  • Husqvarna is famous for their chainsaws. No wonder their motorcycles sound a bit like them too. I decided to fix this with a 'genius' and cheap solution from eBay. Let's see where it got me..
P.S. My speedometer is off due to new gear set and provide higher speed readings than it should.

Couple of things you mentioned in the video that you might be unaware of. First, the Svartpilen 125 uses the same exhaust system as the bigger 401 and therefore you can swap the exhaust can with any other as this won't effect air flow (afterall the same system can handle the 401). Second, your speedometer on this model does not run off your rev counter and so you can change your gear ratio to whatever you want and your speedometer will still read true to the speed you are actually doing. Regarding the shorty exhaust, i personally think it sounds great and recommend putting it back on. Thanks for the video. Love to see more from your experience with your svartpilen 125.

Hey Mark! Thanks for you comment!
I noticed the similarities between 401/125 and I had a plan to upgrade to 401 at some point. It would give me an opportunity to buy some parts for 125 and later re-use on the 401. However, I got another idea for the next bike and decided not to spend too much money on the exhaust.
I actually tried to fit it again. And that time i thought it was a bit too loud. I found out that I do enjoy the pleasant quietness of the stock exhaust.
On the speedo - I agree with you and that't what I also thought, but that's not what I am seeing. It was spot on when I got the bike. And after the sprocket change it now shows faster speed than real. I had exactly the same behaviour on my Honda Grom. And after I swapped the wheels to 13 inch and put a larger rear sprocket it became so bad, that I had to fit a SpeedoHealer to rectify the issue. It worked great!
Thanks for watching the video! I am planning a big update :)

I think it sounds awesome. As for it being too loud, I think that’s a good thing. As a rider being seen and heard is a saftey issue and with it being a little louder you will be heard easier. Just my opinion! I love the bike though. I’m strongly considering getting one. I’m 5’7 not sure if it will be too tall for me or not.

Hey Jeremy! Thanks! I agree with you about being heard before being seen is a good thing for rider’s safety. That slipon was very cheap, id recommend buying something more serious :) I am 5’9 and the bike was manageable, but it is definitely taller than most bikes. If you have a chance to sit on it before buying, definitely do it. Otherwise, it is a fantastic bike!
