/Pro Sports have the audacity to call Pro Athletes, “Bums”.

The projected starting lineup or your lineup offers no perimeter/help D. Need to separate the AR-Dlo or AR-Dalton pairing, especially the former....how big of a sample size do the Lakers need to figure this out? At 40, Bron needs to step back from the PG spot if you want to maximize his energy on both ends of the floor. Need to use Gabe or Max to pair with weak perimeter D in either AR or Dlo w/o sacrificing too much on offense.

Am i legit the only bball fan that thinks it's totally ridiculous for an NBA team to PLAN for a 9 man rotation??? I mean come on. Assuming you luck out and have a totally injury free season where all your starters have banger seasons and noone goes through a slump... maybe.... but how realistic is that??? How can we talk about the power of depth in the same breath while defending an 8 or 9 man rotation??? lol. Seems like a recipe for disaster to me. Is a starter really going to suffer from losing a few mins a game so 2-5 more roleplayers can get some minutes? Hope for the best plan for the worst is a solid plan am I right? Maybe it's just me. I'd like to see the stats on what number of players on a team got regular minutes and game-time experience in every championship team in the past 20 years. Without seeing the stats I'd be super surprised if playing 8 or 9 players was a recipe for success. Prove me wrong.

This is a mistake. He’s just not the kind of talent that can step in and contribute anything significant to a contending team right away. Now, I admit that we are not a contending team, as presently constructed, but theoretically the front office is trying to act like we are, so if that’s the case, he should really get spot minutes off the bench and spend most of his time in the first couple years in the G league…unless he explodes, which I really don’t expect him to do 🤷 I sincerely hope I’m more wrong about this than I’ve ever been about anything ever (and I’m not predicting that he’ll be a bust) but I’m just saying I think it’ll take him two or three years to develop into a quality rotation player, and in the meantime, he’s gonna be a liability on defense. Even if he learns eventually, he’s gonna be a liability for now on that end for at least the next couple of years…AND I think his shot won’t necessarily translate right away either. Shooters always take a few years to adjust to the NBA level, even elite shooters. He’ll be no different.
When are we going to clear Max Lewis and JHS slots? 15 players and no depth whatsoever. Max, JHS, Bronny and Cam are unplayable.

I think the problem is that Dalton was drafted the same year as Bronny. If the news I heard that lbj will play at the same time as Bronny, then the kid will get more playing time. The Lakers might give more opportunity to Bronny than Dalton. I hope not but with the clowns in the front office, that is still a big possibility.

I know this might sound crazy but I think Dalton can make all rookie first team. For starters, he is going to a team that needs his skill set which is shooting and spreading the floor. Also, he has a coach that was a shooter himself and he'll get the best out of him. And also he is 23 and won't be the raw prospect.
