Can you spot the danger on this motorcycle overtake?

- Can you spot where this overtake became a risk? I try to make every ride a perfect example of risk assessment and I strive to improve all the time. No matter how much experience you have there are always things that could bite you in the arse, but you just need to reassess and always look at where you could have done better. Leave a comment and tell me where this was less than perfect.
Thanks for watching (in 4K) and hopefully learning with Rider Guider.

Apart from the fact that everyone seems to be riding on the wrong side of the road this seems like a pretty safe overtake.
Hahahah .... okay here's a special version just for my US and Euro mates ua-cam.com/video/eqisAj7kkSQ/v-deo.html
Entrance to a property on the right. Assume it’s a property as I’d expect a solid white line middle of the road if it were a junction to stop overtaking at that location. It is particularly difficult to spot until you’re on it so a sign (highways / local council) would help which warns of a hidden driveway. All up though, given what you could see from road signs and eyesight, you didn’t have much warning.
@Sticky_BEAK ... spot on mate, thank you for watching and commenting 🙂👏🙏
Ha somehow missed this when it came out. You could obviously see better than me viewing through your camera but was straining to look through the distant shadows. Would be a rare day when you'd done something unsafe on the bike! What's that you say, you've had some rare days then! 😮😉😁🤣🤣🤣Anyway hope you both had a good Christmas and wishing you both a Happy New Year.
The main thing would be the junction on the right that's quite a restricted view due to the trees. Too many people come out of those without looking left.
@CalmBiker correct & THANK YOU and yes they do, thanks for your input mate 🙂👍🏼
no headcheck before pulling out... just in case! assume thats a helmet mounted camera...
not really looking at whats on the back of that plumbers ute... tied down? secure? nothing flapping round?
double overtaking with no attempt to at least sort of squeeze in between in case you have to actually squeeze in between...
followed by that road at 0:26. which is probably all that anyone notices. if that...
along with general large fields with no fences and the possibility of roos etc...
no head check when merging back in. again... just in case theres some poser on a hyabusa being a poser... but now im not so sure thats helmet mounted... so i shant say anything about seeming lack of scanning and headchecks...
mmmm, 100 signs. been a while since i saw a 100 zone. even longer since black circles with lines through em... (wish i had pinched the set that got pulled down locally... end school zones, black circles. awesome :))
Haha … thanks for watching and commenting. Not a helmet mount and yes I did the ‘life savers’ (shoulder checks) … but you got it with the driveway to the right mate 👌🏼👏🏼 … that was the one I had in mind 👍🏼🙂 (these 100 zones are unfortunately in kmh) 😢
@@TheRiderGuider i still got a few local roads with no signs at all. getting rare now!
change of speed limit and junction to your right and brow of hill in distance. All before overtaking.
YES mate, that drive/junction was the main issue 🙂 CHEERS
Driveway/road on the right side. I nearly fell victim to exactly this situation as a young car driver, except in my instance, a car actually came out of the intersection! There's a couple of lessons in this one. Firstly, look out for intersections like this. Secondly, and I can't stress this enough, always look where you're going when you pull out of intersections like this. We are so well tuned to just look for risks to our right when entering a carriage way (in Australia) that we ignore the left, and the direction that we want to go in, completely.
Hi David yes indeed, thanks for commenting. This is is also a 100 zone so your experience is definitely worth noting. Cheers mate 🙂👍🏼
I am going to go with the t-junction, for the road that comes in on the right, at the 0:26 mark? 🤷♂️
NAILED IT ... I was up in Spalding yesterday, every 'job' vehicle I saw on the road gave me a wave, either to slow me down or you're all bikers haha.
@@TheRiderGuider you should have popped in, I was working too.
@@casnick1 crossed my mind! Fuelled up at the Ampol on the way up, next time I’ll let you know. Likely to be a regular trip. Got a mate building an amazing place on Wanda Tce Spalding who I was visiting.
entrance to the right infront of the 2nd car is a hazard, nevertheless you had time and space to reassess after overtaking the 1st. Had one spotted any intention of the pickup truck to turn right, or a glimpse of a vehicle exiting the entrance, would have been time to act.
Thank you … YES and yes again that 2nd vehicle turning right was also a potential hazard, I had my eye on that too 🙂👍🏼
Dirt road or driveway on the right. Needed to be faster to be safer. The GTR1400 would have overtaken before that junction. Hahahahaha.
Haha, hi Chewie ... YES more cubic centimetres and some extra pistons. The driveway is of course correct. Hidden junctions spell danger, thank you my friend 🙂
unless you know the road thats always going to be a risk
Indeed mate, yes. Thank you. We have to risk assess all the time but sometimes we also need to be fortunate. Cheers.
Only overtake one car at a time? Due to tree shadows and other conditions would have given time to reanalyse?

Yes, you’re not on a Honda Transalp 750
😄 hahahah how is that beautiful new Honda matey?
@@TheRiderGuider loving it, I still have the awesome T7
@@HardPackedADV good, I had a six hour ride up north yesterday on mine, rekindled some love for the mighty T7. I've been considering a Honda, but not a Transalp ...
It appears to be in Australia and Australian drivers are crap. So doing it in Western Europe would be safer.
😂 … This is South Australia. We’re doomed because in SA they’re the worst of the worst ☺️👍🏼
That and wrong side of the road ;)@@TheRiderGuider
