Emmylou is at the very top of my country music female singers. She has everything. Talent, looks, presence on stage and a great back up band. Love everything about her as an artist.
If I remember correctly, Dolly Parton wrote the song and was planning to cut it, and Emmylou begged her to let her record it first, and it has become one of those songs that is most closely identified with Emmylou but Dolly did later release the song too. Both of them sound beautiful doing the song.
I would enjoy seeing you react to more Emmylou Harris songs. My favorite Emmylou songs are Prayer in Open D, Red Dirt Girl, Bang the Drum Slowly (about her dad), Michelangelo, and My Name is Emmett Till.

Folk Music was a part of Rock Music (Dylan, Baez, Parsons, etc.). Emmylou was popular in Rock, Folk, and Country. She had such a unique voice. So many good songs: "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues," "Making Believe," "Where Will I Be," and "One of These Days" are some good ones. So glad that you did her song. I will take Emmylou over Dolly every time.
Well, mama bears some of the blame for that. She should have spoke up. Us men can’t read effing minds you know. It’s possible her husband interpreted her obvious disinterest as first, a cooling of her feelings for HIM, and eventually actual coldness. Remember she, over the years LET it happen.

She does. But the one criticism I would have of her is that in many of her songs the actual WORDS are unintelligible. She slurs them pretty bad.

I agree. Tasha should do Prayer In Open D. Emmylou wrote that one. It's lyrics are as deep, if not deeper than the one she just reacted to.
