it's so funny to me that *SPOILER* he gets howling wraiths and never uses it once, but also I don't think the hunters ever figured out that you got fragile heart
No literally!!! During the Uumuu fight, I was screaming "Use Wraiths!!!" the entire time because still deals damage and, I think, is better than using Spirit, since it seems like trapping Uumuu under a platform and just screaming at it will deal more/constant damage.
@zenonempire3562 I also noticed, especially the part when he's below Uumuu, though I think he's playing safe, keeping his soul in case of more hunters joined in on the fight
I do like that you still leave in the runs where you die early to show that no they’re not just letting you power up to make it a more entertaining video, but it’s always extremely entertaining!
Though I do miss the chaos of Stag Stations, I think this is the perfected ruleset for manhunts. I kinda wish Fire had survived that first game with the hunters not knowing he had picked up City Crest, since that would've made for a really interesting midgame. Alas, it was not meant to be.
I've gotta say, showing the times you lost gives a ton more entertainment and validation that these matches aren't staged, makes the times you do win feel earned and rewarding, not just for you, but for us who're sitting on the edge of our seat in these engagements that get down to the wire. Plenty of 'hunters vs x' only show the wins, so they end up feeling fake after awhile.
this is probably the most (seemingly) competent set of hunters so far, of course hindsight is 20/20 and we are seeing this from fire's perspective, so some seemingly bad decisions make sense in the moment
this is a totally niche request, but i absolutely love these vids and often watch them while doing other things. i frequently miss the notes and have to rewind to make sure i didnt, so a subtle sound cue would be super cool. definitely not a necessary change, and great vid overall, as always ❤❤
Was a fun time hunting you, fire!! Hope to do it again sometime!! :) Edit: You're a madman, it was insane to watch the crazy shenanigans you pulled off!
Fire, I love these videos - the notes make things so much more accessible to me as someone who doesn't necessarily know high-level Hollow Knight strats or have an idea of your gameplan. Thank you for adding them!
Spoilers: Fireborn dying twice that early is a bit surprising, but it makes sense since early game you’re still rather vulnerable and have no real advantages over the hunters, and while rushing bosses can get you the element of surprise, if the surprise fails you just aren’t capable of winning the 4v1 that early, and this group of hunters was also quite sharp.
Mhm also he has less places to go so knowing what fire is going to do or be is not a big surprise early game is super hard until he gets claw or at the very least gets into greenpath his options are so limited
Please keep making these. This series is one of my absolute favorites. It's so fun to be hearing them guessing at what you're doing, often guessing it as you were doing it, and just to see how you handle so much chaos is always wild and fun.
I love when you successfully sneak past Hunters, like when you did the False Knight without them noticing. The best part is that they thought you skipped False Knight, but you actually got the City Crest. I love that they are not aware that you have Longnail and that's why you are so effective against them haha. Third time's a charm.
What I like about this series in comparison to Dream's who started trend is that it always feels like there's stakes. While Dream's vids aren't scripted, a lot of the losses are cut out, so it feels that Dream wins way more times than not, therefore stakes don't really feel as intense without the implementing of movie-style cuts and music. In comparison to Fireborn's series, all wins and losses, no matter how big nor how small, are posted, meaning there's always a sense of urgency. The feeling of stakes never really goes away, making each one enjoyable to watch.
What i love about your Speedrunner vs Hunter is that you upload the games where you loose as well, and even ones like these where you lose at the beginning you usually change up your strategy and it's just interesting to see your problem solving throughout it all
This was really well edited. After finishing the original again video, I assumed you would win because this was longer. To my surprise you died twice so I thought you weren't going to win based on time. Well done!
I think it'd be horrible especially if the hunters knew. Camping is already super boring early game, camp False Knight camp Greenpath Entrance Camp Greenpath Chokepoints camp Claw... No reason to add one more camp.
@@acticlacid Thats actually a great idea. Assign points to bosses lets him kill any combo of bosses he wants and makes his path alot less predictable. This could give an edge to him that lets the hunters be given a bit more power so they don't have to constantly fight so disadvantaged.
Hey fireborn, i have an awesome speedrunner vs hunter video idea, it's like normal but everyone (both speedrunner and hunters) start with nothing but item sync is turned on between both parties, meaning they could get something at the cost of upgrading you, or you could upgrade at the cost of letting them know where you are
I'm playing the game for the first time and I'm just simply impressed seeing the things you experienced players can do. This was impressive and fun to watch.
"How many grubs are there in Crossroads" TK was losing it because they were the 6th grub. Also the "I'm going to head to Crypts. It's the fastest route," part. Dude it was your _only_ route at that point, was it not? No Stag, no Tram Pass, and the Blue Lake shortcut wasn't unlocked yet.
I got in the situation that caused the end to the first game. I tried menu dropping to get away faster, and died to a tictic. What an honorable way to go.
this series is really fun! my only suggestion is that maybe it should be harder to stop the speedrunner before they get to greenpath, but also easier to stop them after the get past claw because its a lot more fun to see the game go on past claw, but it doesn't really seem very balanced, you were never in any major danger of losing after claw
Thank you! But I wouldn't advise anyone to make sweeping judgments about the rules based off just one game. For example, the last uploaded game used the exact same rules, and I had insane equipment going into THK and died. If everyone judged based off that alone, the late game rules are suddenly extremely hunter favored, which is quite the difference from being unloseable for the speedrunner. In reality, these rules are closer to balanced in the mid to late game, but the speedrunner role is pretty demanding mechanically whereas the hunters are very demanding in terms of decision making. I know that the early game is hard, but I died because I made bad decisions both times, so I don't agree that the rules needing to change. It's not as simple as just tweaking values; any of the changes that could happen have an impact on the rest of the game. The rules in this video added Infected Crossroads on start for hunters, which was meant to balance the early game without impacting anything else. A problem was that I didn't really take advantage of it and instead chose to brawl in the first game and immediately died. I made adjustments to my strategy and made it out in the final game.
I will add that I've been working on the rules for years, so it sucks when people immediately leap to "they're broken" based off single moments in a single video. The fact that these rules work at all in a game that wasn't designed for multiplayer and with players of vastly different skill levels is a miracle. Feels like people expect perfection out of the balance in these videos, which I guess shouldn't be surprising given that they're inspired by content from a known cheater in the speedrunning community lmao.
@@fireb0rn yeah thats a fair point. despite the fact that I've kept up with every video in this series you're the one who was actually playing so my judgement will by default be worse and when you boil it all down luck is a very big factor in this and good luck for either party can make the game seem very skewed towards that side.
