      Even Apple’s updates have been tainted. I love the laptop/phone I got last year, it’s my 4th Mac laptop since the early 2000s & 3rd phone & maybe my favourite devices ever, & the AI isn’t even supposed to be in these ones but it’s obviously patched into some functions, like autocorrect, which has become incredibly aggressive while fundamentally being unable to predict what I meant to say. I have witnessed the autocorrect on both devices OVERWRITE a completely correct + intentional term that had no typos in it & was a word in my Dictionary function. This has happened multiple times. Even more than overwriting perfectly usable words for no reason, it’s even worse when it’s trying to interpret some typos. It does particularly bad if I hit a letter instead of the space bar, bc instead of being able to see that’s what happened like any human could & understand what I was saying, the AI-boosted autocorrect will make wildly decontextualized guesses that make it almost impossible to understand what was just a typo. It’s aggravating bc I’m a fast typist & having to back-track to cater to an AI learning by making crappy mistakes on me all the time is so annoying. I hate it.

      The main benefit of automating marketing content is exactly so that they can in fact target every possible market segment with more personalized and more compelling messaging. See, for example, every SEO “blog” that companies run to churn out content tailored to every possible market segment. The coke ads are obvious rage bait cashing in on a trend, just like Pepsi’s Jenner ad and whatever Nike did to make everyone buy and burn their shoes. The actual point of automating marketing is to create a tsunami of content from a few bullet points.

    The odd thing about AI stuff to me is that the big new thing is Generative AI that pulls from huge (often stolen or dubiously acquired) pools of data, but AI in _general_ we've been using for a long time, "AI" can just be, like, the behavior something in a video game is programmed with, nothing generative involved. So it's hard to even tell what people are talking about when they use that AI buzzword. (P.S. I just found your channel, looks like you got some good stuff! • @ambiguousdrink4067
      @ambiguousdrink4067 15 днів тому +12

      The new meaning of AI (which is Generative AI or GAI like ChatGPT) is also misleading. It is not AI as in a machine capable of thought. It's basically a significantly more advanced version of that feature where some phones try to predict how you're going to finish a sentence so you can just pick one and save yourself time actually writing it out. More confusion is due if "true AI" (a machine truly capable of thought) is created. As of now AI is more than likely just a marketing name to make it seem more advanced in process than it really is.

When I'm not in a rush, I try to make it clear; this slop is not accurately described as artificial intelligence, and probably slowed down the progression of actual uses by now making it have to functionally and reputationally distance from the slop.
      Remember too, "AI" (mass generation) poisons like Nightshade and Glaze work better the higher proportion of altered works we can get in each prompt source.

    • @InventorZahran
      @InventorZahran 16 днів тому +6

      Intentional or not, controversy multiplies the reach and impact of any advertisement.
      It's in our human nature to want to share our strong negative feelings about things we don't like, so we are more likely to talk about (and therefore spread awareness of) content/ads that make us angry. Social media recommendation algorithms have learned this all too well, and have optimized themselves to promote controversial content as much as possible. That's why hate speech gets so much exposure on Twitter! (Perfect example right there: in describing something I don't like, I mentioned a brand name!)
      It's been said "any publicity is good publicity", and that is certainly true in this case. It doesn't matter if an ad inspires mostly negative sentiments towards the featured company, as long as it puts that brand name into the minds of more people.

      Oh absolutely. Like, corporations, have made it trendy to have low to no standards, and to be cruel right out in the open. To get not just good publicity but ANY publicity.
      Because, they managed to make it work without even trying to pretend that they aren't doing these things. They have willing apologist armies.
      But, these are temporary successes, that become regretful very quickly. The resources and novelty dry up, they start exploiting other powerful people and infighting, demographics eventually miss actual quality standards and stop consuming.
      They set their own expiry date by trying to play with controversy.
      (Hint...the right wing does exactly this too...)

    I really appreciate your commentary on the ethics of artists taking advertising jobs (even those they disagree with) just to get paid. Indeed, working in the creative field involves taking on a level of risk and needing to do a lot of work you’re not passionate about just to get by. As an about-to-graduate art student, I am of course fully prepared to take on work I don’t care about or might even find goes against my moral fiber, but you addressing that it’s a valid route and sharing your experience is a really comforting thing to hear. Thank you.

    I'm doing a MBA on Marketing right now.
    We have a lot of discussions regarding Ai to the point I'm considering making it my master thesis going forward.
    Basically those who didn't migrate to the sector from a design, product, or art background -literally do not understand- the problem.
    I had to show the coke ai ads to 'civilians' (some random folks not from marketing I lured in the campus with the promise of a free coke) to show them how folks feel weirded out by it.
    The discussion then came how 'cheap' coca-cola looked by doing this. They are basically riding the Ai hype wave. But the results is that they are being rejected by the audience.
    As a marketer, you must please your stakeholders. The consumer is a stakeholder. Therefore... Pure Ai coke ads are -not- a marketing sound decision.
    "But its cheaper!"
    Yes and your audience knows it. You look like a cheap ass, not like the leader of the pack. Complete out of step of coke messaging and position in the market.
    I will concede the point of the video here to say it is an attempt of normalization. They wish to remove the feeling of it being cheap. Resist?
    I know I'm watching and collecting data to shove on those corps as a consultant to tell them 'You are making yourselves look horrible'.

    I don't get the reason why you need to feel so secretive about your opinions on AI. Most people on this platform are opposed to it, and from what you shared, you seem to have an average opinion on the subject. If it's from a worry about upsetting a few people or to not make the channel be yet another AI discussion channel, I get it, but I rather it just be clearly communicated than awkwardly danced around. But to each their own.

    one thing worth noting is the uncanny valley problem, ai generated art is going to have a very hard time entirely replacing human made content without being noticed for probably a very long time because of the complexity of the tech required to reach that point. hopefully we will see a decline in capitalist profit motives before that point?
    however this is also why the ruling classes defund education, so things like this are easier to slip by. the shift of social media companies to using ai to create false profiles and fake content is part of this project to confuse the public enough that they can't tell what's real anymore. my hope is the enshitification these generative content systems produce will lead people away from ai filled media channels and ideally towards more federated social networks, though it's unrealistic to assume this would happen en masse
