    Friends, today I’m back with part 2 of our FNAF timeline, what we’re dubbing “The Afton Era”. This spans most of what we see in the games. I’m excited to finally be diving into the games after spending the last episode having to do a lot of extrapolating from outside sources. You all are going to want to STRAP IN for this one, cause it’s gonna get CRAZY

      It started as a fun kinda interesting story. Then Scott saw he could make hella bank, and just made more, more and even more. Just boring and stupid explanations to something that started interesting. Just a mess at this point. A real shame the intriguing lore was ruined by greed. And the fact that MatPat makes even more money off of his FNAF themed videos is a testament to the fact that the series was going down the drain. Just a weird money grab since year 3.

    this gave me chills. Afton’s logic of “my son died, my daughter died…so Henry’s daughter must die too” is so nightmarish and expertly represents Afton’s descent into madness. never mind the fact that it was his own other son (and by extension, him, since he made Michael so bitter about being a permanent babysitter) that caused the death of the Crying Child. poor Charlie and Henry.

I hope matpat doesn't feel bad at all if the theory isn't 100% because regardless I'm so happy these videos are being put out and I have fun videos I can go back and rewatch whenever I want to remember the story. I'm so grateful to mat for dedication to this game and his fans and this tedious difficult storyline. Thank you!

    • @Volair
      @Volair Рік тому +96

      Absolutely the right take. These are, as stated in every video, "just a theory". When you present a theory, you should present it as if it's correct. This is to present the idea in full, of what could possibly be the right answer (but being stated as a theory immediately makes it clear that it's ultimately best guesses with evidence and logic applied). Books and movies have done this for ages in cautionary tales (think 1984, Fahrenheit 451, etc). These are looks into a future that could have possibly been, or at least aspects of one such future.

    The Crying Child’s death being William’s motive for murder has always seemed right for me. Story-wise, making William a serial killer out to get revenge on Henry and Fazbear Entertainment for creating the dangerous springlock suits that killed his son by shutting down everything to do with them is the perfect motivation for him and it explains why he keeps coming back. He will not rest until everything to do with the franchise is gone

  • @ivanlar1188
    @ivanlar1188 9 місяців тому +24

    Hi Mat, your timeline is great I love it and, while rewatching this part, I might have found the way to explain why Elizabeth's death come after her brother's :
    Remember that in The Silver Eyes we are told that Michael Brooks died in the pizzeria ? Well maybe it was an accident with the springlock suit and it could be what the crying child have seen and makes him fear the animatronics and why William wants to keep him away from them. After all, Michael's death happened, according to the book, 10 years before the current events of the book so in 1983.
    Even if the book is probably 90% not canon this could fit in the story of the games. Maybe this accident was not report in the game (in any way) and is not refering to the crying child but happened the same year just before.
    Regarding Elizabeth missing in her room maybe it could be explained simply because she was with her mother. After all William's wife leave him at this point, according to your timeline, but she still probably want to stay with her children.
    I know it's probably a little bit late to come back to this but I hope I'm not doing mistakes and you could find it helpful if you'll read the comment.
    Anyway great job with the theory you are always the best. I hope we could solve FNAF one day, maybe 😂.

    In all honestly, this version of the timeline actually makes sense. The fact that Michael actually draws a picture of Nightmare Fredbear in the Logbook makes me think that we weren't wrong about Michael being the one we play in Fnaf 4 (but not the kid who gets bitten). The flowers and the IV could be him either remembering where his brother is and *who* put him there, and it makes even more sense if the Nightmares are hallucinations rather than an actual nightmare. I believe in the Fnaf books when they talk about the illusion discs, they mention sometimes feeling almost dazed or confused, meaning having actual hallucinations that weren't created by Afton more plausible. Michael would also probably be really tired staying up that late (and he probably would be up in the day too), and more tired the more it all went on, making it even more likely to have those hallucinations too.

      the fredbear springlock failure thing retiring the springlock suits sounds like nonsense still
      My theory is that there was a springlock failure and the employee followed the instructions to quickly shimmy to the safe room, however the crying child might have been locked in there by Michael and got to witness it
      Some things seen in the shadows are easily misunderstood in the eyes of a child. He thought that the employee had been eaten by the animatronic leaving him with a phobia of getting close to them
      although Henry (who was managing Freddys) was more safety conscious retiring the springlock suits there right away and rolling out some out of place temp suits until regular animatronics could be built. To William such immersion breaking was out of the question (I mean hell it was company policy to go to the safe rooms to bleed out just so the kids wouldn't have their experience ruined) and besides the springlock suits were integral to the charm of fredbears so he kept them
      the stomach mouth is literally just children's imaginations about the joint line between the upper and lower torso pieces of the suit.

    I'm honestly glad he mentioned afton before he became a killer, it shows he wasnt always a blood thirsty monster, it shows he was once a regular man with a dream. A dream that would soon be his greatest nightmare.

    Even if this timeline isn't 100% accurate (and it sure seems like it is) it is super entertaining. It's like MatPat reading an audio book about pain, dead kids, and death.

    Mat mentions that he thinks Elisabeth died a day before circus baby pizza world opened
    18:09
    but when Elisabeth is begging William to let her go play with circus baby she says
    ‘You let the other children go see her! Why won’t you let me go?’
    And when she disobeys Williams orders and goes to see her anyways she says
    ‘Where did all the children go?’
    Plus circus baby mentioned she used to count how many children where in the room with her?
    Most likely me either being dumb or digging too far into things lol.

    Am i wrong, or did he contradict himself? Matpat said the 4th game is the crying childs older brother being kept inside the house due to his father needed to keep him inside, but later he talks about the 4th game animatronics having an opening stomach because of what the crying child saw happened with baby. If im wrong, please someone correct me.

    • @jamesd.c.4810
      @jamesd.c.4810 10 місяців тому

      He just said that CC's fear for animatronics might have originated from Elizabeth's death. Baby's stomach opening thing is something that can imply that the Nightmares have the same thing going with their belly full of teeth. Both the Nightmares were used to scare CC and Michael. So, it does still make sense for Michael to be the protagonist of FNAF 4.

    I love how you made the timeline very narratively driven. It really makes FNAF a emotional and interesting story compared to when it's just a bunch of thing that happen without any context.
