    Just a little note, it wasn’t just the US and other countries deciding the build a space station. It was a little more complicated. The Japanese had been planning on having what we now know as Kibo on Freedom, but the Europeans had been planning on launching their own small space station, but it was cut and reduced to only a single pressurized module. This became the Columbus module. However, the ISS wouldn’t have happened without the Russians’ failure to launch a direct replacement for Mir. Mir-2 and Space Station freedom were both struggling for funds, so the Clinton administration approached Russia to combine the two struggling projects into one International Space Station.

    The space station is one of the amazing achievements of mankind and has fulfilled the human desire to live in space. Due to the high cost, many countries are not willing to do this. The Mir space station is one of them. We were given complete and useful information about how the space station works and how it was built. This information is very useful and has increased our awareness. We are very grateful to the producers of this film for making such a film so that we can become familiar with the workings of the space station. Thank you.

    Dear Jared: that animation was just superb. If I knew how to I would watch it in slow motion. Thank you so much!
    The company I worked for in the 1990s designed the main power contactors for switching power between the solar panels, batteries, and space station load. The company I worked for in the 1990s designed the main power contactors for switching power between the solar panels, batteries, and space station loads.
    I was lucky enough to be one of the design engineers on a very small team in Santa Barbara that made that contribution. It was thrilling work. The power system from the solar panels and the accompanying batteries is I believe a 155 V DC system. It required new technology to make lightweight contactors that could work in space. That’s what we did.
    Thanks again, Steve

    • @multi-colorman5952
      @multi-colorman5952 4 роки тому +2

      periklis spanos *sigh* because, it has small boosters on the bottom, or on the side to keep it from falling back to earth. Gravity is the force that is pulling it to earth, so they use small boosters like SpaceX does to re-align it.

    • @apollo8030
      @apollo8030 4 роки тому

      @periklis spanos Exactly! Thats why vac engines bring air with them

    • @singhanmolpreet5935
      @singhanmolpreet5935 4 роки тому

      @periklis spanos actually they are all wrong, the satellite stays in orbit just like the moon. The gravity of the earth pulls down at them, but since they are moving along the equator at the same speed, they fall parallel to the spin of the earth, basically sending them in perpetual orbit.
