So starke Musik und MusikerInnen, ich habe diese geniale Band zum Glück mehrmals hören können!
Leider immer wieder mit einem weniger.
Aber wenn jemand Musikgeschichte geschrieben hat, dann diese unglaubliche Band,
Live in den 80er erlebt bleibt ewig in Erinnerung
R.i.P. Wolfgang Dauner. Einer der Besten im Jazz.

R.I.P. Barbara Thompson (1944-2022). Your work and your importance for the music will remain unforgotten. Despite the illness you played for your fans for so long. Thanks for everything, you stay in our hearts as do Jon and Dick!
Oh what a group of wonderful musicians. I never saw them Live in Concert but this is so very atmospheric. If we lived in a world of miracles this band would come back to life.

Damals konnte ich die Band in einem Dorfgemeinschaftshaus erleben. Ein unvergleichliches Erlebnis mit einem längeren Solo von Jon Hiseman.
Albert Mangelsdorff`s thrombone sounds smooth and precise at the same time !
The drummer is the great Jon Hisesman. Check out his bands Colosseum and Colosseum II.
Dont forget Tempest and his work with Georgie Fame and Graham Bond.
Had heard lots of these musicians in other groups and settings...this combination of fabulous players turned out to be de-fricking-lightful! What fun...somebody had a great idea!
Kind of insane how many great players are in this ensemble. And they play together amazingly well.

This was the great german Big Band incorporing all the legendary jazz musicians from Germany and elsewhere.
Later on there came up something similar in the Salsa and Latin realm: La Conexión Latina by Rudi Füsers.

The UJRE was formed in 1975 in Stuttgart. Wolfgang Dauner's aim was to present 'little-known' and talented musicians to the world. Also to promote social and political awareness among young German people!

Jon Hiseman gestorben und andere auch schon , unvergessen diese Band .
Wenn man nicht die Möglichkeit hatte sie live zu sehen, wie wäre es mit einem kompletten Konzert .Ich denke es sollte eigentlich bekannt sein, dass John Hiseman und Barbara Thompson verheiratet sind.

With a taste (and tasty it is) of the "Taxi" theme music! All kidding aside, what a terrific amalgam of musical talent. This needs to be heard by a much larger audience. Public TV or SOMEBODYw' half a brain and good taste should get this on an arts broadcast television station!
Nice song, great composition, unfortunately only the brass-section is a bit back and slow in the timing/tempo; maybe due to the weak monitoring and the rather bad conditions on stages at that time .. (?)

Gerettet durch Carmine "Charlie" Mariano. John Hiseman konnte ich noch nie richtig leiden, so steril wie er spielt. LOL er und Barbara habe sich getroffen.
tja Geschmäcker sind verschieden - ich finde ganz und gar nicht, dass Jon Hiseman steril spielt - aber völlig ok wenn andere das anders sehen - auf jeden Fall eine einzigartige Band!
Jetzt mal ehrlich so im direkten Vergleich mit Soft Machine ist diese Darbietung doch wirklich ein wenig dröge.
@Senior Kokosnuss, ist Musik nicht eine Geschmackssache? Soft Machine oder If oder Gong oder wie auch immer, die hatten meines Erachtens einen anderen Background, wie soll man dies vergleichen? Es sind völlig andere Musiker und es bleibt jedem überlassen dies oder jenes gut oder besser zu finden, oder??
