TheMJT515 alright so when y is a single variable you apply substitution but when y has a number infront of it you apply elimination, if y has a number infront of it and you can’t apply elimination you divide all the other ones in the equation by the number y has so y will be a single variable. Example: 3x+5y=20. You divide all of them by 5 so it will be y=4-0.6x. Then you just apply it to your other equation like 4x+10(4-0.6x)=12 or something yeah.

I left high school 5 years ago and haven't used a lick of math out in "the real world" and now I'm starting at a community college and of course I have to learn all this stuff all over again just because that's what they want you to do, even though I know for a fact that I will not use this information. It was a strong suspicion in high school, and now it's basically a proven fact. For most occupations, basic algebra is thoroughly irrelevant.

Thx mate this helps a ton, it not like the other videos where the teacher sound's like they want to jump off a cliff while they skip over all the important detail's because they understand it already.

A while back I didn't really get this lesson and was relying more on my friends to help me understand this lesson but then, a few nights before my second quiz I watched this video and did all the equations on a paper. I wanted to pass this quiz badly since I did bad on my first quiz. I sat on my desk while answering the quiz and I couldn't help but remember this video. A month after the test was taken, it was given back. I had high and low hopes for my quiz (I was even praying to just get a double-digit mark) I took my paper and noticed my teacher looked at it before smiling. I didn't want to check my paper for at least 3 minutes but I saw the check marks on the back part of the paper. 20/25 !!! It was my first time passing a math test that semester and it was all thanks to this 10 minute video.

Not sure if you still check these comments, but just know your videos are still much appreciated! I’m having to teach my son grade 10 math because his teacher isn’t, and your videos have been incredibly helpful for us both! As an aside, I find it funny/sad that, when I went through school and asked ‘where will I ever use this’, no one mentioned that I would use it when I had to teach it to my own kids in the future! 😂🤦‍♀️
