- Happy Halloween! Welcome to Hollow Knight Speedrunner vs. Hunters, but spookier than ever before. This time, the hunters are ghosts, and there's five of them. Can I beat The Hollow Knight with five players trying to stop me, or will they beat me first?

▶ HALLOWEEN SPEEDRUNNER VS. HUNTERS RULES
• The Speedrunner wins by defeating The Hollow Knight. Hunters win by killing the Speedrunner.
• Hunter Starting Equipment: 3 Masks, Nail 0, Vengeful Spirit, Howling Wraiths, Monarch Wings, Crystal Heart, Kingsoul, Shaman Stone, Tram Pass, King's Brand, Awoken Dream Nail, Lumafly Lantern, All Dreamers.
• Ghosts: All Hunters have timescale set to 0.5, but have the Wings Glide, Vertical Superdash, Diagonal Superdash, and Change Direction In Midair Skill Upgrades. Friendly Fire is on.
• Hunter Scaling: Hunters gain Mothwing Cloak and Mantis Claw when the Speedrunner does. When the Speedrunner gains their second movement ability, Hunters unlock an extra mask and lifelines.
• Lifelines: A Hunter may open their map to find the Speedrunner's area. Only one Hunter may open the map per lifeline and should not hold it open for more than fifteen seconds. A llfeline can be used every fifteen minutes.
• Sound Effects: The Speedrunner broadcasts a sound effect into the voicecall when: using the Dream Nail for an objective, purchasing a toll, completing a mask or vessel, purchasing any item, or using a tram.
• Bans: Before the game begins, the Hunter team can apply five bans: one level 2 spell or Nail Art, which the team decides on together, and one charm ban per hunter. The Speedrunner will not be allowed to acquire banned upgrades or charms.
• The Speedrunner cannot hear the Hunter voice call.
• The Speedrunner has a 30 second headstart on the Hunters.
▶ SPEEDRUNNER VS. HUNTERS MODS
TheHuntIsOn by Korz
• ALL players do not receive healing from sitting on benches.
• ALL players do not receive healing from entering dream boss arenas.
• ALL players cannot use stags.
• ALL players do not spawn shades, or receive penalties from dying.
• ALL players have small elevators removed from their world. There should be platforms to replace them, but it was bugged in this version.
• ALL players can instantly travel through large elevator shafts.
• SPEEDRUNNERS will have platforms to enable them to navigate shade skip spots IF they have the loadout required to perform that shade skip.
• HUNTERS will have platforms to enable them to navigate shade skips spots no matter what their loadout is.
• HUNTERS cannot collect lifeblood seeds from the world.
• HUNTERS start with the game world unlocked (i.e. shortcuts open, most bosses killed, etc).
• HUNTERS respawn in King's Pass when they die.
• HUNTERS heal slower, and their focus cost is higher.

The way they trapped Fire at the Ummu fight! Strategy perfectly executed
even that was not enough though
they played the final fight so smart, cycling players one at a time. the dogpile strat would just lead to friendly fire, and when everyone is dead it gives fire time to fight the boss unhindered. great team of hunters, victory well earned = )
It was smart but it nearly got them the loss too, maybe 2 at once? The one by one is a strat i think would work better outside of the Ghost too
@@erwannthietart3602 I agree, 2 or 3 at once seems like a good number so that you don't just have people waiting outside doing nothing but the boss room is also never empty

So I was confused when he said game timescale because I had never heard of the term before. Were your moves and animations slowed down, or did you physically see things going 50% slower?
@@ripmyacc05since it's multiplayer, and fire was at normal speed, it was just their movement + most ability speeds that were reduced. fortunately they are playing within the limits of physics :) (lighthearted)

Having seen a lot of these, the legitimate coordination and strategy is super impressive. The strategy for the THK fight specifically was so well done, not leaving fire time to heal or even focus on the boss, genuinely insane. It’s no wonder the hunters won this one. Great watch!

It would have been cool, and kinda funny, if you made it so the dream nail would instantly kill the ghosts, like how it actually removes ghosts in Hollow Knight. It has a pretty long windup, so I don't think it would be too OP.

@@creeperYT9824 touche, though it feels like a bandaid solution for a sawblade injury. Maybe instead, dreamwielder can be used on a player in the death animation to get a free heal/large soul boost?
@@starplane1239 that wouldn't work too great, as often there are other ghosts. It probably should instead heal the vessel by 3 charges
Those were really competent hunters. Pretty much having 100% upkeep on Fireborn's location and not letting him roam free, setting up traps and strategies, the final fight was absolutely intense. I legit was rooting for the hunters to win here. Like they deserved the win.
Man, the fireball skip at 16:03 was the coolest thing!
These hunter videos keep getting better every iteration! Especially like the ban system. Should make for some fun ways to mix up your strategies. Would love to see a true ending version

This was a really fun one! I like the use of sound effects and lifeline cool down. It's nicer when the hunters do know where you are most the time, but are also nerfed enough (with speed in this case) so it's evenly balanced. The hunters all made really good plays too, the tag teaming into the THK fight was a really good idea. Also HuntHussle?? Haven't seen them in a really long time, nice to see them back! :)
This was probably one of my favourite runs in a long time, and seeing Hunt back on the field made me smile
Seeing speedrunner vs hunter in silksong would be so cool if it happens in the first few years when the speedrun skips/route are actively being discovered!

17:08 They're right; he is amazing. Those dodges were insane, and he even then finished them off; all without taking any damage from any hits. Not too long after the epic Fireball skip too. I love Fire's "It's time to be the hunter for a bit" moments. It's hilarious to see the hunters get so unlucky with their lifeline uses.
So close. Fire was so close to finishing the fight. What a great video. I never get tired of these.
Love the fact these fellas can laugh at their own foolishness for being stacked up when you fireballed them both during that skip, and for the next few minutes working it out to make sure they don't do that anymore

@@epicness2632 the sole reason he has lost is due to the handicaps that are only increasing in severity everytime he releases a manhunt video.
In a lot of the manhunts he won, there was a single trick keeping the run alive, which was swiftly neutralised in the next manhunt.
This time, there were two tricks neutralised: his AoE charm builds, and juking skills. The only thing keeping the hunters from just ending the run at false knight was their slow movement speed. Had they been at 75% movement speed since the beginning, there wouldn't have been enough footage for a video.
@@godslayer9000 of course the rules would have to be tweaked. Maybe the hunters won't even need a speed limiter anymore.
Speedrunner vs Hunter is overused, but that video idea is WAY too overused. It would make it too boring.

Uumuu is the bane of these runs when the hunters can fight you alongside the boss... having to wait for Quirrel to strike Uumuu becomes 10x as excruciating.

When the hunters locked fire at Uumu and crystal heart room the tension was high!
Fire pulled off some incredible dodges too. Came down to the end too
Recommendation for speedrunners/hunters, in terms of getting game knowledge, randomizer is amazing at teaching you where various stuff is and what rooms can be navigated with different sets of movement abilities. Progression is a lot more varied so learning rooms and map layouts helps a lot more
this man makes me fear for my life, the sound of dashing will be engraved in my head for years and years

this was really entertaining! i liked the ability balancing and rules in this run- everybody has to adapt to new strategies and charms, and it keeps the format interesting.
in a future run, maybe you can have access to the hunters' voice chat in exchange for a debuff, or another buff for the hunters? or, similar to the lifelines, you can get a few seconds of secret voice chat access (once or twice, or on a longer cooldown). :3

Wish Fire would do commentary for these. Part of why I loved Minecraft Manhunt was cuz of the chemistry between Dream and the Hunters
There's not much to commentate on. Anything that needs to be explained get explained in text
Juggernaut mode: One player is much more powerful than the others, and the rest have to team up to take them down. However, whoever gets the killing blow on the juggernaut gets to become the new juggernaut. The juggernaut has to try and kill as many bosses around the map as possible, with each boss having a different point value. Most points by the time all bosses are killed wins.
This setup was super cool! I'm glad the Hunters upped their speed, because .5 was too slow. Can't wait for the next one.
they really did have unfortunate lifeline timing! i would love to see speedrunner vs hunters where the items are randomized (everyone would know where every major item is at least)

Given the banned charms, I wonder if taking the time to get more unconventional charms would have been helpful. Fragile strength may have been a good one, but I'm not sure if additional nail strength does more damage against hunters. Possibly going for Shade Cloak+Sharp Shadow could have been an interesting play that would punish hunters for getting too close, esp. the double damage he'd do from having dashmaster equipped. Mark of Pride could have been another edge on keeping distance on the hunters. Probably not enough charm notches to do all of those, but could have been interesting to see how those would have affected things.

This mode was really cool! Feels like it could work with larger hunter numbers, too.
Whoever that hunter that got lost in the beast's den, don't worry a lot of has have your back.
I really liked this but i want to share my thoughts on the rules. 1. If nail arts deal 1 mask of damage then i feel banning one of them isn’t really a necessary handicap. 2. 50% speed was definitely way too slow for the ghosts but with their c-dash 75% is a bit too fast for the c-dash in my opinion. 3. If hunters are alerted when a dreamer is gotten then i feel their lifeline should only reset after a dreamer or significant item instead of every 15 minutes.
4. Would be really cool if the hunters had a deep focus+ where once they focus they heal all empty masks but it takes a lot more time.
