Absolutely the right take. These are, as stated in every video, "just a theory". When you present a theory, you should present it as if it's correct. I love that!! I was saying to my sister the other day for mark they should have him at the start of the movie as a taxi driver taking the night gaurd to work or even have mark show up as a police officer or something
My mind completely exploded when he connected the candy cadet stories into afton melting the five animatronics into one. Literally makes complete sense.
I love how you use certain choice words and phrases that we recognize in order to connect the narratives together. Especially when you mentioned how both Cassidy and Crying Child were broken in order to tie back to the fact that they shared Golden Freddy for a while.
I love these long FNAF theory videos! I’d say Elizabeth’s death happened before the crying child’s (this way “Remember what you saw” would make sense) But you’re right, why would William Afton create a “murder” robot before any of the deaths? That doesn’t make any sense… Has he always had the objective of killing kids or was it gonna be used for another thing? Like storing stuff (which doesn’t make a lot of sense but…)?
We know Afton was all bitter and angry about Henry stealing his bit and buying him out, right? How could Afton force Henry out and let him take control of the company again? What if Henry's daughter Charlotte was killed by an animatronic Henry himself had worked on? An animatronic that Afton had secretly turned into a deathtrap? A deathtrap that unfortunately went off on Afton's daughter instead, by accident?
I always headcanoned it as Baby's Ice Cream dispenser malfunctioning. It had a bug that Afton seemingly could never get rid of when creating her, so he only made it usable when there was only one person nearby. It was never intended to be a murder weapon, until Afton decided to make it a feature when he went insane
Main reason why I’ve always hated “pranks” it can always go wrong, someone could always be hurt, someone feelings could be shattered, I feel so bad for the kid. Pranks should never be violent or generally hurting someone inside. It hurts me on how some, even all of this wouldn’t of happened if that wouldn’t of
I loved how Matpat told the story from William Afton’s perspective and his jealousy and turn into insanity was really brought out and made a lot of sense. Amazing job, can’t wait for part three
Just want to say, I'm in a criminal psychology class. Afton's whole thing matches the habits of an organized serial killer, and OSKs usually torture their victims in some way. Maybe Kassidy was the first one he tortured, but he stopped torturing kids when she started haunting him because he didn't want more spirits as angry as her
This makes me think that Chica being at the for front despite being the most eh animatronic is in tie to her victim status. I never actually thought about it until now, but it makes sense how despite being unassuming she always gets the last laugh
I like the theory about Cassidy because everyone really was wondering why she just happened to be the ONE he shouldn't have killed. Thinking that it had nothing to do with Cassidy being a special child, it's just that her death was so violent and probably so much more painful that she couldn't let it go. I like that explanation than leaving at "the 1 you shouldn't have killed"
i think the fact that those chica UCN cutscenes likely describe the ramping up of Afton’s method is a super acute observation that i don’t think any one else really noticed
It’s honestly amazing that MatPat at this point isn’t just putting in random theories that he thought were true in the lore. He is basically actually bringing in the compelling of what FNAF basically was a horror game franchise about darkness and tragedy of your childhood. And seeing MatPat starting to bring back those memories really gives us appreciation.
Watching this again I just think it’s fascinating that the early games had so much of this earlier history in them that we now finally understand, and it’s not even 100% done yet
It is something truly special hearing all these lines Mat was stumped on for years just casually worked into the script. 9 years later. Absolutely wild. Its been an incredible ride and whether the story is truly done or not, I will always come back.
I'm honestly glad he mentioned afton before he became a killer, it shows he wasnt always a blood thirsty monster, it shows he was once a regular man with a dream. A dream that would soon be his greatest nightmare.
I have a theory: since we play as mike in SL, and when we get brought to the scooping room at the end, perhaps circus baby wanted to help her father with collecting remnants, and SL is before the first three games, and circus baby somehow went inside his body?
That’s literally what happend, baby wanted to leave the sister location place that’s why Michael got scooped and came back as a immortal purple guy that’s why he goes to fnaf 1,2,3 place
The Crying Child’s death being William’s motive for murder has always seemed right for me. Story-wise, making William a serial killer out to get revenge on Henry and Fazbear Entertainment for creating the dangerous springlock suits that killed his son by shutting down everything to do with them is the perfect motivation for him and it explains why he keeps coming back. He will not rest until everything to do with the franchise is gone
Ikr, it's not exactly entirely foolproof (he comments on this at the end) but it's just a great storyline for the very convoluted lore that scott established
In all honestly, this version of the timeline actually makes sense. The fact that Michael actually draws a picture of Nightmare Fredbear in the Logbook makes me think that we weren't wrong about Michael being the one we play in Fnaf 4 (but not the kid who gets bitten). The flowers and the IV could be him either remembering where his brother is and *who* put him there, and it makes even more sense if the Nightmares are hallucinations rather than an actual nightmare. I believe in the Fnaf books when they talk about the illusion discs, they mention sometimes feeling almost dazed or confused, meaning having actual hallucinations that weren't created by Afton more plausible. Michael would also probably be really tired staying up that late (and he probably would be up in the day too), and more tired the more it all went on, making it even more likely to have those hallucinations too.
While watching, I noticed a large problem with this timeline, the fact purple guy becomes a killer after crying child’s death. This is an issue because in an earlier fnaf 4 cutscene, you can see purple guy in a closet stuffing a victim into one of the spring lock suits.
@@Roxrock If I’m thinking of the same scene as you are, that wasn’t Afton stuffing someone in a suit. That was Afton suiting up one of his employees in a springlock suit for the job. He wasn’t doing anything malicious in that scene.
I would’ve thought the reason Michael encounters the nightmare versions is because that’s how he sees the animatronics after he essentially killed his own brother
Oh my goodness, HUGE kudos to everyone who has worked on these “Final Fnaf timeline” episodes; the animation, graphics and writing are simply stellar and Matpat’s voice acting is on a whole ‘nother level. Fantastic job!
After all these years I can finally understand what the hell is going on with this universe's timeline xD Thanks for being so dedicated Matt, you and the rest of the theorists out there deserve a long bravo and a pat on the back.
I love how you made the timeline very narratively driven. It really makes FNAF a emotional and interesting story compared to when it's just a bunch of thing that happen without any context.
When Scott started leaning into the lore, I wonder how many times he read someone’s off the wall and cool theory and thought…”yea…that’s the story now.”
Can we appreciate the way Mat tells stories like this? He has such a way of doing the voices and representing emotions its great. Great timeline great story great presentation
Even if this timeline isn't 100% accurate (and it sure seems like it is) it is super entertaining. It's like MatPat reading an audio book about pain, dead kids, and death.
Matpat is probably such an underrated storyteller, particularly in the horror story scene. I bet anything he could try and tell 1996's Scream as a bedtime story. Given the fact that this movie's OG Ghostfaced serial killer is played by Mathew Lillard, who's gonna be playing Afton in the upcoming FNAF film, why ever not?
@@yellohammer8571 I would LOVE if MatPat ever did like a horror story narration thing with the sort of expressions he gave in this video. I'd pay to see stuff like that, he's so underrated.
I have to agree with you both! Matpat did an amazing g job of narrating this theory. Honestly, I think I'd be more excited if he did more theories like this!
Wait what if “the baby isnt mine” is saying michael isn’t william’s biological son so it makes michael’s disdain for william even more interesting because of all the layers of “hes not my real son he killed my real son”
“Nothing is being taken out beforehand, so if you left anything inside, then it’s you’re own fault.” Giving this line the context of Henry knowing Afton was left inside gives it a new level of revenge and I love it
An extremely minor detail but I think there is an explanation for why Nightmare Fredbear has a mouth on his stomach: That’s where the walkie-talkie was inside the plush dolls so the crying child, being a young kid would think that Fredbear had a mouth over his stomach to speak with.
@@kittyratrawr That's what we've always thought, but this theory places Baby's death after FNAF 4 making that idea impossible, this is just an alternate idea
the fredbear springlock failure thing retiring the springlock suits sounds like nonsense still My theory is that there was a springlock failure and the employee followed the instructions to quickly shimmy to the safe room, however the crying child might have been locked in there by Michael and got to witness it Some things seen in the shadows are easily misunderstood in the eyes of a child. He thought that the employee had been eaten by the animatronic leaving him with a phobia of getting close to them although Henry (who was managing Freddys) was more safety conscious retiring the springlock suits there right away and rolling out some out of place temp suits until regular animatronics could be built. To William such immersion breaking was out of the question (I mean hell it was company policy to go to the safe rooms to bleed out just so the kids wouldn't have their experience ruined) and besides the springlock suits were integral to the charm of fredbears so he kept them the stomach mouth is literally just children's imaginations about the joint line between the upper and lower torso pieces of the suit.
An extremely minor detail but I think there is an explanation for why nightmare Fredbear has a month on his stomach : that's where the walkie - talkie was inside the plush dolls so the crying child, being a young kid would think that Fredbear had a mouth over his stomach to speak with.
Love the new definition of the one he should not have killed, its a clever way to redefine it, its not about the murder its about how far he went with his violence hence why cassidy has more vengence than the rest
Definitely right idea, wrong method. Most likely she was stuffed into Gfreddy in Suit Mode. Springlocks could have triggered, she would have died a horrid death. 2 years later in 1987 he *wears* her as he kills 5 more children.
Hi Mat, your timeline is great I love it and, while rewatching this part, I might have found the way to explain why Elizabeth's death come after her brother's : Remember that in The Silver Eyes we are told that Michael Brooks died in the pizzeria ? Well maybe it was an accident with the springlock suit and it could be what the crying child have seen and makes him fear the animatronics and why William wants to keep him away from them. After all, Michael's death happened, according to the book, 10 years before the current events of the book so in 1983. Even if the book is probably 90% not canon this could fit in the story of the games. Maybe this accident was not report in the game (in any way) and is not refering to the crying child but happened the same year just before. Regarding Elizabeth missing in her room maybe it could be explained simply because she was with her mother. After all William's wife leave him at this point, according to your timeline, but she still probably want to stay with her children. I know it's probably a little bit late to come back to this but I hope I'm not doing mistakes and you could find it helpful if you'll read the comment. Anyway great job with the theory you are always the best. I hope we could solve FNAF one day, maybe 😂.
I’ve always been (and still am) really upset about the fact that “the one you should not have killed” is Cassidy, some random child that William murdered, but I liked that you took things like how Cassidy may have died as reasons why they are different from the rest. Edit: guys there is no actual proof that what mat said about the murdering of the children is actually how it happened except the fact that Chica was the first one to get a kid stuffed into it. What I’m trying to say is that there hasn’t been any defining features that make Cassidy different than any of the other kids. Sure Cassidy was the one to torture William but why them in particular? So although there is no solid proof that Cassidy was killed this way, I do still like it cause it gives a more valid reason why Cassidy would later on do the things like keeping William alive to forever torment him for what he’s done.
Just because it's a random child doesn't mean Cassidy is a Noone. He/she become the one you're shouldn't have been killed because he/she is the one that tormenting William and couldn't pass away in peace like the rest, not the other way around
There was no mention of a suit in this murder. It was the first victim to TRULY see who had killed them, it makes sense that the one with all the answers would be the one to seek and finally get revenge.
I still can’t believe it has almost been a decade of Matt trying to solve FNAF. From trying to make connections to real life events, to just trying to make any logical theory in the games work, across reading all the books…this marks true character development.
You know, these two videos just gave me a nostalgia. Back when FNaF used to be scary and reasonable with their lore. Everything is understandable on why everything is the way they were. The way MatPat put together the story.. it's pretty refreshing.
One thing I love is how every reason William has to kill is always his own personal grievances before the death of his son, the death might be a reason but maybe he was always crazy. Textbook narcissism, great storytelling.
I personally think that Cassidy had a different, more violent death than all the others. All the kids were stuffed into suits, but it was always so weird that Cassidy was the more bitter one than all of them. If they were all stuffed, why was she more relentless than them all? I think that because she was stuffed into FredBear, she was springlocked. Calling Springlock deaths extremely painful is a an understatement. William experienced that amount of pain for a solid 5 minutes. Imagine a child experiencing that amount of pain for a solid 5 minutes. That would make any child vengeful and relentless. Even more that all of the others.
Matt said ''william let himself go too far'' after the deaths of the first 4. Cassidy ''had a bag put over their head, was hit with a shovel to the head, and then dragged into William's car who obviously killed them''. That's why Cassidy has so much more built-up revenge against Afton as their death was the most bloody, brutal and painful. Also, i don't know if Cassidy is a girl or boy so that's why i said they/them.
Instead of taking the "He's not my son" line literally, maybe William just disowned Micheal after he caused the death of the crying child. He did send him into sister location as a death mission after. Maybe to William, Micheal is no longer his son
Hello, I've never played any of the FNAF games, but I've always been interested in the lore, so this series you've made is so helpful for me to understand how it all works with out scaring myself lol
Meanwhile at Freddy’s family diner: Phone guy “You need to stop this person he keeps breaking in like he’s looking for like lore and secrets and your watching his videos at work!”
i've been thinking about the "don't you remember what you saw?" thing, and what makes most sense to me is the kid saw a spring lock failure up close, and was traumatized by it. William knew the spring lock suits were dangerous, so he tried to scare his kids away from the suits to prevent accidents (which didn't work), even encouraging his eldest son to bully the youngest and strengthen the fear.
I remember what I sold thing makes sense to me kids sees bring what fruit further up close and was traumatized by it William knew it was the spring lock suits we're dangerous , so he trade too scared his kids away from the suit to prevent accidents which didn't work , even encouraging his older son to bullying the youngest and strengthen the fear.
One thing I want to mention is that in FNAF 4, we only ever see William speaking to the crying child through the plush, which would most likely distort his voice. He might even have used additional distortion so TCC wouldn't recognize his voice, like that one Fazbear Frights story. And what we see at the end with "I will put you back together" could be a different shade because he's speaking to TCC in person. His voice would sound different when not going through an 80s walkie-talkie.
It's insane how long FNAF has been alive, really hope it still got a long life left.

That doesn’t make any sense… Has he always had the objective of killing kids or was it gonna be used for another thing? Like storing stuff (which doesn’t make a lot of sense but…)?
Yeah;
I Find it Narratively Unsatisfying for William to ALWAYS have been ****ED Up in the head; OR for him to just be evil BECAUSE POTATOES!!!
W
E

I like the theory about Cassidy because everyone really was wondering why she just happened to be the ONE he shouldn't have killed. The raw, tense story telling and voice acting is so thrilling
I'm honestly glad he mentioned afton before he became a killer, it shows he wasnt always a blood thirsty monster, it shows he was once a regular man with a dream. A dream that would soon be his greatest nightmare.
As well as many others's

An extremely minor detail but I think there is an explanation for why Nightmare Fredbear has a mouth on his stomach: That’s where the walkie-talkie was inside the plush dolls so the crying child, being a young kid would think that Fredbear had a mouth over his stomach to speak with.
It makes sense, also twisted Freddy have one too so maybe it's just a no important detail.
i thought it's because he saw his sister getting eaten by baby through her stomach?
@@kittyratrawr That's what we've always thought, but this theory places Baby's death after FNAF 4 making that idea impossible, this is just an alternate idea
the fredbear springlock failure thing retiring the springlock suits sounds like nonsense still
My theory is that there was a springlock failure and the employee followed the instructions to quickly shimmy to the safe room, however the crying child might have been locked in there by Michael and got to witness it
Some things seen in the shadows are easily misunderstood in the eyes of a child. He thought that the employee had been eaten by the animatronic leaving him with a phobia of getting close to them
although Henry (who was managing Freddys) was more safety conscious retiring the springlock suits there right away and rolling out some out of place temp suits until regular animatronics could be built. To William such immersion breaking was out of the question (I mean hell it was company policy to go to the safe rooms to bleed out just so the kids wouldn't have their experience ruined) and besides the springlock suits were integral to the charm of fredbears so he kept them
the stomach mouth is literally just children's imaginations about the joint line between the upper and lower torso pieces of the suit.

Hi Mat, your timeline is great I love it and, while rewatching this part, I might have found the way to explain why Elizabeth's death come after her brother's :
Remember that in The Silver Eyes we are told that Michael Brooks died in the pizzeria ?

I saw it too and wait, did he say that Cassidy was a witness and so he killed her or-
Edit: Oh right random kid, only reason was blood lust right?
I think it’s fitting in a way, Cassidy shouldn’t have been killed. They are the one who if all, shouldnt had been killed like they had been

Man, Mat can really deliver a narrative.
I love in this theory William dies. Where is The remmanent 20:52
One thing I love is how every reason William has to kill is always his own personal grievances before the death of his son, the death might be a reason but maybe he was always crazy. Textbook narcissism, great storytelling.
Well from what i researched narcissists aren't normally violent. That's more like a psychopath or sociopath.

8:25 that maniac laughed so horribly that i was sure that in their ''afterlife'' Charlotte would break his windows and stab him several times everyday
The way mat pat is so passionate with his speaking through this entire thing is just so nice to listen to. Just adds more layers to the onion
He went to far with Cassidy and then stuffed him in a broken suit Cassidy couldn't even move much less do anything else but be angry
