lovely video. was there any vibrations coming through to the bars like the previous XR. that was a common problem on the previous generation. keep safe buddy from south Africa.
reminds me of the first bike trip in Japan, which I joined the circuit cruise session in a certain ex-F1 track with 1 of the longest straights in F1 at the time the marshall brief the bikes "ok, I will lead the queue, cars goes first, you bikes will be the back, nothing stupid please" ok, what can possibly go wrong? at the end of the out-lap, the bikes drop themselves back from the queue and kept themselves 5 seconds apart while the cars were at motorway pace just as I were wondering, yes, they blast off in second gear for the straight😂 I mean, it isn't a proper bike session so there won't be a R1, but boy😂😂😂😂
actually I think I know why he set such a slow pace but I was too lazy to write that inside the video. When we were shooting pictures with the group of journalists where you end up riding up and down the same stretch of road for a couple of times for the photographer there was one guy who just had to act like a complete moron every time. Doing dangerous wheelies etc. They asked him to stop but he wouldn't. In the end he did but it was a different lunatic. One who's able to pull himself together for the sake of the whole group ;)

R1250RS seems like a better option than all of the options you offered, and the I still think that that one has too big of an engine leading to more fuel consumption than I'd like. Comfy cozy F800 ST with the F800 GSA tank would be the ultimate BMW tourer imo.
Your leader of the pack withstood the pressure you put on him not to go any faster, great sounding bike , great ride and super cool roads, one question please Schaaf, how come BMW can make a quick shifter work on this machine but not as good on the R1250, or don't I have the knack yet, only 500 miles on the clock? Ride and stay safe
I'm not Schaaf, but I would guess that the crank and pistons on the R1250 have a lot more inertia then on the S1000 engine. Hence, the engine speeds are harder to get right as the engine is less responsive, leading to jerkiness.

"gentle cruise" by schaaf standards :D
actual standards
Cool video, where did you place the microphone on this bike?
I want to understand one thing ... driving in those streets has tired you? Did you use your body a lot to bend the bike?
you could ride like this for 5 days
Great video Schaaf. What did you think of the XR?
It's better in every single aspect compared to its predecessor. A stunning bike.
lovely video. was there any vibrations coming through to the bars like the previous XR. that was a common problem on the previous generation. keep safe buddy from south Africa.
Not really, they got rid of most of them
What makes the new one more civilized? Is it less fun than the old model?
It's less loud, less vibrations on the bars and lesser fuel consumption.
Nice video! What is your thoughts on this bike vs your favourite the multistrada?
It's the better choice. But the Multi moves my soul more.
reminds me of the first bike trip in Japan, which I joined the circuit cruise session in a certain ex-F1 track with 1 of the longest straights in F1 at the time

Oh geez :D
Have you riden the previous model? What you think are the differences? 🤔
All complaints of the previous model are gone. The XR 2020 is a very well made upgrade
that induction noise... got the same on the gsxr.
Another great video!
I wish they put more thought into the 2 colors. They’re so boring
HP colors would be cool or the black exclusive GS color scheme.
That is true. The colors aren't exactly pretty
Great video and sound as always! Question: Where do you place your Zoom H1 to capture the engine/exhaust sounds?
Do you prefer the new xr or 1250 gs?

Thanks
Does the engine hunt/surge when mainaining constant rpm at around 3-3.5k? Have heard some complaints about that on the previous S1000XR.
Not really. Basically they got rid of all the predecessor complaints
Does your leader not watch your UA-cam channel??I think that new XR is the business,thks.JHB-SA.
Maybe the leader did and that's why he is where he is.
