But in North America, a pick-up truck has become a luxury vehicle to flaunt wealth, so high-end customers require multiple options, nice interior, and latest infotech, etc. And the EPA regulations it near impossible to sell cheap trucks. Somethings going on that we don't know it kind of looks like they're making the cars so expensive so we can't afford them. I think they're trying to get us all into electric cars.
I like their trucks, but would only use the bed maybe once, possibly twice every five years or so. Much better to get a car or CUV/SUV if having a large family or dealing with heavy snow, then buying a 20 year old refurbished truck if hauling on a regular basis.
Only good Toyota products left are V8 models like the LC500 which is actually worth the $105K it costs and the IS500 which is a very fast car for the $65K it costs. The Camry is reasonably priced but they killed the V6 and added a high pressure turbo to extract power from the engine by keeping it under high stress. Don’t buy these domestic made V6 trucks for Japan made V8 supercharged 600hp prices.
And the funny thing is, this Tacoma will not hold a candle to the 1st, and especially the long-running 2nd gens (2005-2015), as they're already having, you guessed it, 'reliability' and 'quality' 'issues'. Too bad Toyota hasn't been the same company after the 2016 redesign of the 3rd gen Tacoma (2016-2023), and even the 2009-built 4Runner is having issues after the 2021 model years, and this is coming from Japan.
