    The Crisis of The Third Century and the Tetrarchy really fascinated me when I studied the history of the Roman Empire in college.
    Thanks for another great review!
    Here's a Roman joke:
    A Roman walks into a bar and holds up 2 fingers and says, "Five beers please."

    Thanks for the interview... I've been reading through the rules for "Help Arrives", Draco's Spanish Civil War game... not bad in the rule book. This game looks pretty good... small footprint, solo high, and not a ton of things to worry about... I'll put it on my buy list.

    Thanks Cody! Now you have to try the expansion modules, the two 'good' characters are helpful when you attack the hardest levels, and the two 'bad' guys can complicate the moderate ones. The 4 historical scenarios at the end of the rulebook enhance the historical experience, and a 5th one is going to be published soon ("The death of Constantius")...

      Hi Miguel! When will the new edition come out, and will it be available in the US? I'm interested in getting a copy!

      @@virtuabutch Hi, the new edition (Draco Ideas) is this one, it has been recently published in Eng/Spa, Italian and Chinese. The Eng/Spa one has been the first to hit the warehouse... and the first to sell out (a couple of months)! The other two versions should be still available from their Italian/Chinese publisher I guess. Now Draco Ideas are figuring out how many they will reprint, but would like to gather publishers from other countries to be able to print a larger volume. Taking into account printing/shipping delays from China, I guess it should be ready next summer (at least this is what Draco tells you if you order from them now)...

    Seems a lot more like Defenders of the Realm than Pandemic. Either way, I like how small and portable it seems-and that it can be played SOLO!! :)

    Thanks for the video. With Total War: Rome currently on KS a little beyond my budget, this looks like it could scratch the Roman empire itch for me. After watching your vid, I checked out the game and the expansion on BGG and saw the developer is making yet another expansion based on Constantine.

    Tracked down your review of this after hearing you mention it in your recent Q&A as a board game you have been playing solo a fair bit of late. I was struck by how similar it seems to Pandemic: Fall of Rome (which is truly a fun game), and interested to see in the comments that this predates it. I have to agree with the person that said that board itself left something to be desired aesthetically -- though perhaps it looks better on the table than on video. It seems quite cramped (for comparison with a small box Classical period game, see 300: Earth & Water, which is rather beautiful and elegant). The game sounds intriguing though -- thanks for the review.

    Hi, interesting game.
    Would you say that the theme is fairly implemented? Does it give the feel of a light war game/simulation or not really ?
    I played Pandemic Fall of Rome, but for me that did not feel well integrated to the theme.
    Thank you for the review.

    • @TheDiscriminatingGamer
      @TheDiscriminatingGamer  2 роки тому +1

      It’s a very light game. I certainly wouldn’t call it a simulation. Still, it pulled me.

    • @miguelmarques4699
      @miguelmarques4699 2 роки тому +2

      I designed it as a light wargame, with many details abstracted, so it is not a thorough simulation of the specific events. But within all the abstractions I did try to simulate how the tetrarchs felt. So games don't (or may not) follow history, but I think the feeling is there, and I have not seen alternative endings that didn't seem potentially possible. BTW, as I said above there are historical scenarios too.

    About the rulebook. I've got another game from Draco and I found the same problem. I think it might come from the fact that they translate it from Spanish.
    Is it quicker than pandemic fall of Rome?

    • @miguelmarques4699
      @miguelmarques4699 2 роки тому +1

      You're right Daniel, the original rulebook for the Draco Ideas edition was a rewriting of the Spanish material from the nestorgames edition, and then we translated it to English. Although the original rulebook for the nestorgames edition had been the English one, but English is not my first language... Honestly, I think that it could be clearer, but that it is clear enough to play.

      @@miguelmarques4699 to be fair Miguel, it was not obscure and BGG always help (I know Spanish too and that helped.).

      I don't think they are similar (Romans aside), but in any event it would be Pandemic FoR (2018) that would be similar to Tetrarchia (2015), although it isn't. A BGG user made a comparative review ("Tetrarchia: Pandemic light?"), and others have commented on this in the comments section. Tetrarchia is quicker, to set up, play and store.
