You can form Persia (or any other nation) if you want to and still get the achievement. Only your start tag needed to be Hisn Kayfa, which you have been.
I did this achievement a few weeks back, expecting some really troubles. But turns out that with religious diplomats you can ally the Ottomans in like two-three months and then you’re safe. After that I just expanded west quickly to cut them off from their missions of permaclaims in the Levantine-area and boom, a faithful ally for the whole game!
I did the same, except I was literally a month too late in getting relations with them, so they were able to declare on Mamluks just before we allied them. And took Antioch and Aleppo...they held those bitches the entire game as I expanded using their armies. Then my final act was to Blitzkrieg them (was my only option, they had blobbed to become the overwhelming world power, some like 430k troops in 1640). But while their troops were freezing their asses off in Russia my boys were bombarding their myriad Anatolian forts for quick warscore. Was able to peace out for the two provinces I needed in under a year. Boom, achievement run over. But now I watch this video...and find a mechanic I did not know existed. 1700+ hours and i am just know finding out you can trade favors for core provinces. I am kinda furious right now, haha. I spent sooooo much time on that run trying to get strong enough to be able to snipe those provinces from the Ottomans, when I could have just BOUGHT THEM?! Oh well, what's a few hours wasted?
@@lafoonxiii5311 I mean you can only ask for provinces that you or your subject have cores on so unless you have cores in alexandria I dont really think it was going to work anyways
I've found that so long as you sit a diplomat on curry favors, and dump those favors into trust, the Ottomans are quite content to just push into Europe and the steppe. It's quite handy!
Quarbit, I know this is an older video, but I got your channel recommended to me (Thanks UA-cam Algorithm!) and I've been enjoying watching your stuff. Anyways, the reason that Paradox doesn't let you negotiate in peace deals (as in do some give and take) is that it'd be too easy for players to abuse, as I'm sure you can imagine. They can't really program the AI well enough to prioritize things that it should, and there is already the threaten war mechanic, so yeah.
Since last update or so every core also gives that nation a conquest CB for that core too, so that you don't loose diplo points and can declare either war for yourself and your subjects. The dumb thing is that on the CB list conquest is listet first.
I remember having a great time with this achievement not long after CoC released. There was a strategy back then of vying for an immediate alliance with the Ottomans, and then No-CBing one of their neighbors they don't have a truce with and giving them the land for immediate favors. Made early expansion way quicker. Haven't played em in a while though so who knows if that's still viable
18:23 yeah, I also don't get why ottomans considered op. In most of my games they don't do much. Once I was playing as Poland and went to war with ottomans just once to reqonquer wallachian cores. After that they got crushed by Mamluks and Venice in a few years.
Then you don’t play against them because anyone with half a brain and experience with ottomans can see how they butcher anything that moves before 1600 hence why overwhelming numbers are needed early and even late game they still have equal troops to the likes of france italy germany[not prussia…never prussia] and the commonwealth. The ottomans are also op because they have a RIDICULOUSLY good economy, development to start with and good ideas. Their missions aren’t the best but they definitely stand above almost everything in eu4
nah they are pretty much the same but AI will sometimes take tons of mil ideas for no reason. That prob happened for you. Offensive + Quantity + Defensive is so common after 5 ideas.
Hello fellow map-painters - I have a question. How do you stop yourself from going into a debt-spiral with your loans? Any tips from more seasoned players/perhaps Quarbit himself? I'm very much enjoying the more straight-to-the-point Quarbit and his absolute bangers of campaigns.
Take the estate loans and use them to pay off your bank loans (estate loans have 1% interest whereas bank loans have 4% interest, so you pay less per month on your loans), and state everything that you conquer so you can get lower autonomy in your provinces which allows you to get more money from them.
Personally I always avoid loans, just as a more interesting game rule. But, one thing a lot of people seem to do is take loans from standing costs. If you’re running a monthly deficit and taking loans , unless you’re a very seasoned floorynomics expansion practitioner you are fighting the spiral the whole way down. If your loosing money on every war, you don’t make w profit with volume. So my suggestion is if you can’t make a positive balance monthly, don’t take loans or expand your army, or drill/maintain at peace, or recruit mercenaries. Borrow money only to invest. Borrow to embrace institutions, to build good buildings - manufactories and workshops (I wouldn’t borrow for manpower buildings) , and maybe to recruit a couple canons if it’s going to win you a profitable war, and the money you take can pay back those loans, but again, if those canons put you in a monthly deficit and you’re ‘unseasoned’ don’t fight the war yet, you can’t legitimately afford it. Similar advice to real life. Don’t borrow for daily expenses - army maintence/rent, do borrow for investment - buildings/mortgages-buisness capital costs. If you can’t afford the upkeep on a fancy place you can’t rent it, if you can’t afford the upkeep on a fancy cavalry army or canons you can’t have it yet, (use a cheap infantry only army to bully other people to make you rich first).
i really like to watch your stuff, but i have a video request: speedrunning the ming mandate. i never made it till the end of age of discovery. thanks lot for your work

In my game I wasn't able to ally the ottomans so of course I allied the mameluks thinking I could usr them to neutralize the ottos and then backstabbing them. It ended in an enteral gridlock with 3 giant powers unable to defeat the other side. I had the numbers but the ottomans had the ottomans and he destroyed me more than once. "Man, I need like a fleet in here or something. These ships are pretty annoying." A sentiment Khosrau II certainly felt in his time.
Not only khosrau, timurid felt the same too in a war that caused Ottoman interragnum

These videos are scratching my EU4 itch so good. Thank you for preventing me from making poor financial decisions like buying this game.

it was a cool campaign to watch i learned some strategies from you thx!

emperor goes down regular path first, in my papal state game the reformation got absolutely squashed and austria ended up passing the landfriede
I absolutely loathed and loved getting this achievement. You feel like you have done the impossible once you finally have that last province.

Once you hit reformation the Ottomans get really cowardly and really stupid if you have any army quality at all
