As I previously said, all movies usually count two Spanish-language dubbings: a Latin American and a European version. Given the location of the movie, no European version was made, this time. In Spain the LA version was displayed instead (for which Gael García Bernal, who voices Héctor in the English version, reprised his role).

Try listening to Shakira songs in English and Spanish. Spanish is her primary language so she sounds much smoother in those versions

I just realised, at 0:47, I think that "el alma tocó" actually means that the soul played the song, so the translation would be "a beautiful melody that the soul played"

I have to say, even though I think the english song is also very moving, the sentimentality of this song hits so, so much better in Spanish.
Even though it's still a translation into English, "True love unites us forever in the beat of my heart" is a lot more poetic than, "Our love for each other will live on forever in every beat of my proud corazón". Especially when you consider that the emotional core of the story itself, which is ultimately about reconciliation of a family.

It's not. Luis Ángel Gómez Jaramillo sings and dubs in this version. Anthony González does it for the english version.
@@xhkxc not really, otherwise all the lip movements of the characters would match with what they are saying in spanish. They do not match, exept for some songs and words. Soy chilena y he visto la película 10 veces como para darme cuenta que lo que dicen los personajes en español no está en sincronía con los movimientos de sus labios.
I think it's good no European Spanish version was made. The Europeans can understand this anyways and it makes it feel more authentic.
Yes, the Spaniards normally have movies made with their own accent, but they left this one with the Mexican accent and dialect (for slang and cultural references it had to, or else it wouldn’t have made as much sense)

I always loved the english version, but the spanish just has an amazing feel into it. Absolutely loved the spanish version of all the songs in Coco.
I love this so much. The guard giving him a look like “trying the legit way?” And him being so nervous but then, he’s accepted and ever she is excited for him. Then, we see him crossing the bridge, with shoes. He’s welcomed back into the family of shoe makers. He’s nervous, so many times not being able to make the crossing. Now he is.

I know next to no Spanish, (I’m better with Italian) but this feels so much more right compared to the English version.
I think Miguel wrote this in tribute of everything Hector did for him and for his Nana Coco, and also for their reunion. Miguel would go the extra mile to honor both of his beloved ancestors.

What gets me, is that the cousin has a violin. And it feels/sounds like she can play it slightly better than a novice. Who wants to bet she secretly played music during the ban too?
She must have gone through a lot of trouble in order to secretly practice such a loud instrument. I prefer thinking she learned faster than others because she is also a descendant of Hector's and consecuently she is just as musically gifted as Miguel.

I love this so much! I know some people didn't like the movie, thinking it's just for kids and there are not enough dark themes (because old Disney movies have a lot of them, like Hunchback of Notre Dame.) But even Coco has a dark scene here, and that would be Hector getting poisoned. Even movies like Coco can put a scene like that in the movie, while also having a sort of positive concept. I understand that Disney and Pixar movies nowadays don't have very dark scenes, because their audiences may not handle it that much. But when it comes to films like Coco, people shouldn't focus that much on the amount of dark scenes there are. I mean, yeah, Coco is for kids, but it's also a film for everyone, even though it's made by Pixar.
