I know we're all mostly here for the jokes because Mr. Sunday Movies is a comedy channel in superhero cosplay, but I would genuinely love to see more videos documenting stuff like this. James is good at writing and narrating them and I didn't know this at all before.
did you forget that mr sunday movies covered actual movies rather than superhero shit? its obvious they're sell outs, and only care about money and views.
Seeing how intricate and expensive those suits are really makes it seem even more believable that a teenager with no money could make one in his bedroom.
I’ve just seen The Great Spider-Man Suit Heist and nothing prepares you for this. I cheered, I shouted, I fist-pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered. It’s absolutely everything you hoped it was going to be.

Also funny because I know for a fact that James' family owns atleast 4 Spiderman costumes 😂 (sorry I go through stages of revisiting a lot of Weekly planet content)

I expected a story of how James and Mason stole a Spider-Man suit. I'm extremely disappointed that wasn't the case. Just kidding of course! That was a great and informative video!
The hard work of Mr. Sunday Movies is truly impressive. NOT referring to this expertly researched video on Spider-Man's suit BUT the metaphorical & literal hoops he's jumping through to AVOID talking about beloved NEW GOBLIN
wow what a cool story! cant believe i never heard it before. I actually wanted to buy this suit recently at an auction but then i realized it went for something like $50k - $100k lmao. either way this suit is incredible. good video :)
As someone who vaguely knew about this story its super satisfying that you actually had answers and conclusions to present instead of doing the infamous "in the end we may never know" you and Maso always talk about lmao good on ya 👏🏾💯
Whoa. I know (or knew) Jeff. I worked in the prop collecting industry at an auction house and he's still very involved with collecting. He and his son were really into horror props. I had no idea about Jeff's reputation until another coworker filled me in on his history. It always kind of blew my mind he was still trusted after that.
When I was a kid back in the early 80's my best friend's grandad was a security guard at the BBC at he often 'acquired' old props and bits of costume from shows like Dr Who, Blake's & etc for his grandson. The fake sponsor plug bit got me laughing my ass off. I was just bout to skip thru inspite of how he cleverly worked it in; till I realized he was f**king with us
Excellent writing, excellent research, excellent presentation, excellent editing! Would love to see more like this! The vpn gag had me immediately skipping and I was confused at how much video I missed and had to go back 😅💀
I prefer the duo with Maso ofc, but these solo vids come off as such fantastically psychotic rollercoasters and have such a freakish charm of theyre own 5 STARS *****
I remember my dad telling me about the stolen suit decades ago before the movie released as it was news at the time. I always wondered what had happened to those suits!
I loved the background info on the suit. It was comprehensive and really interesting, and I for one would watch an entire video on that topic. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Mr Sunday Movies! Great video as always. I’m a huge fan of your regular true crime podcast ‘The Weekly Planet’ and I encourage everyone to check it.
The odd thing about the suits made for these films is that they were TOO good. It kinda took the viewer out of the film when this down on his luck teenager suddenly has this incredible looking suit.
I honestly thought i was THE ONLY person to know about this. For years i felt alone. But then ol sunday movies here pops in and like chad kroeger ontop a building. Came in and the people said that a hero could save us. And sunday movies said. Im not gonna stand here and wait...

Damn, how did I miss this video when it came up? This is by far my favorite Spidey suit to ever Grace, the big screen. And here is a video from the Almighty, Mr. Sunday movies detailing both how it was made and the wacky story that followed. today is a good day.
this may be the best Mr Sunday Movies video i’ve ever seen. It’s hilarious, it’s australian and it’s full of hard facts. the only critique I have is that I missed maso in this one
It's a hard balance to strike, on one hand you want it to be believably built by a broke teenager and on the other you want it to look good. I mean have see those old "official" Spider-Man suits Marvel would rentout for cons and parades and stuff in the 90s that were actually spandex? They looked like shit.
@@imtrash0826 and You’re not getting the point. The other guy is saying it’s a fiction/comic book so trying to look at it from a realistic POV is pretty unnecessary considering we’re discussing a story about a kid who got bit by a radioactive spider then obtained its powers..
When asked how he got the suits, Gustafson responded: "I had to beat an old lady with a stick to get these."
"HA! He said it! He said the thing!"
"The internet's amazing -- and terrifying! I shouldn't have found this!" Laughed so hard at that.

“Comedy channel in superhero cosplay”. That is such an apt description of Mr. Sunday/Weekly Planet, I will now use that from now on. Thank you.✌️

Lol true. They should really look like a red version of the Kickass suit.

@Lamashtar I think the "no money" bit is the real limiter here

This has Batman, Japanese Spider-Man and American Spider-Man all wrapped into it, this is juicy
Crossover of the century.
And the Terminator!
If they made a movie out of it, they could all team up to fight the machine!
Moral of the story: Don't get married. Stay alone and keep your spiderman costume.
Don your spider man costume. That way, everybody will think you’re spiderman, instead of a guy who _stole_ a spiderman costume.
