Although I believe the gentleman enjoyed playing with his wall a little too much I thought he had some great design ideas. I also appreciated the skill level of who ever installed the tile in the bathroom. Getting the grout lines so perfect the storage cabinets seemed to disappear, I couldn't even tell they were there until he opened them. So many great ideas in this living space.
Yep sheet form as already said but can also come as a board that doesn't even require grouting. More a 'lamipanel' product. You'd certainly see the join lines however if looking straight at the wall. It was certainly filmed from the angle to give the impression the joins couldn't be seen but as with any closing panel, joins aren't seen if filmed from the angle they can't be seen!
The use of space in this small apartment just blew my mind. There are lots of ideas here that could be taken and used for much cheaper. We all can learn from these examples.
Now this is a man who can design cabinetry to be utilized for a sailboat, and yes, I noticed he's fond of that sliding door! He and my father, a retired cabinet designer could tie up an entire weekend talking about space, wood and hardware --- very nice Sir.
I have been watching these videos since last October. This is the best of match box living I have seen. Before this video I could not imagine living in a tiny space. The fact that I keep watching other folks adventures in tiny living spaces shows a desire to simplify my life. This condo is doable.
Mobay001 cabinettes are not safe , you see how he strokes the doors. Plus Rosa is sitting still because she,s horrified the world will now hear him say “ it’s a bit like a nomadic life. “ Great flat fun commentary.
I was so happy to see the kinematic bed legs and fold away cabinet doors. The height adjustable table made it for me. My favorite one I've seen, thank you for posting these.
Brilliant! Everything was considered. So much fun to design small smart spaces. Densely functional space, yet clean and airy feeling (when you move the walls into the right place). A splendid way to claim your home space in NY.
As a NYC real estate agent (with minimalist longings) I really loved this video. What an amazing space they have created. And to his point that real estate prices in NYC can be prohibitive, it behooves people to become creative with their spaces. But I liked what he said about being conscious about the environment and should really try to have smaller spaces.
What a perfect marriage between the austeer dark wood of the interiors of the cabinets and bedroom, that reminds me of european 50's furniture (i love that!) and the stark white modern exterior that bounces and reflects the precious few rays of light from the tiny windows. So deculuttered and so beautiful (although white is totally not my color) I would move into that space, as is, right this second and never regret it. Woooow... Yeah... well done! Omg, that hight adjustable table. I have a kid in a candy shop feeling.
This has always been my favorite multi-functional small space…doesn’t require CONSTANT wall/item movement for daily functions & is absolutely beautifully finished
Kristen, you do such a fine job of documenting these living spaces. I admire your work so very much. Thank you for sharing these inspiring videos. I always look forward to them.
That is the best use of space I've ever seen. That layout is perfect. The only thing you didn't show is the main entry door. You did a great job on this. Congratulations!!
The amount of details is astonishing! Even the roof with the lights and the window blinds is a story it self! Felt like a child watching a magic show! =D Absolutely one of most inspiring apartments of dynamic usability! =) Thanks for making and uploading this video! Cheers from Sweden! =]
Apt is well renovated and space is used as best as it can get. Spared no expense to make this studio work. You still have to pay me alot of money to live in a place like this. This dude is good. Cant imagine what he can do with a legitamate house. Lot of great ideas done professionally.
The bathroom in this is simply a thing of beauty! I also love how they offset the predominate white with the walnut; making an otherwise bland space pop with a cool and homey color.
perfect for me as a bachelor living alone. this is your best video ever.in my country the netherlands specialy my city living space is hard to come by but with this solution you can make every small home a luxurius apartment
My favourite kirstendirksen production yet! I'd love to have a home like that. It's great to see people pioneering all of this stuff before it's mainstream. Some day this kind of living space will be cheaply found at outlets like Ikea and we will all owe this kind of transformable, sustainable, efficient simplicity to people like these.
Excellent ideas! The bathroom was especially awesome. Love how all of the things that would make it appear cluttered are hidden behind walls and doors, too. Very nice.
It’s all about the hardware! Reminds me of what my husband always says “You should always use the ‘right’ tool”. Great design. I’d love to have the funding to create multi-use components! Thanks! Lauri
The litter box looked like it was under the bathroom sink. This was well thought out. This was the best video for use of space located on within small environment.
This is the best use of space I have seen out of all the videos that I have been watching by far....wish if he could convert my 700 sf condo like that.
That bathroom is remarkable to me. Making the whole small bathroom one tile color inclusive of the shower already won me over - but then he whips laundry bags and shelving from behind the tile? Wow wow wow!
The cat is transformable into a dog for potty walks, then he collapses back into a cat indoors - the levers are cleaverly concealed behind walnut veneer, sustainably harvested, of course.
It took a nautical designer, and he glued the tiles himself, and came from a family of cabinet makers... so he starts with a a but more than skill saw and carpet knife. But a wonderfully designed space through and through. He does like his wall, and the blend from walnut to white transformation is quite elegant. Well done.
That's a really awesome design for a small apartment! It seems so much bigger and like they have just enough space for everything! I love all the closet and storage space and it looks like every space seems to be used really well. I think the wall is a good idea for separating the bedroom if they want to. I don't usually like white or walnut coloured anything but I think the colours go with the modern look as well. I wouldn't mind living in a space like that!
me gusta mucho porque tiene mucho orden sin complicaciones facil comodo y multifuncional felicitaciones y gracias por tanta creatividad nos da ideas para una mejor organizacion en espacios pequeños
Thank you for the quick reply! I am grateful for the videos that feature interior designs for small spaces. I am considering a space of 640 square feet. I look forward to more videos such as these.
I loved this in the magazine and decided to put some of this stuff in my house I am designing. Now you made it so much better with a video. THANKS ! I love the way it works.
I would love to have a home with an interior designed like this. Incredible & well thought out floor plan & ideas to maximize space. My fav rm is the cocoon bedrm...
It is not just the apartment. It is also letting go of all the crap you don't need. Living with less is much more healthy than having loads of stuff one really does not need.
When I was watching this video, I kept thinking: So much storage! So much STUFF! I would overwhelmed living with that much stuff, honestly. To each his own, of course.
The fact that his wife just sits there and keeps working as tho nothing is going on, not acknowledging the fact that someone is doing a documentary on her apartment, because she is just SOOOO BUSY really pissed me off this entire video. Other than that, one of the coolest apartments Ive ever seen. Awesome place!
What a fantastic use of space! That said, I have a feeling that all the customizations would cost a mint if you don't have the cabinetry skills to make them yourself. I especially love the sleeping nook and the enormous sliding door. Beautiful job all around, kudos!
wow... so cool... its really practical. I wouldn't call it tiny home, cause its actually pretty big compare to most other tiny home Ive seen. But love the fact that everything(mostly) is multi-fruction and god there so much hidden draws and etc..... Yep he LOVE his moving wall.... Theres another guy who did something similar but his wall was actually draws and closets... thanks for sharing it sure got me inspired
I just love the apartment. I live in Tokyo and almost like living in Manhattan...the rent is crazy. They should do this in Tokyo, people would love it. I would buy the space like this for sure. Space is so limited in the heart of Tokyo, yet I am not commuting just to get a bigger space. I can totally live there. Also getting the bigger space means more chores and cost of maintaining a bigger space (not to mention property tax!!) Such a pain for cleaning bigger space! I just love this!!!
So many great ideas in this living space.
that style of tile comes in rolls, and is glued down. Man could you imagine have to lay each individual 1 inch tile down by hand?
***** lol sorry but they come in sheet 12x12 and are stuck together already.
Yep sheet form as already said but can also come as a board that doesn't even require grouting. More a 'lamipanel' product. You'd certainly see the join lines however if looking straight at the wall. It was certainly filmed from the angle to give the impression the joins couldn't be seen but as with any closing panel, joins aren't seen if filmed from the angle they can't be seen!
wonder if water leaks into the cabinets
Very clever - if I made a wall that moved that well I would probably open it a few times too
The use of space in this small apartment just blew my mind. There are lots of ideas here that could be taken and used for much cheaper. We all can learn from these examples.

Oh my goodness... that bathroom! The whole apartment is just so beautifully put together. What all architecture should be - regardless of space!
Pure brilliance. I've always thought murphy beds were timeless, and the lift up table and furniture drawers just make sense.
is amazing, i don't care how many times he slides the wall, he's a freaking genius for making such a beautiful and practical house
this dude loves his wall
Lol
*moves it back and forth*
Mr.Govatrav! TAKE DOWN THAT WALL
Mobay001 cabinettes are not safe , you see how he strokes the doors. Plus Rosa is sitting still because she,s horrified the world will now hear him say “ it’s a bit like a nomadic life. “
Great flat fun commentary.
Divides him from his wife. She's got a face like a smacked ass
I was so happy to see the kinematic bed legs and fold away cabinet doors. The height adjustable table made it for me. My favorite one I've seen, thank you for posting these.
This is my favourite small apartment.
Love the bathroom!
Pretty inspiring.
Very nice people, too.
I loved seeing all the innovations especially the furniture with storage and the adjustable table. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for the vid. "Swiss Army Knife" is a great descriptor. Love the versatility and all the multi-functional elements.
This is seamless. The D E S I G N is everything. Brilliant in every way!
I've seen a couple of these videos and this flat is my favourite
This is genius. This is how all apartments/houses should be.
Brilliant! Everything was considered. So much fun to design small smart spaces. Densely functional space, yet clean and airy feeling (when you move the walls into the right place). A splendid way to claim your home space in NY.

What a wonderful achievement! everything can move, everything is hidden (in a closet), colors, materials and mechanics etc and etc.
This has always been my favorite multi-functional small space…doesn’t require CONSTANT wall/item movement for daily functions & is absolutely beautifully finished

He moved that wall so many times that you could turn it in to a drinking game.
+Jean-Luc Maske-Stockdale LOL, yes, yes, the man is definitely proud of his sliding wall.
LMAO .
out of all the micro home video's i have seen this has made my top 5 for sure.
I didn't see one. Though I know that the large sliding wall can be used as a projection screen (perhaps for tv as well).
Apt is well renovated and space is used as best as it can get. Spared no expense to make this studio work.
You still have to pay me alot of money to live in a place like this.
This dude is good. Cant imagine what he can do with a legitamate house. Lot of great ideas done professionally.
I appreciate looking at the storage ideas instead of just seeing a small place.
The bathroom in this is simply a thing of beauty! I also love how they offset the predominate white with the walnut; making an otherwise bland space pop with a cool and homey color.
my favorite multipurpose mini apartment transformation so far. great job. love it.
perfect for me as a bachelor living alone. this is your best video ever.in my country the netherlands specialy my city living space is hard to come by but with this solution you can make every small home a luxurius apartment
A lot of smaller homes are too claustrophobic but this small home is BIG, Absolutely love it.
Very nice.
This is the best of the best. What a problem solver. I have re watched many times. Pure genius.
It’s all about the hardware! Reminds me of what my husband always says “You should always use the ‘right’ tool”. Great design. I’d love to have the funding to create multi-use components! Thanks! Lauri
He should marry that wall, he loves it so much.
The Garneaus designed all the cabinets and furniture and had them milled. You can find out more on their Studio Garneau website (link in the text).
This is the ideal place for me and my husband. Love it ! Hopefully, we can find something like this when we move to NY.
Great space saving concept... Probably the best I have seen thus far.
Wonderful storage ideas! Every place is storage!
The table just blew my mind @ 9:35...
The litter box looked like it was under the bathroom sink. This was well thought out. This was the best video for use of space located on within small environment.
Geez ~ How many times are we gonna watch you open and close that wall? That is so gonna drive the viewers nuts.
And this is our dog... he is a cabinet too
Michaela Allen omg! your too much! lol
Remind you, it is a CAT 😂😜
+Michaela Allen You forgot their two children named Recessed & Hinged :)
LOL
XD
This is the best use of space I have seen out of all the videos that I have been watching by far....wish if he could convert my 700 sf condo like that.
So far my favorite Dirksen vid by far.
Best tiny house by far!
When he opened the cabinets in the bathroom I just sat there and said "NO WAY."
Great use of space--it didn't look small by any means.
I absolutely LOVE this channel. Right up my small living space alley ;o)
If more people would learn to live like this, we wouldn't be in such debt.
That bathroom is remarkable to me. Making the whole small bathroom one tile color inclusive of the shower already won me over - but then he whips laundry bags and shelving from behind the tile? Wow wow wow!
Absolutely brilliant. I was so impressed by how well thought out everything was down to the last detail. Super Excellent!!!
Fabulous. What an astonishing use of space. LOVE that dining table, talk about amazing!
damn smart.. and what a lovely wall..
A:"Honey, where is the nail cutter?"
B:"In the drawer"
A:"Wich one?"
The cat is transformable into a dog for potty walks, then he collapses back into a cat indoors - the levers are cleaverly concealed behind walnut veneer, sustainably harvested, of course.

What an innovative use of space! Very nice. It must have been pretty expensive, though.
Wow! This is an intelligent design. Every inch of the space has been used very smartly .. 👍
I would move into that space in a heartbeat. That is truly amazing.
I’m absolutely in love with all of the neat space saving & custom work. TY so much for sharing!
The walnut is beautiful. It has this mid-century feel
A Very Beautiful Home & Very Well Done.
The whole house is amazing... I couldn't think of moving walls, moving tables, etc
That's a really awesome design for a small apartment! It seems so much bigger and like they have just enough space for everything! I love this place especially the woodwork. Bravo!!
Awesome video 👍 👍 I love your videos... The old ones and the new ones... Thanks for sharing and giving me great ideas for my place... 👏👏👍👍
he's in love with that wall, only put as much energy in that ponytail :)
That apt is amazing! I'm jealous of the organization and the feeling of so much space.
Thank you for the quick reply! I am grateful for the videos that feature interior designs for small spaces. I am considering a space of 640 square feet. I look forward to more videos such as these.
Out of all the small apt. I've seen this is my favorite!
This is one fabulous crib!!!
I loved this in the magazine and decided to put some of this stuff in my house I am designing. Now you made it so much better with a video. THANKS ! I love the way it works.
Everything about this space is genius.

can he slide the door one more time bc i didn't quite get that it was a functional sliding door.......
😂😂
It moves
Beautiful apartment. I love the bathroom cabinetry.
Prolly the best video i've seen on this channel. I really like the look and flow of the entire place.
Incredible! I have found a few things I want to incorporate into my boys rooms. Thank you!
Great design, really creative and very good explanation when the man introduce his house.
Great idea! The place is very practical, and stunningly beautiful, too. Thanks for sharing : )
I LOVE this apartment & how they used every inch of space. The guy really loves cabinetry! Ha!
Thank you. You read my mind.
WOW,,Everything Moves! Incredibly Genius! Love it All. Good Job!
I really dig this apartment and all of its use of space. Very cool.
Once again, another great video. This is by far my favorite channel. I'm glad I found you.
I love this place.....has alot more storage than my 3 bedroom home. Love the furniture too.
What a fantastic use of space! That said, I have a feeling that all the customizations would cost a mint if you don't have the cabinetry skills to make them yourself. I especially love the sleeping nook and the enormous sliding door. Beautiful job all around, kudos!
LOVE all the hidden cabinets/storage!
i love the table lots of storage, the murphy bed with cabinets drawer at both sides..
wow... so cool... its really practical. I wouldn't call it tiny home, cause its actually pretty big compare to most other tiny home Ive seen. best use of space ever.
This guy is the smartest New Yorker ever!!
Amazing craft work. IKEA could learn from some of these solutions.
The table with drawers is just brilliant!
I love the double height closet idea
Intelligent design- if I might say - love the sliding door that is also a wall
